Spring activity for kids: A fun and easy random act of kindness that the kiddos can learn from, all while having fun at the same time! A perfect Spring activity.
I’m always looking for an activity that will entertain my kids, where I can incorporate a lesson to be learned too. Like, when we grew our own wheatgrass.
Every Spring, I can’t WAIT to get these kids out of the house, and start airing out from those cooped-up “Winter,” blues. So when the temperatures start nearing the 60’s my mind starts thinking about all of the Spring activities for kids, that I can come up with.
Spring Activity for Kids – Random Act of Kindness
I want my boys to grow up, thinking the “norm,” is to be kind and help others. So for this spring activity, we did just that. (Well.. not so much the “help,” part, unless our neighbors were just feeling miserable that day because they didn’t have any cookies.) 🙂
Step 1: Making the Activity Last a While
We all had so much fun with this activity, because it actually lasted a half of a day, and since there were so many parts to our plan… the boys didn’t get bored, because there was always something else that we needed to do next. (Look how sweet they are below. Totally got lucky and caught that moment on camera. Five seconds before this, they were pulling each other’s hair.)
So what was our random act of kindness?
Step 2: Making Cookies
Making cookies, and delivering them to our neighbors, just to say, “Hello, and Happy Spring.”
We decided (Ok, I decided) to have them make “Gooey Butter Cookies,” because it was the perfect “easy,” cookie recipe for toddlers to do. Besides… they’re quite possibly my favorite cookie too.
Step 3: Packaging
After the little cutie patootie cookies were done, we packaged them away in to some of the cutest little box. They LOVED boxing these up, and feeling “big,” while playing a part.
We put the little chalkboard stickers on the box, (bought those at Target), and tied a little ribbon on with a note that had who it was “from,” on the other side.
Step 4: Deliver!
After we got them all ready for delivery, we did just that. Hopped in the wagon, and went for a stroll to deliver the goodies. I absolutely loved this part. My oldest was so excited to “give out cookies to doze people.” My youngest… well, he didn’t quite, “get,” the “giving out,” part just yet. He just enjoyed the stroll.
Let the Cuteness Commence…
And the heart “melts.” He got so much joy out of leaving the cookies on the doorsteps. His favorite part? When they would answer the door and come out to talk to him.
My kiddo: “Hi dare. Here’s you some cookies for you neighbor.”
Neighbor: “Oh my thank you! Where do you live at?”
My kiddo: “In my house! See ya!”
{Facepalm} But we’re learning.
Most precious part of the day? My youngest waving at just the houses, without anyone even being outside. He was just loving being “neighborly.” 🙂
I must say, I knew this Spring activity was a success, when my three-year-old looked at me when we went back home and said, “Mom… that was the best day ever. Those people liked getting those cookies.” 🙂
“Yes they did sweetie. You did fantastic.”
A life lesson learned of being nice to others, by a little random act of kindness… all while getting outside, away from that TV, and enjoying the Spring weather.
Then, it was time to head home and make one of our favorite spring dinner ideas. (Keeping things super easy of course because the kitchen was already a mess from our baking session.)
If you’re looking for an activity for your kids this Spring… don’t think twice. They’ll love it.
