Pizza Sliders: Nothing beats biting into a hot pepperoni pizza but what about in sandwich form? These Pepperoni Sliders are easy to make and easy to eat.
The classic pairing of pepperoni and cheese – it’s my favorite pizza topping! I made it even easier to eat and share by sandwiching it inside slider rolls. The topping is out of this world and better than any crust addition!
If you also can’t get enough pepperoni, I’ve baked it into a bubbly pizza dip as well as tossed it into a savory monkey bread. And if pork isn’t your thing, you can also make turkey sliders or use a quick Friday fish slider option!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It uses a few ingredients: Nothing is easier than layering meat and cheese on buns, then topping with standard pantry seasonings.
- Make-ahead recipe: You can even freeze these individually to make quick lunches on the go.
- Ready in only 30 minutes: This comes together so quickly you can make it on even your busiest nights.
Ingredients Needed
Here’s what you’ll need to make this pepperoni pizza slider recipe.
- Rolls – Grab a pack of rolls that are all together in a slab. This makes for the easiest assembly of the sliders as you can overlap the toppings inside since you’ll be cutting them apart later. You can certainly use other rolls or homemade rolls, but you may want to carefully top each bun in that case.
- Meat – Pepperoni is my favorite here, but try out salami or other cured meats. If you would like to use something like sausage or bacon, be sure and cook it first as the sandwiches don’t cook long enough to cook raw meat.
- Cheese – The tang of provolone pairs perfectly with pepperoni, but feel free to use any of your favorite melty pizza cheese. Of course mozzarella is traditional on pizza, so we use that as well!
- Pizza Sauce – It would be a dry, sad pizza without a layer of sauce! Just use whatever you prefer from the store to make this meal quick.
- Seasoning – Melt some butter so your seasonings stick well. I tend to use Italian seasoning as well as some fresh parsley to really bring out the herbs.

How to Make Pizza Sliders
Nothing is easier than layering and baking! Set everything up in easy reach so you can get them in the oven fast.
Then it’s just a matter of layering!
STEP 1. Slice and sauce. Slice the slab of rolls horizontally and place on a baking sheet. Add sauce.
STEP 2. Begin layering. Start with sliced cheese for a sturdy base, then layer on the pepperoni evenly.
Tip: Carefully slice the slab of rolls so they remain intact. This ensures your toppings don’t melt out all over the place.
STEP 3. More cheese. Top with the shredded cheese and Italian seasoning.
STEP 4. Close it up. Add the top bun, then coat in melted butter. Finally, add more seasoning and the remaining cheese and you are ready to bake!
Recipe Pro Tips
- Line the baking sheet. For easiest cleanup, line your baking sheet with parchment or foil so the sandwiches peel right up.
- Use unsalted butter. I strongly prefer unsalted butter here as the seasonings, meat, and cheese all bring a lot of strong flavors.
Recipe FAQs
You can make these on a baking sheet or inside a 9×13 baking dish. It all depends what you have on hand and what you prefer. The baking sheet allows some cheese to ooze out the edges, giving you crispy bits. The sliders stay more contained in a baking dish. You might also have an easier time covering a dish with foil for baking rather than rolls on a sheet.
Short-Term Storage (1-3 Days): Allow the pizza sliders to cool to room temperature before storing them. This helps prevent condensation, which can make the sliders soggy. Place the leftover pizza sliders in an airtight container or wrap them tightly with plastic wrap. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1-3 days. If stacking the sliders, separate layers with parchment paper or plastic wrap to prevent them from sticking together. Consider labeling the container with the date to keep track of freshness.
Long-Term Storage (Beyond 3 Days): If you don’t plan to consume the pizza sliders within 3 days, it’s best to freeze them for longer storage. Wrap each slider individually in plastic wrap and place them in a zip-top freezer bag or an airtight container. Label the container with the date and contents for easy identification.
When ready to eat, thaw the frozen pizza sliders in the refrigerator overnight. Gradual thawing helps maintain their texture. Reheat the pizza sliders in an oven, toaster oven, microwave, or air fryer, depending on your preference. Consider using an oven or air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
What to Serve with Pepperoni Sliders
Fresh fruit and a salad is my go-to to round out a quick dinner like this. Setting out freshly cut produce means everyone can grab their favorites!
