2 1/2cupsOreo'sor other sandwich cookies, coarsely chopped
Instructions
In large pot, melt butter on low heat. Add marshmallows and stir constantly until melted. Stir in milk and remove from heat.
Add riced cereal and 2 cups cookies to marshmallows (reserving the rest of the cookies for the top). Mix until well combined. Place mixture into 8x8 baking pan. (Or 9x13 for thinner treats but that will also create more squares.)
Wet hands with water and press gently into pan just until even. Sprinkle remaining ½ cup cookies evenly over top and press gently into treats. Chill for 5 minutes. Cut into squares.
Notes
Tips:
The larger the pot the better for easy mixing.
Do not allow butter to cook, heat until just melted.
Use fresh marshmallows
It is not necessary to grease the pan. The butter in recipe is enough to prevent sticking.
If you prefer, you can place a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap over the treats to press them into pan. This will prevent your hands from getting messy.
Optional 9x13 Baking Dish
If you want to make a larger batch, you can make this same recipe, with the same ingredients and simply switch out the 8x8 dish for a 9x13 dish, which will result in a thinner rice krispy treat, so it stretches them out more.I do this when taking them to a potluck or somewhere where there will be a lot of kids!
