Ingredients

store bought pie crust

salted butter, melted
1 stick, 8 tablespoons

granulated white sugar

brown sugar
50 grams, packed

large egg

egg yolk

pure vanilla extract

all-purpose flour

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line a 9 inch pie tin with pie dough.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
Add the egg and egg yolk and vanilla extract and whisk to combine.
Mix in the flour and salt until combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts if using.
Spread the batter evenly into the pie crust.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted halfway between the edge and center comes out clean.

Notes
Use melted butter.
This is the key to that soft, gooey interior.
Don’t overmix.
Once the flour goes in, stir gently so the pie stays tender.
Check doneness carefully.
Insert the knife near the edge, not the center. You want moist crumbs, not a dry filling.
Let it cool slightly.
The pie needs a little time to set so slices hold their shape.
