Alright, we all know how much I love a Mexico vacation. There’s something about the caribbean that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Perhaps it’s the fresh coconut drinks, and the warm nights with an ocean breeze. So any chance that I can squeeze a little caribbean in my home here in the midwest… I do.
I’ll never forget the first time that I saw pre-made mango salsa in the grocery store. It was like we finally made it. Mango salsa!!? Now I don’t have to make it on my own, AND I get to feel a little tropical!? Deal.
For the last and final day of Hot Dog week, I’ve saved this one for last. The sweet heat dog. A hot dog topped with pre-made (or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can make your own) mango salsa, mixed with a sweet-chili sauce. The two combined offer a big bang for your tastebuds. Slap it on a dog, and you can pinch me.
Sweet Heat Dog
- 1 hot dog
- 1 hot dog bun
- 2 Tablespoons mango salsa
- 1/2 Tablespoon sweet chili sauce
- Cook hot dog according to package directions.
- Place in a hot dog bun.
- In a bowl, combine a few dashes of sweet chili sauce, with mango salsa. (Just enough to coat the salsa. You don't want it too runny or it will make your hot dog bun soggy.)
- Place salsa on top of the hot dog and devour!
