Dr. Pepper baked beans are sweet, smoky, and savory with bits of bacon and a gentle kick of heat. This easy baked bean recipe is perfect for cookouts, potlucks, and backyard barbecues.
Sauté the onions. In a large heavy-bottomed oven-safe skillet or cast-iron skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and saute the onions until translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
Add the beans and seasonings. Add the brown sugar, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepper to the skillet and stir until well combined and all the sugar has dissolved.
Add the beans and bacon. Stir in the beans, Dr. Pepper, and crumbled, cooked bacon. It will appear watery but it will thicken as it cooks.
Bake and serve. Bake in the oven uncovered for 45 minutes or until warmed throughout and bubbly on the edges.
Serve. Serve warm.
