Decorating and organizing my laundry room has been on my agenda for a good TWO years now, and I’ve FINALLY tackled the most aggravating aspect of the room. The wire shelving struggles of small items falling through, and WORSE… when laundry detergent would “drip,” from my laundry detergent container, on to the clothes hanging on the wire shelving underneath. Challenge: ACCEPTED.
DIY Laundry Room Shelving & Storage Ideas
If you’ve been hanging around here for a while, and followed along during the “construction process,” of our new home, then you may not only know that I was due to have a baby in two weeks at the time of “move-in,” but that my husband did most of the design work.
Looking back, I wish so badly that I would have had the time/energy to plan some “extras,” out in our home, rather than scrambling at the last minute to just “get it done before baby comes.” But… we made it in before “baby,” arrived, and that’s ALL that mattered to me!
Time to Organize… Finally
Now that so-called, “baby,” is 2… this gives me more time and energy, coffee-stamina, to tackle a few items around our house. The laundry room has been on mind for a while, and I’ve even had a few conversations with our trim carpenter, to install industrial shelving. But it’s been pushed to the back burner, with normal every day life taking place, and my frustration was building & building, with this wire shelving.
Although affordable, and “clean,” looking, the wire shelving was always allowing small items to fall through the cracks, down behind my washer & dryer, and it just looked, “Blah.” PLUS… When we use liquid laundry detergent, and store it on top of the shelves, it would drip down on to our clean, hanging clothes underneath!
So to fix my wire-shelving struggles, I added Easy Liner® with Clorox® to them, and it has made a WORLD of difference.
Laundry Room Wire Shelving Hack
I’m going to show you just how simple it was to add this to my wire shelving. It literally took me only minutes!
• I simply measured the shelving in the laundry room, that I wanted to apply the Easy Liner® with Clorox® to.
• Then, took the measurements and roughly marked the Easy Liner® with a pencil, so I would know where to cut.
• I began cutting the length desired…
• and simply put the liner on the wire shelving. No adhesive, no tools, no nothing. My wire shelving hack, was conquered!
It was one of the easiest ways to fix my pain-in-the-butt problems with the wire shelving!
Laundry Room Decor Ideas
I know a laundry room, is… well… a laundry room. But I can’t help but try to decorate it, and make it look a little “pretty.” I spend a lot of time in there, so I’d like to enjoy my view while bonding with the washer and dryer. Am I right?!
However, I do like to keep things simple, modern, and “clean,” looking… Like the rest of my home on my home tour here, so I didn’t go CRAZY with the decor.
Laundry Room Storage Ideas
If you have space, adding individual baskets for each family member can REALLY make sorting laundry super easy. If someone is missing a sock, we all know where to look for it, when we find the other one. (IF we find the other one.)
So what’s on the other side of my laundry room!? It’s a wall of cabinets, and you can see how I decorated and organized the space HERE!
