Snicker Apple Salad
Hello, hello! It’s Meg from Meg’s Everyday Indulgence popping in again and I can’t wait to share this recipe with you!
This midwestern classic dish consists of:
- granny smith apples
- chopped Snickers candy bars
- and a creamy, pudding based “dressing.”
It all comes together in a tart, sweet magical little dish that you can bet is on most holiday and potluck tables.
I mean, when you can eat fruit and candy in the same bite AND call it salad, I think you’re winning at life. Midwesterners know how to live, right?
Salad Side Dish or Salad Dessert?
Even my house is divided on the subject. My opinion is dessert since most of the components would be considered dessert on their own. But you do you.
I’m pretty sure nobody is going to complain when snicker apple salad is in front of them.
How to Make Snicker Apple Salad
This snicker apple salad couldn’t get easier to make.
Instant Pudding Mix + Milk
I start with the sauce for the salad. An instant pudding mix and half the amount milk the pudding calls for is whisked together until it’s thick and creamy.
Cool Whip or Whipped Cream
Then fold in a container of Cool Whip. You know it’s going to be good when Cool Whip is involved.
Set the sauce aside while you prep the rest of the ingredients.
First, chop up most of a bag of fun size snicker bars.
Hide the rest in the back of a cabinet for a rainy day. Amen.
Granny Smith Apples
Next the granny smith’s get a quick chop and all that’s left is to toss together everything.
The textures in this salad are one of my favorite things about the dish. The crisp granny smith apples with the chewy bites of snickers and all that creamy pudding and Cool Whip. It’s all kind of magical.
Snicker Apple Salad Tips:
I like to keep the apples and snicker chunks the same size so that everything is evenly distributed and you can easily get a bite of both in every spoonful. It’s kind of critical that you get all that goodness each time.
