Hey friends, Fotini from Farmhouse Chic Blog here! It’s that time of the month again, where I get to come and hang out with you here today!! I hope that you’ve been doing great and are looking forward to the Holidays! We sure are at our house!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that we do something special called ” 25 days of Christmas” each year with our kids. You can read more about that here! And of course with Christmas, what’s the most anticipated thing? Presents, of course! Today I’m going to share with you a simple, creative and fun project that will make a wonderful Christmas gift!
For this project you are going to need desired picture frame, scrap fabric, buttons, scissors and glue gun. The first thing I did was iron my fabric to remove any wrinkles. Next, remove the glass from your picture frame. Lay it on your fabric and trace around it with a pencil, then cut it out. I was lucky enough to find some vintage-looking buttons at my local Tuesday Mornings for just a few dollars each container. I bought two because I know that I will use them again! Whatever the buttons you chose are, lay them out and begin to play around with the design before you start gluing. For this project, I decided I wanted to do a Christmas tree! I began browsing the buttons and choosing ones similar in shape and size for each row. I began with one at the top, three, four, five and so on.
Once I was happy with my design, I started at the top and began to glue the buttons on using my hot glue gun. I continued this for the entire piece until all the buttons were glued on! Allow a few minutes for drying time. Once everything has set into place, you can now add it to your picture frame! If your picture frame comes with some sort of cushion backing (such as cardboard), use that to help the fabric stay in place. And voila! Just like that you have a beautiful, unique piece! It’s the perfect gift for a jewelry lover or someone who loves the vintage look! I’m going to be making another one with an initial for a Christmas present! What a fun little piece to add to your decor!
It was tons of fun hanging out with you today and I hope that you won’t wait until next month to come see me again.. Stop by my blog and say hello or stay connected with me via social media! I’m always posting stuff 😉 I hope that you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
