Cream cheese stuffed celery, with seasonings sprinkled on top, sitting on white plate.

I’m always on the lookout for a fun new appetizer. These stuffed celery sticks with cream cheese have so much flavor and are easy to eat! Definitely an appetizer recipe that’s easy to make, and no cooking required!

I don’t think of celery as diet food – I just love the crunch it adds to a dish! Sometimes a package of celery is quite large, and I want to make sure I don’t waste any of it. Stuffing it with cream cheese is perfect for using it up.

Whether you like it on its own, ants on a log style, or prefer to mix it into a dish, celery adds the perfect texture. I love to mix it into a chicken pasta salad. And if you won’t use it all up right away, it’s easy to chop and freeze in pre-measured portions to add to your soup.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • Simple ingredients: These are all easy, no-bake ingredients you can add to your weekly shopping list.
    • Packs well: Store the celery and filling in the fridge to add to a packed lunch!
    • Easy to make: Using whipped cream cheese means you don’t have to wait for it to soften before proceeding.

    Ingredients Needed

Here’s what you’ll need to make this cream cheese stuffed celery.

Labeled ingredients for stuffed celery recipe sitting on cutting board.
    • Celery – You can pick up pre-cut sticks or cut your own. I like to make them all the same size for a pretty presentation. Do you think celery is too tough to eat? Try peeling the outside first!
    • Cream Cheese – Whipped cream cheese gives us a great texture that can immediately be mixed up and spread. Want even more flavor? See if your store has a veggie flavor whipped cream cheese.
    • Bacon – Cook up some extra bacon next time you make breakfast. You can also cheat and used pre-cooked diced bacon. Just be sure it’s real bacon!

How to Make Stuffed Celery Sticks

There’s hardly any prep to get these onto the serving platter!

Process images showing the steps for making stuffed celery.

STEP 1. Mix filling. Stir everything into the cream cheese until well combined.

STEP 2. Prep celery. Chop off any leaves and wash and dry the celery.

Tip: Make all your celery sticks the same length for the perfect presentation!

STEP 3. Stuff. Carefully spread the cream cheese into each celery stick.

STEP 4. Serve. Add more everything seasoning on top so there’s no doubt what flavor your filling is!

    Recipe Pro Tips

    • Use whipped cream cheese. Due to the air in the mix, this really does spread much better into the celery!
    • Small dice. Make sure your bacon and green onion are diced small enough to fit inside the celery sticks.

    Recipe FAQs

How do I store stuffed celery sticks?

I don’t recommend stuffing them ahead of time as the filling is more likely to slide right out. You can definitely mix up the cream cheese ahead though! I would also prepare the celery sticks right before stuffing. They can dry out if you prepare them in advance.

Can I reduce the fat in these celery sticks?

Feel free to use a reduced cream cheese if you like. I don’t recommend fat free though as the flavor and texture just aren’t the same.

What to Serve with Everything Stuffed Celery

Mix up some Everything But The Bagel Dip! This would be a great addition to a vegetable tray or charcuterie board. Add in more celery and some carrot sticks, plus crackers and focaccia slices.

    Ingredients

    • 8 ounces short celery sticks
    • 8 ounces whipped cream cheese
    • ¼ cup cooked bacon pieces
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon pepper
    • 4 dashes hot sauce or more if desired
    • 1 teaspoon everything but the bagel seasoning plus more on top
    • 2 green onions chopped

    Instructions

    • If needed, cut off brown ends of celery hearts, and remove any leaves.
    • Wash celery, and dry sticks with paper towel. (This is very important, or the cream cheese may not spread in to the celery stick well.)
    • In a small bowl, mix together cream cheese, bacon pieces, salt, pepper, hot sauce, everything but the bagel seasoning, and green onions. Stir until combined.
    • Using about 1 tablespoon of filling for each celery stick, spread the filling inside. This mixture should be enough to fill all of the celery but some packages may differ in size.
    • If desired, sprinkle extra “everything but the bagel” seasoning on top of each celery stick.

    Notes

    • Use whipped cream cheese as it is easier to mix together as well as fill!
    • Always dry your celery thoroughly or your filling will just slide right out.
