Our review of the El Dorado Casitas Royale Resort: In a nutshell, we’d definitely go back, and here’s why…
Hola, Buenos Dias!
Hello! Good Day!)
Yes, I just returned from a little slice O’ Heaven…
Riviera Maya, Mexico!
We had a BEEEE-YOU-TIFUL romantic weekend getaway, and I had to share it with you because we loved this resort.
El Dorado Casitas Royale Resort
For the past few years, we have snuck away to Mexico with some of our friends, for a quick weekend getaway for a little R&R, and friend time.
In the past, we had always went to the Excellence Resort, like for my husband’s surprise 30th birthday party, and although we loved that resort, we wanted to mix it up a bit.
It was a no-brainer, when we saw the photos and reviews of the El Dorado Casitas Royale Resort in Riviera Maya.
P.S. If you’re heading to Mexico soon, make sure you get your hands on this Mexico packing list before you go, so you don’t forget something! Then, get my best tips for going to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico so you’re extra prepared!
The planning began, and before we knew it, we were OFF to sunshine and pina coladas. Multiple…. pina coladas.
Airplane Photo… it’s tradition.
Cancun Airport Arrival Photo… it’s tradition…
Plus… we both got some new shades in the Atlanta airport so we had to see what we looked like. 😉
and we’re off… on our way to the resort. Just a tip: We used USA Transfers to take us, and they were FABULOUS. Private transportation, so we didn’t have to share a ride with others. Not that we don’t like sharing… but sometimes it takes forever to get to your resort when you have to drop others off at their’s before you get to yours.
We have arrived, and were greeted with champagne, a cold towel, and a golf cart to take us to our room. {Or casita rather.} 😉
We totally made a pitstop, and visited the little coconut stand on the way to our room. I mean, that 3 minute ride to our room was a long one. It was hot, and we were thirsty. 😉
We were starved, so we immediately went to a nearby restaurant, and my first meal in Mexico is ALWAYS a heaping plate {or two} of nachos with guacamole. There’s just nothing like it… I’m sorry.
Now if I could just get my hubby off of the phone. But the poor thing works so hard, that it takes him a little time to unwind on vacation, so I’m patient. 🙂
Tour of the Resort:
I made sure to snap some photos of the resort first thing for you, because I know how I can get when I get in the vacation groove… the camera can get a little heavy so I leave it behind in the room.
I only managed to get a photo of the tub in our room… sorry about that. I think the coconut drink was kicking in, and I forgot to take photos of the rest of the room. But it was stunning! Trust me.
See that window by the tub? Yeah… that’s the window to the private outdoor shower. This was crazy nice to have.
So we stayed in a casita at the resort. They have different types of rooms, and although I didn’t see the Royale side of the resort, I’ve talked to other people that have stayed in those, and they say it’s nice too!
The casitas I believe, are bigger, than the other rooms. I think?
Here’s my sweets, planning a spa day for us I believe. If there’s anything I love the most about resorts in Mexico, it’s the spa. You can always bet you’ll find us in the spa on the first day if it’s possible.
What I especially love about this resort, is that you can literally walk right out to a pool that is shared only with a few others in your casita “zone,” per-say. So although we didn’t request a “swim-up,” room, we could take 10 steps, and we were jumping in to our own pool, and pool bar. It was pretty fabulous.
I totally took a nap on this “bed-swing,” by the pool one day, while my hubby chatted it up with our friends in the pool. He can make friends anywhere, so I didn’t feel bad one bit when I left his side to catch some shuteye. 🙂
Something else I realized about this resort, is that you’re never fighting over cabanas or beach chairs. Some resorts are very limited in the amount of chairs and cabanas that they offer, but the El Dorado Casitas Royale, did NOT disappoint. The cabanas also had towels and bottles of water on them every morning waiting for you! Not kidding.
So the whole time we were there, we did hear people talk about the beach. Some weren’t impressed with the looks of the beach, but almost all said that it was “okay.”
I’m not a huge “beach,” person, because I’d rather hang out by the pool. So the beach didn’t bother me a bit. The resort is so large, that you could easily walk down to a different part of the resort though and see a prettier beach than what I show you here:
Oh lookey here… My stud of a husband walking towards me, to join me at the pool. Yes, he’s talking on the phone, but it was to a buddy so he wasn’t working too hard this time. 🙂
My friend caught a picture of us one night at dinner, in one of the MULTIPLE restaurants that they have. We were tickled with how good the food was everywhere!
Oh yes… the night my husband signed me up, unknowingly for karaoke. I was TERRIFIED! It had been 14 years since I had done this in front of a huge crowd, and needless to say… I screwed it up. The pina coladas may have had something to do with this.
What’s that you say??? Did I slap my husband for signing me up? You bet. 😉
We stayed at the El Dorado Casitas Royale Resort for 5 days.
Would we go back? Yep. But I think if we go back to this resort, we will stay longer. With a big resort like this, we feel like we didn’t get to see and experience all that we wish we could have.
If/When we go on a short weekend trip to Mexico again, we may pick a smaller resort. But we will DEFINITELY pick the El Dorado for a longer stay!
We were able to grab a photo with our BFF traveling buddies before we left.
Have you been to the El Dorado Royale Resort in Riviera Maya?
I wanna hear about it… let me know what you thought!
If you’re planning to travel here soon and have any questions… let me have it! I’ll see if I can help!

Hi Tiffany! You know, I bought this from Saks Off 5th a couple of years ago and it looks like they don’t have it right now. BUT… I just went to look to make sure, and while I was there, I saw that they had super cute sun hats SUPER cheap right now. -Right here–> http://rstyle.me/n/crcx66bne5f (affiliate) Maybe you’ll find one similar that you like!???
