I completely owe this idea to my fifth-grade teacher. I don’t remember a lot from elementary school, but I DO remember this.
“Caught you Being Good,” Tickets:
I can still “see,” what her tickets looked like, and I can STILL remember how amazingly awesome it was to receive a “Caught you Being Good,” ticket.
So what are they?
Well, every once in a while… maybe once or twice a week… she would give us “tickets,” if she saw us behaving well.
So for instance:
- Our desks were clean, when we left for music class, so she surprised us by giving us 1 ticket.
- We went all week without getting in trouble, so she surprised us on Friday by giving us a ticket.
- We were sharing with our neighbor… you get the gist.
…and so on.
Then… about once a month, we (as students) would be able to “buy” goodies out of the “Caught you Being Good,” treasure chest, with our tickets. It was absolutely one of the most exciting things in 5th grade. 🙂
So the other day, I thought to myself:
Why couldn’t I do this with my kids at home?
I’m always looking for a positive parenting tip to encourage good behavior for my kiddos. And just like that… it hit me. “Caught you being good,” tickets.
I totally made it happen, and I want to share it with you too.
The beautiful thing about this, is that it will have a total surprise factor, and will only be handed out randomly. (Win-Win for us moms, because adding another thing to our schedules just don’t sound like the most fun, right!? So we can do it whenever we think of it, or whenever we feel like it!)
It will also always be in the back of my kiddos’ heads, that they may want to be good {ahem, and not push their brother down} because then they may loose their chance at getting a ticket.
I will now have a treasure chest of small little trinket “goodies,” and about once a month, my kiddos can turn their tickets in for treasures! Eeeeek! I feel like I’m in 5th grade again, and I’m just as excited as my kids are! 😉

Hi
Is there a way that I can order these in a different color?
Jessica says
Hi Samantha! I don’t actually have the file still of when I made this, to change the colors. I’d have to re-create them again! I can create a similar printable in different colors if you’d like though! Feel free to email me at: [email protected] if you’d like to and we can chat about what that looks like!
