Why This Teacher Started Blogging: “Blogging Has Really Changed my Life.” – Why and how it has changed her life for the better & why you should consider it!
I am THRILLED to have Laura Orlando pop over here to share her story with you.
I so adore her personality, heart, desire to work, and her passion that shines through in all of her ventures. If I can say there is a “star” blogging student, she’s definitely one of them. (Even though I consider her more as a blogging friend at this point. Make sure you check out why I feel blogging friends are important, in your own journey!)
I’ve asked Laura to come here and share her story of why she started blogging and how that looks in her life, being a full-time teacher too.
SO many blogging students and those interested in starting a blog, have a common denominator… they teach.
When I realized this, I knew Laura would be the perfect “straight from the resource” kind of gal to have here. She’ll be someone else that you can relate with in case you’ve been thinking about heading down the road of blogging too!
So let’s hear it Laura, and welcome!
Hey there! My name is Laura Orlando, and I am a mom, wife and a third-grade special education teacher, and I am also a blogger and an online shop owner.

I am so excited to be here to tell you about how blogging changed who I am and pushed me outside my comfort zone. I am also here to tell you why you should take a leap of faith and do the same.
“Blogging Has Really Changed My Life”
In 2014 I started a blog called Celebrate In Detail. My blog started as a party blog all while helping many local moms in my area with their children’s birthday parties.
I used my blog to document the parties that I created for these moms. I really enjoyed this but felt the need to help moms in another way.
In 2018, I changed my name to Gracious Adventures and opened an online shop. Today I am still helping moms build connections with their families both at home and at school and I love every minute of it.
Blogging has really changed my life. I get to express my creativity and push myself outside of my comfort zone. I have grown up with anxiety, so starting a blog and really putting myself out there for the world to see was a huge leap of faith. Blogging has given me a purpose in my life. I love being a mom, a wife, and a teacher but this part of me is all my own.
Why Blog in a Sea of Bloggers?
You may think there are so many blogs out there and ask yourself why you should start one. Well let me tell you… you are the only you out there in this world. You have gifts that no one else has, and you have a story to tell and there are so many people out there that need to hear your story.
Teachers Make FABULOUS Bloggers
I love being a school teacher and like so many teachers, we are passionate souls who want to make a difference. Blogging is another way for me to make a difference, and I want to help and encourage others with my blog just as I do every day being a teacher.
Blogging as an Additional Income
It is a lot of work but it is very rewarding too. I knew I wanted a way to monetize my blog and do what I saw other bloggers doing working with brands. With all the time spent on blogging and creating I wanted a way to make extra money for my family. When I saw Jessica’s course for “How to Make Money Blogging” this really changed the game for me. This course went into detail on how to make money blogging with step by step videos and resources.
When I got my first sponsored post from Kellogg’s I messaged Jessica immediately to thank her for all she had taught me. Honestly, her care and support did not end there. Whenever I had a question about a sponsored post and I reached out to her, she immediately got right back to me and was so supportive.
Blogging is such an amazing creative outlet no matter what you plan to blog about. My best advice for you is to know that you will feel lost at times and so far behind everyone else but don’t compare your beginning to their middle. Reach out to other bloggers and connect with them. Comment on their posts and feeds. Hopefully they will do the same for you and you can support each other on this journey.
The Passion and the Reward
Being a teacher is such a rewarding job but blogging can be the same for you too. It will push you way outside your comfort zone and find that passion that’s inside of you. I know that since you are reading this post that you have something inside of you calling you to just start this journey. A favorite quote of mine from Amber Lilyestrom is “If it is in you, it is for you”. Just start, the world is waiting for your gifts.
