Hot Dog Week – The Southern “Pep” Dog: Day 5 of 6 of the BEST (and easy) gourmet hot dog recipes! This southern style dog will have your toes a tappin’.

Hot Dog Week: Great topping ideas for hot dog bar

Welcome to “Hot Dog Week!” (A dedicated week to my ever so favorite guilty pleasure… the hot dog.)  If you’re here for the first time, then you may not know that I’m a party-throwin’ kind of gal. I love to host get-togethers for any occasion. New babies, birthday’s, or even to celebrate the fact that we can just get-together.

Fall brings a whole new meaning to hosting and celebrating. It means s’mores around the firepit, pumpkin EVERYTHING imaginable, and roasting hot dogs. This year, I’ve decided that a hot dog bar will be in the works for most of our gatherings. A kid (and adult) favorite… a hot dog is sure to please.

With endless amounts of topping ideas, a hot dog bar can be easily styled, and your guests will have a blast playing and experimenting with the different choices.

One of my favorite combos that we came up with for Hot Dog week, is the “Southern Pep Dog.” What’s in it you may say? Oh just wait…

    Southern “Pep” Dog

    Hot Dog Week: White BBQ

A crazy delicious blend of WHITE, yes WHITE BBQ sauce, and peperoncinis! (That spelling gets me every stinking time.)

Hot Dog Week: Southern "Pep" Dog with White BBQ Sauce. OMG!!!

I had never heard of white BBQ sauce until my gal pal Kate was telling me about it during one of our grocery shopping trips. (I like grocery shopping with a friend from time to time. It makes it a lot more fun. Plus “Friend Time + Grocery Shopping = Two Birds with One Stone.”

White BBQ just seemed totally out of my comfort zone. But the minute the Southern Pep Dog ended up on my taste buds… it was game over. A new love. For sure.

I hope you are enjoying “Hot Dog Week,” and I’m super sad to say that tomorrow is the 6th and final hot dot recipe, to inspire your hot dog bar ideas. (Or even weeknight dinner slump inspiration.)

If you’ve missed the previous hot dog recipes, you can find those here:

and tomorrow… well, you may just find me eating this type of hot dog, on one of my Mexico trips!

Hi Dale! I’m happy to help! Do you mean the little baskets with the ribbon? If so, I’m so bummed because I just spend about 30 minutes online trying to find these for you! I guess they don’t make them anymore. 🙁 The closest thing I found that would/could work are these food boats! I hope it’s helpful! I’m sorry, I wanted to stock up on them too!
