Well I am back at it again beautiful ladies sharing a beautiful piece of home décor that anyone can totally make themselves no matter what you skill level may be. But before we get started, I want to introduce myself first for those of you that I have not had the pleasure of meeting.
My name is Bethany and I blog at Southern Couture where you can find DIY, crafts, home décor, recipes, party ideas, etc. Hop on over and introduce yourself. I would love to meet you!
DIY Moss Covered Arrangement
Now let’s get started with the fun part. Let’s talk shopping! I love to go shopping and especially at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I am sure everyone has heard of these stores and been there with an addiction like mine.
But if you haven’t, it is basically full of beautiful home décor, clothes, shoes, and just about anything else you can think of, from brand name retailers but for a fraction of the price.
I recently did a mini-makeover on my master bathroom and have been searching for something else to give it a little touch of nature. I saw several of the planters with gorgeous succulents or boxwood greenery. Well this got me to thinking. I love moss so why not do something of my own that would cost much less but still look just as gorgeous.
Which now brings me to this beautiful DIY moss covered arrangement.
Supplies:
- Moss
- Styrofoam or small ball- I used a 6” ball.
- Planter- I found mine at the dollar store so you just can’t beat the price.
- Mod podge
- Foam brush
- Skewer
*Let me first say that Styrofoam and moss can be pricey so be sure to use a coupon if you buy it at a craft store or even check at your local dollar store.
- Place a skewer on the bottom of your styrofoam ball to make it easier to hold while you place the moss.
- Using a foam brush, paint the mod podge over the entire ball.
- Place the moss or sprinkle it over the entire ball until it is completely covered. *I recommend doing this over newspaper as it can become messy. Plus you can reuse the moss that doesn’t stick.
- Remove the skewer and place the ball in the planter.
You are now ready to display your arrangement and add some color to your space. I placed mine around my garden tub. It works perfectly to bring a little bit of nature inside. Sit it next to a DIY vase, with more beautiful flowers and it will all look amazing in your living area!
You could also place it beside several old books and a candle. The Bible below was actually my great grandmother’s and are very special to me.
This project cost me about $4.00 to actually make. How affordable is that? Plus you can make more and different sizes to use throughout other areas in your house.
I hope you will enjoy the little things in life like this simple DIY as much as I do. I think you’ll also love these decorating ideas for your home too:
