If you’re like me, you’ve seen all the rage for whipped coffee (also called dalgona) all over Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. So after seeing so many fall in love with it over and over again, I knew it was time to try it in my own kitchen!
I was NOT disappointed and can’t wait to make it again and again and put more spins on this coffee recipe at home! You’ll also love this iced caramel latte too!
It’s so easy… here’s all you need…
How to Make Whipped Coffee
When making whipped coffee, just remember 2+2+2 and that will help a lot!
To make the meringue-like topping, you’ll only need:
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
Then, you’ll fill a coffee cup up about 3/4 of the way with milk. I used whole milk because that’s what we had on hand, but almond, skim or whatever milk you use should be just fine!
Whipped Coffee Topping
In a small bowl, mix together the coffee, sugar, and water using a hand mixer or hand blender, mix together for about 4-7 minutes. (The longer, the thicker it will get.)
If you want to do it by hand, you can use a whisk, but this may take a bit longer, and I heard that if you only use half of the water at first when hand whisking, it gives it a bit of a jump-start for the thickening process. After about a minute or two of mixing, add in the remaining tablespoon of water and mix until desired consistency!
Ready to Serve!
Once the topping is to the desired consistency, spoon out the coffee topping on to the cup of milk and enjoy, or use a spoon to blend the topping in with the milk for a creamy coffee consistency!
NOTE: If you don’t want to use all of the topping for one cup, simply save it in a container for the next day!
Hot or Cold?
I have only had this as cold as the milk provides, but you can also serve it over ice or even enjoy it warm!

Nope. You can even cut this recipe in half if you like, or make extra and save it to have whipped coffee a couple of days in a row!
You can, but it’s not idea. Filtering out the grounds, may be a pain, it may take longer to get the texture of the topping you like and it may not have as strong of a flavor.
You bet! Warm-up your milk before adding on the topping. If you want to warm up the whipped topping, carefully do so as it may lose it’s texture.

I made this and the night before put oat milk with dried culinary lavender in a mason jar in the fridge. I used one tablespoon to the 32 oz box of oat milk. I’ve done this with regular whole milk too, I just prefer the oat milk. Strain the lavender from the milk and either heat then add coffee mixture or serve cold with the coffee mixture. It is so delicious either way! The lavender infused milk will last in fridge until the expiration date of the milk. It never lasts long in mine!
