Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies: These homemade fudgy brownies are covered with not one but two layers of icing (a peanut butter layer and a chocolate layer)! This is the ultimate treat for peanut butter lovers and chocolate lovers!
Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark, nonstick pan). Grease bottom of 13x9-inch pan.
Brownie Directions
In the bowl of a stand mixer or a large bowl and using a hand held mixer, combine the sugar, melted butter, cocoa powder, and vanilla; mix well.
Add the eggs and beat well.
Add in flour and salt; mix until just combined.
Spread evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
Peanut Butter Layer Directions
In a medium bowl, beat powdered sugar, butter, peanut butter, and milk with an electric mixer on medium speed, scraping occasionally. Do this for about 2 minutes or until smooth and fluffy.
Spread filling evenly over brownies.
Chocolate Layer Directions
Place chocolate chips and sliced butter into a medium microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on high for 30 seconds and then stir.
Keep microwaving in 30 second increments until the chocolate chips are completely melted. If the chocolate seems too buttery at first, keep stirring until it’s smooth and well combined.
Cool for 10 minutes.
Add the 1 tablespoon of milk to the chocolate and mix well. Consistency should be easily spreadable.
Spread over the peanut butter filling.
Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes or until chocolate is set.
Cut into squares and serve!
Notes
STORAGE: Store your chocolate peanut butter brownies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. I haven't tried it, but I do think that these brownies would freeze very nicely! If it were me, I would slice the chilled brownie and then wrap each piece in plastic and put them in an airtight freezer bag to freeze. They should keep this way for 1-3 months!
