I kept it kinda quiet, but my stud muffin of a husband and I, hit the road (or air, rather0, last week, and went to Boca Grande Florida on vacation, for a friends wedding! It was ABSOLUTELY beautiful there, and I wanted to share it with you, in case you’re planning a destination wedding, searching for a honeymoon destination, or just looking for your next hot new vacation spot.
Sometimes it’s a little easier to pick a place, when you “know,” someone who has been there.

Boca Grande, Florida
We unfortunately left the kiddos at home on this trip, because we were fortunate enough to stay in a friends-relatives, vacation home, and we figured they wouldn’t want two little toddlers seeing if they could break every little knick knack on their shelves. 😉 But boy did I miss the little boogers.
As usual, our trip started with an early morning flight out of Lambert St. Louis Airport. We usually visit the little restaurant in the Delta Airlines terminal, for a quick bite before we take off. Sadly, we travel so often, that we’ve even made friends with the bartender. {You know, the guy taking this photo.. where I was trying to explain to him how to “focus,” the camera…}

There we go… Got it.

After taking our photo, he {the bartender} asked why I took so many photos of everything around me, and when I told him that I was a blogger… well… he wanted to be famous, so his picture…I took.

We had a layover in Atlanta, and when laying over… we always visit the Delta Skyclub, if available. {If you have an American Express, you can visit a Delta Skyclub. They have free internet, comfy chairs, drinks, snacks, and nice bathrooms! A definite bonus to traveling.}
This is my sweets below, working on some business.
{I’m just sittin’ there all like… “where’s the free snacks?”}

First order of business on any flight… “Vodka/Fresca,” please. Yes, hush. It helps me sleep on the flight.

Sleep? Yes… folks… sleep. Used to, I could NEVER sleep on a plane. Now? I have figured out how to catch some ZZZZ’s, and whew, what a difference it has made. I no longer have that “tired/just wanna go to bed,” feeling the night I arrive somewhere. That nap{s} on the plane helps a TON.
So what’s my secret to being able to sleep on a plane?
Blanket. Earphones. Sleep Mask. {Yes, I’m one of those people, but it helps a ga-jillion, ok?}

After my nap{s}, out comes the computer, and my blogging fingers get to work. My hubby gets some work done too, as you can see.
Oh… those??? Those are glasses of water. With limes. {ahem}

We MADE it! Boca Grande is beautiful. I don’t even know what this is, but I had to snap a pic. Golf club maybe? But pristine.

I think at this point, my body was screaming, “Thank you for this Vitamin D!” It was a LOOONG Winter.

In Boca Grande, one of my favorite aspects is that almost everyone travels the island on golf carts. Finally… somewhere that I could parallel park.

{If you saw my Facebook post last week, I mentioned how much better it was to shop in a golf cart, than a car. You can whip in and out of stores in no-time.} 😉

When we arrived, it was time for an island tour on the golf cart. My husband and his best friend were ready to go!

There are golf cart paths all over the island, and literally… this is the 360 view on every trail. Paradise.

I mean, seriously… look at this tree. They were ALL over the island.

More of the island tour continued, and it did not disappoint.

This is the Gasparilla Inn, which is an iconic location on the island. Beautiful grounds, interior, accommodations… everything.

My hubs lookin’ all good, answering an email. HE.NEVER.STOPS.WORKING. But I love him. 🙂

The night before the wedding, the bride & groom held a “Highland Games,” gathering, where everyone came to play games, eat BBQ, swim in the pool, and just chill. A perfect way for the families to relax before the big day!

I did manage to catch a bit of the sunset in Boca Grande… and if you ever go, I almost guarantee you’ll hear how everyone LOVES the sunsets there. 🙂

The wedding day arrived…
{I’m not sharing any photos of the wedding/reception itself, because I feel that it is a private affair, and I would never never never do that to someone. But I will give you this little gem. A gorgeous setting for a reception.}

The day after the wedding, was a day for relaxation. We hit the boat and took in some of the views…

After boating, it was time for a couple of cocktails and a laid back evening of pizza.
{Those are our sweet friends that we stayed with. Never a dull moment when all of us get together, that’s FO SHO.}

The end of our trip was bitter sweet. We hated to leave, but were so happy to be getting home to our sweet boys.

Boca Grande Atmosphere:
Boca Grande, is VERY laid back. {At least the time of year we went. May 2015. I have heard that Spring Break can get a little more rowdy, but where doesn’t?}
Traveling by golf cart, small boutique shopping, casual dining, and beach-living… sums it up in my book.
I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better location to “unwind.”
If you’re looking for a wild, hi-life kind of vacation… you may want to keep looking. But if you’re wanting somewhere to relax, focus on a relationship, unwind, or just “chillax…” I would HIGHLY recommend Boca Grande Florida.
Would I go back? Yep. For sure.
