Oreo Mousse: A delicious no bake dessert made with Oreo cookies, heavy whipping cream, and a few other simple ingredients to make a creamy mousse that can also be made in individual serving cups or in a large bowl, and it only takes 15 minutes to make, and chills for 3 hours before serving!
5ouncessemi sweet baking chocolatechips or baking bar chopped
3cupsheavy creamdivided
28chocolate sandwich cookies (I used original Oreos)
¼cuppowdered sugar
1teaspoonvanilla extract
Instructions
Prepare
Make space for finished mousse cups in your refrigerator.
Melt Chocolate
Heat ½ cup of heavy cream in the microwave for 40-45 seconds. Then pour the heated cream over chocolate. Let the chocolate and cream sit for 3 minutes before stirring.Once stirred, if the chocolate is not melted and smooth, microwave for 15 additional seconds and stir again. Continue to do this until melted. Once smooth, and melted, sit aside to cool.
Prepare Cookies
In a food processor finely blend 12 cookies. Reserve 1 Tablespoon of crumbs for garnish if desired.Next, place 8 cookies into a ziplock bag and roughly crush into pieces.
Making the Mousse
Add the remaining cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a large mixing bowl and beat until stiff peaks form. Fold cookie crumbs into cream mixture. Then remove 1 ½ cups of the cookie and cream mixture to use as the cream layer.
Pour the cooled chocolate into the remaining cookie and cream mixture. Carefully fold chocolate into the mixture until fully incorporated.
To Layer Dessert
Fill a small dessert cup about ⅔ full with chocolate mixture, sprinkle some roughly crushed cookies on top (about one cookie worth), then spoon the reserved cookie and cream mixture on top of crushed cookies, if desired sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs, and top with a whole cookie. Repeat in the remaining cups.
Refrigerate desserts for at least 3 hours before serving, to allow mousse to set.
Notes
Tip: For a cleaner look you can pipe the mixtures into the desert cups. Serving: You can serve this in a large bowl or individual serving bowls like we did.Storage: To store leftovers, refrigerate in an airtight container for about 3 days.
