This easy sugar cookie recipe is great for cut-out cookies, and they hold their shape! Plus, adding almond extract makes these the best tasting cookies!
1teaspoonbutter vanilla emulsionCan use regular vanilla extract
½teaspoonalmond emulsionCan use regular almond extract
1egg
2teaspoonbaking powder
3cupsall-purpose flour
extra sugar or powdered sugar for rollingIf desired
Instructions
Heat oven to 350 degrees
Cream the butter and sugar
Add in extract and egg
In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder
Slowly add flour mixture to wet ingredients, until mixed
Place dough out on rolling surface
LIGHTLY sprinkle with flour, IF necessary, to reduce sticking (too much flour can make the dough crumbly)
Knead dough, and roll out to a ¼ thickness
Cut cookies in to desired shapes
Bake for 6-8 minutes

* You may notice that you don't have to chill the dough for these cookies! Some prefer doing it though, and if you do, you can chill in the freezer for 15 minutes or in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.* If you'd like to make the sugar cookies in advance, you can bake them, allow them to cool, and then place in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. I've even frozen them for a year and they've lasted!
