I will say, there’s definitely an advantage to planning a party. Especially a party that I have to experiment with signature drink recipes…
My Favorite Things party, will be a “plaid,” theme… laying a little heavy on the red. So I knew I wanted at least ONE red drink on my table, so a Red Apple Martini soon became the “one.”
When I’m hosting, I ALWAYS want to create a wow factor for my guests. It’s the best part of entertaining for me! I want my guests to feel “welcomed,” and to hopefully give them the thought:
I’m so glad that I came.”
Last year, for my Favorite Things party, I created a Champagne Bar for the girly girls, and WHEW! They LOVED & DEVOURED it. So this year, I decide to create the same “Wow,” factor but mix it up a bit. (Ha… no pun intended.)
Martini Bar
This year I will be creating a martini bar for the sweet gals, with a couple of signature martini’s that they can easily whip up.
During the search for martini bar goodies, I found the PERFECT martini glasses, just in time. They’re the Libbey® Glass Perfect Signature™ Auden Martini Glasses, from Bed Bath and Beyond. They have that tall, skinny stem, that screams a “modern,” look, which will look fabulous, displayed with all of the goodies on the table.
When I was shopping around, I kept seeing other martini glasses that had chunky stems, zigzag stems, and some that had a “cloudy,” look. They just weren’t cutting it for me. Then… I found these lovelies. You may not think so, but what your glass looks like, can make a BIG difference in what your whole martini bar looks like.
Since my Favorite Things party is hosted right around the holiday’s this year, I added a little coconut to the rim of the martini glass, and with the Red Apple Martini deliciousness… it looks like an upside-down Santa hat, right!? Eeeeek! Super fun. I cannot WAIT to get these in front of my gal pals.
Red Apple Martini
This martini could definitely be served any time of the year.
• It’s fruity enough for a Summertime Martini
• “Fitting,” enough for a Fall Martini
• and the PERFECT color for a Winter Martini
How to Rim the Glass
I found the CUTEST idea, to rim the glass with coconut from Blue Ribbon Kitchen.
Light corn syrup is my best friend, when it comes to lining glasses. It has a sweet taste, and with it being almost transparent, you can barely see it.
In a small plate, combine coconut flakes and white sanding sugar or small white sprinkles, if desired.
In another small plate, add a little light corn syrup.
Lightly dip {or you’ll have excess syrup rolling down your glass} the outside edge of the rim into the corn syrup.

{Just like rimming a margarita glass for salt!}
