Caramel Cream Pie is an easy, no-fuss dessert made with a buttery cookie crust and a creamy caramel filling. It's perfect for potlucks, holidays, and make-ahead entertaining.

    A No-Fuss Dessert That's Always a Hit

This caramel cream pie is the kind of dessert you make when you want something reliable and crowd-pleasing. The filling is smooth and creamy without being heavy, the caramel flavor is rich but balanced, and the cookie crust adds just the right amount of texture. It's simple to prepare, easy to slice, and always disappears fast once it hits the table.

It's simple enough for a casual family dinner but special enough for holidays, potlucks, and celebrations. The best part? Most of the work happens in one bowl, and the fridge does the rest. If you love easy desserts with big payoff, this one belongs on your table.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Rich, creamy caramel flavor without being overly sweet
    • Easy make-ahead dessert that chills while you do other things
    • Simple ingredients you can find at any grocery store
    • Perfect for potlucks, holidays, and special occasions
    • No-bake style filling with just a quick baked crust

    Ingredients (With Notes)

Labeled ingredients for making caramel cream pie.
    • Golden sandwich cookies – These create a sweet, buttery crust that pairs perfectly with caramel. Graham crackers or shortbread cookies also work well if needed.
    • Salted butter – Adds richness and balances the sweetness. Unsalted butter works too, but just add a tiny pinch of salt.
    • Cream cheese – The base of the filling. Make sure it's fully softened so the filling stays smooth and lump-free.
    • Caramel topping – Look for the thicker caramel topping near ice cream toppings rather than squeeze-bottle sauces. Homemade caramel or dulce de leche also work beautifully.
    • Brown sugar – Adds depth and warmth to the caramel flavor. Granulated sugar can be substituted if needed.
    • Vanilla extract – Rounds out the sweetness and enhances the caramel notes.
    • Salt – A small amount helps balance the sweetness and keeps the pie from tasting flat.
    • Whipped topping – Keeps the filling light and fluffy. Homemade whipped cream is a great alternative.

How to Make Caramel Cream Pie

Preheat the oven to 350°F and set aside a deep-dish pie pan.

Place the golden sandwich cookies and melted butter into a food processor and pulse until fine crumbs form. Press the mixture firmly into the pie pan, making sure the crust is evenly packed along the bottom and sides. Bake for 8 minutes, then allow the crust to cool completely.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, caramel topping, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the whipped topping until fully combined and light.

Cool Whip added to other pie ingredients in mixing bowl.

Spoon the filling into the cooled crust and smooth the top with a spatula. Chill for at least 4 hours, or until set.

    Tips & Notes

    • Let the cream cheese soften fully at room temperature before mixing to avoid lumps.
    • Fold the whipped topping gently to keep the filling light and airy.
    • Make sure the crust is completely cool before adding the filling.
    • For best slicing, chill the pie overnight if time allows.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this pie ahead of time?

Yes! This pie is perfect for making a day in advance. Just wait to add the whipped topping and caramel drizzle until serving.

Can I freeze caramel cream pie?

Yes. Freeze the pie without toppings for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then add toppings before serving.

What's the difference between caramel topping and caramel sauce?
