Breakfast Waffle Charcuterie Board: This beautiful breakfast charcuterie board is perfect for special occasions, a baby shower, or really any day. It’s quick and easy to put together, but it looks so impressive!

Quick Overview: Make your waffles, such as these blueberry Belgian waffles, or even these chocolate waffles, and prepare your fresh fruit. Arrange waffles on the board, add small bowls of yummy toppings, fill in the spaces with fruit, and voila! Serve this epic breakfast board with a side of air fried bacon or sausage links for a breakfast people will rave about!

Why You’ll Love This Food Board Idea

Charcuterie boards are, in my opinion, the most fun way to display food! Charcuterie boards are so beautiful, and they also offer people a lot of options to customize their meals (Especially at Christmas time with this Christmas Charcuterie!)

But can you have a charcuterie board for breakfast? OF COURSE!

This breakfast platter is a delicious example. You get to fill the board with your favorite fruits, waffle toppings, syrups/spreads, and some delicious waffles (or other carbs, see the variations later on in this post)! If you’re a breakfast fan like me, then your mouth is probably watering by now.

This easy brunch charcuterie board is perfect for any time, but I think it would be especially fun at Easter brunch, Valentines Day brunch, or Mother’s Day!

    Ingredients

When it comes to charcuterie boards, you can use whatever ingredients your heart desires! That being said, we have a list of ingredients that we think will create the best waffle-eating experience. Here’s what you’ll need…

    • Blueberry Waffles (or for fun, these colorful waffles!)
    • Blueberries
    • Bananas
    • Kiwis
    • Grapes
    • Strawberries
    • Blueberry syrup
    • Granola
    • Nutella
    • Whipped Cream
    • Yogurt
Ingredients for the breakfast waffle charcuterie board.

    What does “charcuterie” mean?

Charcuterie is a French term that, when literally translated, means “a store selling cold cooked meats”. These days, charcuterie typically refers to a platter that has a mix of cold meats, cheeses, and sweet and savory items.

What is normally on a charcuterie board?

The general formula for a charcuterie board is:

    • Good cheese(s)
    • Cured meat(s)
    • Pickled items
    • Condiments and spreads (sweet and savory)
    • Fresh fruit
    • Often nuts or other salty items
    • And then crackers or other carbs fill in the remaining spaces

This charcuterie breakfast board is a bit of a twist on the traditional charcuterie boards, but we think it’s a great way to serve up breakfast favorites with flair! (You could even put these breakfast egg rolls on the board for fun!) You’ll even find a lot of other charcuterie board ideas to get tons of ideas from.

How to Create a Waffle Charcuterie Board

    1. Prepare your blueberry waffles
    2. Wash and prepare all of your fruits.
    3. Prepare all of your toppings by placing them in bowls, then set them aside.
    4. Once your waffles are ready, break them up into quarters and place them in a decorative pattern on a 12 x 18 (or similar) charcuterie board or wooden cutting board. Feel free to get creative!

Don’t have a charcuterie board or wooden cutting board? There are other suggestions below for what you can use!

    Waffles on a cutting board.
    Arrange waffles.
    1. Next, add in all of your prepared toppings sporadically around the waffles.

    1. Lastly, add all of the previously prepared fruits carefully to fill the remaining empty spaces and complete your breakfast charcuterie board.

    1. Pour yourself a cup of coffee, serve your breakfast or brunch board, and enjoy!

What can I use as a charcuterie board?

If you don’t have a charcuterie board or wooden cutting board, here are a few ideas of what you can use in its place…

    • Large serving platter – if you have a nice big platter of any kind, you can turn it into a charcuterie board!
    • Wood board – If you have any large, food safe wood board it would work beautifully for this charcuterie board.
    • Cookie sheet – use a baking sheet or tray to serve your breakfast waffle charcuterie. You can line your sheet pans with wax paper if you like.
    • Serve it on the table – you heard us right, you can lay down some wax paper on the table and create your charcuterie board right there!

    Variations

The ingredients we listed in this recipe are the ones we think make for a great waffle charcuterie board, but you can absolutely play around with other ones!

    Carbs

    • Instead of waffles, make mini pancakes! We would suggest trying our amazing fluffy pancakes from scratch or our quick and easy blueberry pancakes.
    • Instead of waffles or pancakes, you could also make this a French toast charcuterie board (or heck, why not mix all three)! Our brioche french toast would be amazing for a charcuterie board.
    • Replace the waffles on the board with mini bagels! If you do this, omit the syrup and add a spread instead.
    • Try throwing some mini cinnamon rolls on there for good measure (you won’t regret it).
    • You could use English muffins as the main carb. If you do this, omit the syrup and add a spread instead (like jam or marmalade).

    Savory Options

    • Add a bowl of crumbled, crispy bacon to the board to sprinkle over your waffles!
    • Cream cheese is a delicious addition to a waffle breakfast. Just make sure it’s nice and soft so it can be spread on the waffle without ripping it.
    • Thinly shaved salmon would be delicious (especially on top of the cream cheese we mentioned)!
    • Add some sliced cheese (brie, cheddar, whatever your family likes) to the board.

    Sweet Treats

    • Instead of Nutella, serve peanut butter as a waffle/pancake/bagel topping.
    • Instead of blueberry syrup, try maple syrup.
    • Fresh berries (blackberries, strawberries, raspberries).

    Yum!

    Storage

Store your waffles, toppings, and fruit in separate, airtight containers in the fridge for 3 days.

    Expert Tips and FAQs

How do I keep my waffles warm until I’m ready to serve without them getting soggy?

This can be a challenge, for sure! The best way to keep them warm is to put a wire rack on top of a baking tray and store that in a warm oven (170-200°F). Once a waffle comes off the iron, pop it straight in there until you are ready to load up your charcuterie board!

What drink goes well with a breakfast waffle charcuterie board?

You can’t go wrong with a classic glass of OJ, but you could also try making something super fun and festive like this orange sherbert punch. The kids will LOVE it.
