Missing Mom and Dad: Preparing your Child for when you Travel

My husband and I travel a lot. It may be for either business, or pleasure...and sometimes we have to leave our kids at home. I'd take them on every trip if I could, but as you probably know, sometimes there's not an option, and they have to stay home. We are blessed to have family that will stay with them, and care for them while we are gone, and we have wonderful caregivers that help us out too. But although we have fabulous people to stay with them, our kiddos still miss us. Preparing Your Child when you Travel & They Miss You   We know...

What I especially love about this resort, is that you can literally walk right out to a pool that is shared only with a few others in your casita "zone," per-say.  So although we didn't request a "swim-up," room, we could take 10 steps, and we were jumping in to our own pool, and pool bar.  It was pretty fabulous.

“Hola,” Relaxation…

Hola, Buenos Dias! {Hello! Good Day!} Yes, I just returned from a little slice O' Heaven... Riviera Maya, Mexico! I was nice enough to take my husband with me on this one, {Ok ok... if it weren't for him, I probably wouldn't be able to go} and we had a BEEEE-YOU-TIFUL  romantic weekend getaway, and I had to share it with you. No... not sharing the romantic part, so no worries Mom... I won't be showing any pictures you'd be ashamed of. ;) El Dorado Casitas Royale Resort For the past few years, we have snuck away to Mexico with some of our friends, for...

An Afternoon of Bonding: How to Spoil Dad this Father’s Day

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone, promise! #TheGiftOfClean #CollectiveBias I thought the day would never come that my husband would take our kiddos out on his own. {Not because he ever said that, but because if felt like for YEARS, I was stranded at home with babies, while my husband went to work, ran last minute quick errands, because it was just too much work to load up a baby and hit the road, and go with him.} Now... the boys are getting older, and they're able to just slip their...

Febrile Seizures, What all Parents Should Know

Disclaimer: I am NOT a health/medical professional. I am simply telling the story of what we experienced as parents, with our little boy that day. Scariest day of my life. Still. Three years later, still the scariest day of my life. As a mom, as a human. It was Thanksgiving, 2012. My 17 month old toddler was safely strapped in to his carseat,  in the back of our Yukon, as we were traveling down unfamiliar highways, on our way to Alabama for a first time Thanksgiving celebration at my sister's house.  The tv was playing his favorite Thomas the Train movie, and I would...

I Took a Nap with my Toddler Today…

I took a nap with my toddler today. Ok... I didn't fall asleep. But I had every intention of taking a nap with my toddler today. Have you ever done this? Have you ever laid down with full intentions of stepping in to this heavenly thought of, I'll just lay down with him, we'll both take a beautiful long nap, and then we'll both wake up, staring in to each other's well-rested eyes, saying to each other, "Let's get up and enjoy the rest of our day!" Yeah. Me too. The Reality of Taking a Nap with a Toddler Yeah... look at him laying all...

On the Farm with Paw Paw

My boys love... I mean... LUUUUV... hanging out with their paw paw. Hanging out with their paw paw means there are TONS of fun things in store. You see, "Paw Paw," lives (and operates) a beef farm, and a short trip to see him, usually includes seeing big, four-legged creatures that say "moo," a tractor ride, and a "wade," in the spring. So the other day, we set out on an adventure and headed to Paw-Paw's with a surprise in store for him. A Coke....

Caught You Being Good Tickets

I completely owe this idea to my fifth-grade teacher. I don't remember a lot from elementary school, but I DO remember this.  "Caught you Being Good," Tickets: I can still "see," what her tickets looked like, and I can STILL remember how amazingly awesome it was to receive a "Caught you Being Good," ticket. So what are they? Well, every once in a while... maybe once or twice a week... she would give us "tickets," if she saw us behaving...

Our Boca Grande, Florida Vacation

I kept it kinda quiet, but my stud muffin of a husband and I, hit the road {or air, rather}, last week, and went to Boca Grande Florida on vacation, for a friends wedding! It was ABSOLUTELY beautiful there, and I wanted to share it with you, in case you're planning a destination wedding, searching for a honeymoon destination, or just looking for your next hot new vacation spot. Spring Activity for Kids – Random Act of Kindness

Spring activity for kids: A fun and easy random act of kindness that the kiddos can learn from, all while having fun at the same time! A perfect Spring activity. I'm always looking for an activity that will entertain my kids, where I can incorporate a lesson to be learned too. Like, when we grew our own wheatgrass, or when we worked on the grandparent's day craft for their maw-maw & paw paw... they may not have realized it, but they were taught some life lessons. {Sneaky sneaky.} Every Spring, I can't WAIT to get these kids out of the house,...

Why I had a “Yes Day,” for my Kids

After having a Yes Day for my kids, I was completely shocked at what they requested. I learned a huge lesson as a mom too. My husband looked at me like I was crazy. "A yes day, for the kids, Jessica? Why would you do that to yourself?" "I want to see if I can do it, and see how spoiled the kids really are." :) Why I Had a "Yes Day," for my Kids   A while back, I had heard of another mom having a "Yes Day," for her kids, and I thought it was the coolest thing. I do remember thinking: Holy...

7 Confessions of a Blogger

Many of my friends and family ask me, "Jessica, what does a blogger actually do?"  I won't lie. When I first started telling people that I "blogged," I almost said it with a little "shame," because I felt people would look at me like, "Oh...so you don't really do anything, so you just say you're a blogger so you can act like you really "do" something." I have no idea why I thought that way in the beginning. Perhaps it was my insecurities of caring what people really thought about me. But with some help along the way, such as: ...

Dear New Mom of 2…

I was exhausted.  Some days I'm still exhausted. Being a new mom of 2, can definitely make you want to hide in the panty some days and cry your eyeballs out. If you're like me, you see TONS of free lesson plans and printables on Pinterest that you want to print out for your kids to work on. Drawing, coloring, matching, shapes, and the list goes on.
