Cooked oven-baked bacon on a baking sheet.

This is my favorite way of how to cook bacon in the oven, especially when making large batches! In only about 10 minutes, we have bacon ready for breakfast or to add it to another recipe! Plus, no stove-top mess!

What to serve bacon with? So many things! It’s amazing with sweet dishes, like this brown sugar french toast and these strawberry cinnamon rolls. Or, with savory dishes such as these fried potatoes and onions.

We cook a lot of bacon in our house, whether it be turkey bacon or pork bacon. We also cook it different ways, such as frying bacon in the air fryer or cooking bacon in a George Foreman Grill. But baking bacon in the oven, has been the best way for cooking enough bacon for our family at once.

How to Cook Bacon in the Oven

Uncooked bacon slices on parchment-lined baking sheet.

Depending on how much bacon you’ll be baking, will determine the size of the baking sheet.

    1. Preheat your oven to 400° F.
    2. Line your baking dish with parchment paper.
    3. Next, place the bacon pieces on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet, without overlapping bacon pieces.
    4. Place bacon in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes. (Thicker bacon pieces may need to bake longer, depending on if you like crispy or floppy bacon.)

    1. Remove bacon from the backing sheet, and place on to a paper towel-lined plate, to drain excess grease.

    Baked Bacon Pro Tips

    • Parchment paper. I love using parchment paper for multiple reasons. One being, it helps keep the baking sheet clean. Two, when the bacon grease cools, it’s easy to wrap up the grease and throw the entire thing in the trash.
    • Save bacon grease. I love saving my bacon grease for other dishes like my white gravy recipe! So once I remove the bacon strips from the baking sheet, I’ll tip the baking sheet or parchment paper up, and pour it in to a container to store in the freezer.

    How to Use Cooked Bacon

If you have leftover bacon (is there even really such a thing?) here are some of my favorite dishes to use bacon in to!

    Storage

Store any leftover bacon in the refrigerator once it has cooled off. Storing it in an airtight container or bag is best.

If you love cooking bacon just to eat it or to serve it on your favorite sandwiches or recipes, make sure you try this smoked candied bacon too.

    Equipment

    • baking sheet

    Ingredients

    • 7 slices bacon or however many slices you need to make! The time and temperature will not change.

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 400° F.
    • Line baking sheet that's large enough to hold your 7 slices bacon, with parchment paper.
    • Arrange bacon slices on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet, without overlapping the slices.
    • Place bacon in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes. (NOTE: Oven temperatures can differ, thickness of bacon can differ, and the desired crispiness can differ. It's best to watch the bacon closely to see when it has reached your preferred doneness.)

    Notes

When bacon has finished cooking, remove bacon from baking sheet with tongs, and place on a plate lined with papertowels so it drains the grease.
