Hot dog mummies on round plate.

Every Halloween party needs a spooky, yet simple treat, and these Hot Dog Mummies are a family favorite! Savory hot dogs are wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough, baked until golden, and finished with silly candy eyeballs.

Hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls to look like mummies.

They're festive, kid-friendly, and perfect as a quick pre-trick-or-treat dinner or a great Halloween recipe for a party.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Fun & festive - The perfect Halloween food idea for parties or after-school snacks, along with these Mummy Rice Krispie Treats and Mummy Cookies.
    • Quick & easy - Just 25 minutes from start to finish.
    • Kid-friendly - Kids love wrapping the "mummies" and adding the eyes.
    • Crowd-pleaser - Great for serving with dips like ketchup, mustard, or cheese sauce.

    Ingredients (with Notes)

Ingredients on counter for making mummy hot dogs.
    • 1 (8-ounce) pack crescent rolls - Convenient and flaky; pizza dough works too, but it's less buttery.
    • 1 (8 count) package bun-length beef hot dogs - Beef holds the dough better, but any type works.
    • ¼ cup salted butter, melted - Margarine can be swapped in a pinch.
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder - Optional, but adds a "garlic knot" flavor.
    • 16 candy eyes - Or DIY edible eyes with mozzarella and olives. Use any extra candy eyes to make Mummy Oreos, Halloween Snack Mix or Halloween Pretzel Sticks.
    • 1 teaspoon ketchup - Used to "glue" the eyes in place.
    • Serving suggestions - Serve with ketchup or mustard for dipping.

    Instructions

    • Preheat & Prepare - Heat oven to 375°F. Line a 9×13 baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Form the Dough - Pinch the seams of the crescent rolls together to make one large sheet.

    • Cut Strips - Slice the dough into 16 thin strips using a knife or pizza cutter. (Leftovers? Roll them into crescent bites!)

    • Wrap the Mummies - Wrap 2 strips of dough around each hot dog, leaving a gap near the top for the eyes. Place on prepared sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.

    • Brush with Garlic Butter - Mix melted butter and garlic powder, then brush over the dough.

    Tips & Notes

    • Don't skip leaving a gap for the eyes - it makes them look extra spooky!
    • For extra flavor, tuck a strip of cheese under the dough before wrapping.
    • Want spicy mummies? Drizzle with hot sauce before serving.

    Ingredients

    • 8 ounce pack crescent rolls
    • 8 beef hot dogs bun-length
    • ¼ cup salted butter melted
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • 16 candy eyes
    • 1 teaspoon ketchup
    • Serving suggestions: ketchup and or mustard for dipping

    Instructions

    • Preheat and prepare your pan. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a 9×13 baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Create 1 sheet of dough. On a flat nonstick surface like a cutting board, pinch the crescent seams together so it's one sheet of dough.
    • Cut the dough into strips. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut 16 thin strips. You may have leftover dough, that's ok! Roll it up and make crescent bites!
    • Wrap the hot dogs. Carefully wrap 2 strips of dough around each hot dog, making sure to leave a gap in the dough towards the top of the hot dog for the eyes. Overlap the dough as you wrap it, just like a mummy's wrappings, and place each dough-wrapped hot dog on the parchment-lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
    • Make garlic butter. In a small bowl, combine the butter with the garlic powder and brush it over the crescent dough with a pastry brush.
    • Bake. Bake uncovered for 10-15 minutes or until the dough has just begun to turn golden brown.
    • Add the eyes. Let them cool for about 5 minutes and then add the eyes to the gap at the top of the mummy's wrappings. Use a dot of ketchup under each eye to secure them.
    • Serve. Serve warm with ketchup or mustard for dipping
