Whelp, you know I love to travel. Thank goodness the hubs does too, or I’d be traveling by myself. This was the second time we had been to Avon Colorado, and both times were outstanding!
We visited once when it was warmer {you know, sitting outside having dinner on the patio}, and this time when you better have your heavy coat handy or you’ll lose a limb due to frost bite. Ok ok… not that cold, but cold.
I HATE skiing. Yeah, we were going to a HUGE ski area, but I hate skiing. Why do I hate it? Because I can’t stand doing something that involves me being coordinated enough to remain upright on a slick surface. Me+Coordination=Fail.
BUT… when the idea of snowmobiling came up, I was game. We had an absolute BLAST on this trip, and I’d go back in a heartbeat. We always get a picture in the airport before flying out somewhere. I don’t know why… but I think it’s so we can see the excitement on our faces, because we are getting the heck outta dodge for some much needed R&R.

Yeah, so we had to kick off the relaxation mini vaca in style. So kill me, we had a cocktail before noon.

We made it! What an absolute, gorgeous view off of the patio of the home we were so lucky to be able to stay in for a few days.

This is my right-hand gal Kel. She’s the best travel partner. I swear, she’s always so prepared and even brings me a little gift every time we travel that I may like during our stay. Sheesh… talk about the BEST!

So although my hubby and I didn’t ski, some in our group did. We were able to hang at the resort until they got done, and we were able to take in the view. Absolutely dreamy.

I was so excited to take a trip with my best friends sister this time! She was so fun to have along on the trip, and seriously… who doesn’t love having some girl-time on vaca! I felt like I was part of the family by the end of the few days. 🙂

Ok… if you have a sensitive tummy, keep scrolling. When my husband saw “Rocky Mountain Oysters,” on the menu, he looked at me and said, “We’re getting them, and you’re eating one.” Well… after being with him for 15 years, I can never turn down a challenge. He always somehow leads me in the right direction, and I’m always glad I tried it. So…

I did it, and here is proof. Don’t know what Rocky Mountain Oysters are? Hmm… um… well they’re bull calf testicles. Yeah, and I ate them. Honestly… pretty darn good. I feel gross even saying that. But they were. Sorry… but don’t knock ’em til you tried ’em.

Every time we would hop in the car to drive to a destination, I swear I felt like I was in a nature calendar, stuck in the month of December. It was breathtaking, EVERYWHERE!

Alright… let’s hit it! It was time for snowmobiling. Guys… if you’ve never done this, PLEASE put it on your bucket list.

You could either choose to ride by yourself, or ride with someone. Well, I chose to ride with my husband. One, I can’t drive in snow, and I didn’t want to spend the majority of my time there learning how not to wreck. Two, I wanted to look around, so I figured what better way than to ride on the back. Three, my husband is amazing when it comes to driving one of these, and I felt totally safe the whole time. Well… except that time he did turn us over, but it was in slow motion so that doesn’t count. 😉

Haha! This was my view the whole time, and when we’d hit a bump my helmet would hit his… but it was all part of the fun!

We chose to go on a guided, 4 hour tour, and I’m so glad that we did. It would have been so easy to get lost up in those mountains, hit a bad spot or so many other things. With this, we were able to go see the best places, and even stop to get off and look around. I wish I could remember how high up we were right here, but I do remember my breathing was a tad shallow… so it was HIGH! It was stunning.

Weren’t we lookin’ all sexy in our snow suits? Yeah… I know. 😉

Our guide was nice enough to get a group shot of all of us while we were up at the tippy top! Heck if I know who was who in this photo, but that’s ok!

LOL… this kills me. Someone told us that we should get a “romantic,” shot up on the mountain.

We had so much fun on this trip, and I’m already getting antsy to plan another trip. If you get a chance, go visit Avon Colorado, which is near Vail, Colorado. It’s a great ski town, but perfect for those that want to get some R&R. Another trip in the books…
Thanks for following along! Until next time…

This vacation looks fabulous, good friends, cocktails and snuggling in the snow. The snowmobiles look fun but the Rocky Mountain Oysters? Well you are braver than I 🙂
I hope you will link this up with my Small Victories Sunday Linky, it’s open all week!

Haha! I don’t know why, but I can never turn down a food challenge. I’ve yet to be disappointed too! Thanks so much for coming by!
