Beanie weenies in a skillet, and in a bowl.

Beanie weenies are a quick, family-friendly dinner made with hot dogs and baked beans in a sweet and savory sauce. This beanie weenies recipe is ready in about 30 minutes and always a hit with kids.

    Old-Fashioned Comfort That Still Works

There's just something about beanie weenies that feels like childhood. Tender hot dog coins simmered in warm, slightly sweet baked beans with a smoky, savory sauce. It's simple, filling, and the kind of meal you can throw together on a busy night without a second thought.

    FAQs About Beanie Weenies

What do beanie weenies taste like?

Beanie weenies are warm, nostalgic, and comforting. They're savory and slightly sweet with smoky undertones from the spices and Worcestershire sauce Beanie Weenies.

Can I use different hot dogs?

Yes. All-beef hot dogs are my favorite for flavor, but you can use your favorite brand or even turkey hot dogs if that's what you prefer Beanie Weenies.

Do I have to use canned baked beans?

Canned baked beans save time and make this recipe incredibly easy. You can use original flavor or try hickory or maple varieties. If you have a homemade baked bean recipe you love, you can absolutely use that instead Beanie Weenies.

Can I make beanie weenies ahead of time?

Yes. You can make them ahead and refrigerate for up to 4 days in an airtight container Beanie Weenies. They reheat beautifully on the stovetop or in the microwave.

    Can I freeze beanie weenies?

You can freeze them after they've cooled completely. Transfer to a freezer-safe bag, leaving room for expansion, and freeze flat. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating Beanie Weenies.

    Ingredients

    • Salted butter - Used to brown the hot dogs and build flavor right from the start. You can substitute olive oil, margarine, ghee, or even beef tallow if needed Beanie Weenies.
    • All-beef hot dogs - Sliced into coins for that classic beanie weenies look and texture Beanie Weenies.
    • Light brown sugar - Adds sweetness and helps create that classic sticky, savory sauce. Dark brown sugar works for a deeper molasses flavor Beanie Weenies.
    • Worcestershire sauce - Brings depth and savory richness to balance the sweetness Beanie Weenies.
    • Apple cider vinegar - Adds a slight tang that keeps the dish from tasting too heavy Beanie Weenies.
    • Garlic powder - Gives gentle garlic flavor without overpowering the dish. Fresh minced garlic can be used if preferred Beanie Weenies.
    • Dijon mustard - Adds subtle sharpness. Yellow mustard also works in a pinch Beanie Weenies.
    • Onion powder - Adds depth. You can sauté diced sweet onion if you prefer fresh Beanie Weenies.
    • Chili powder - Adds mild warmth and a hint of smokiness Beanie Weenies.
    • Smoked paprika - Rounds out the sweetness with a smoky finish Beanie Weenies.
    • Baked beans - The heart of the recipe. Original flavor works great, but feel free to experiment Beanie Weenies.
