It is the end of my sons first year of school AND his birthday! So I wanted to do something for him to help celebrate the two milestones!

I secretly snuck out to Walmart, to purchase all the goodies for his big surprise.

I picked up SkittlesĀ®…

My son had NO idea what was going on that day when I got home. All he knew, was I was going in-and-out of the house with some pretty good looking items.

When he stepped outside, he couldn’t BELIEVE his eyes!

Look at all of that CANDY!!!! And ice cream, bubbles, and water guns, and balloons, and…

…he was a bit excited.

My boys are still pretty little, so I always try to think of something fun to do that won’t entice them to put something in their mouth, that they’re not supposed to. So I got to thinking…

Why not use SkittlesĀ®, to make their own colored “water,” for their water guns!!? Let’s make it even better, and put them in white shirts so they can see the “war wounds!?”

Who knew we’d make their own Tie-Dye shirts while we were at it! šŸ™‚

Summer Fun Activity for the Kids

I grabbed a few clear plastic cups, and clear carbonated beverage. I wanted my kids to see the “fizz,” of the color coming off of the SkittlesĀ®, dying it all of the different colors. But you could use water I’m sure! {It would be less “sticky.”} Ā  s to make your own tie-dye shirts! & Candy Bar Cart for an afternoon full of Summer fun!!! fantabulosity.com Ā  Ā I let my son pour out the liquid in to the cup, to help him with his hand-eye coordination. {aaaand only because we were outside.} šŸ™‚ Ā  I only put about a 1/4 cup in each glass, because really… you don’t need a whole lot of it for the water gun for this little activity. Plus, less liquid, means stronger in color… s to make your own tie-dye shirts! & Candy Bar Cart for an afternoon full of Summer fun!!! fantabulosity.com Ā  Next, I had him pick out all of the reds, all of the purples, all of the greens, and all of the yellows. {another great learning activity!} Ā  s to make your own tie-dye shirts! & Candy Bar Cart for an afternoon full of Summer fun!!! fantabulosity.com

Ā  His next task was to put all of the separated colors in to their own cup, and watch the colors dissolve in to the liquid!!!

Ā  After about 5 minutes of watching the liquid change colors… it was reading to pour in to the water guns! One color at a time of course! s to make your own tie-dye shirts! & Candy Bar Cart for an afternoon full of Summer fun!!! fantabulosity.com Ā  Since my son had never really played with water guns before, I let him experiment on the sidewalk before actually putting the shirt on and going to town with his little brother. šŸ˜‰ Ā  s to make your own tie-dye shirts! & Candy Bar Cart for an afternoon full of Summer fun!!! fantabulosity.com Ā  s to make your own tie-dye shirts! & Candy Bar Cart for an afternoon full of Summer fun!!! fantabulosity.com

The boys slipped on their shirts, grabbed some sunglasses off of the cart, and started firing the water guns!

After a couple of hours of being outside playing with the summer goodies…They were EXHAUSTED…

and this momma was beat… šŸ™‚

P.S. Ā I let the shirts dry for a day or two, and then let them wear it again. Hee Hee. Not sure how well the colors will stay after washing, BUT… make sure you wash it alone, and not with anything else, or the colors may bleed!

I doubt you want that white shirt of yours, tie-dye! šŸ˜‰ Ā  I also wanted to give you all a freebie for your Summer fun, to celebrate school being out! I just wish I would have created this before mine, so I could have framed it in a cutie-patootie white frame, and included it on the candy cart!

I’m thinking you could use this to surprise your kiddo too! Put it in an envelope and have him/her open it to see the surprised look on their face!! Ahhh… so fun! Options are endless!
