⭐️ Why This Recipe Works
- It uses a few, simple ingredients: Using only 7 ingredients, that are easy to get at any grocery store, or that you may even already have on-hand, this Oreo and Nutella cheesecake recipe comes together perfectly, with little effort.
- Make-ahead recipe: It’s best to let this cheesecake chill for at least 5 hours (or longer if needed) before serving so making it in advance is not only required, it’s a bonus for those busy days when you need a dessert.
- Double Chocolate: With the crunch Oreo crust, it pairs so well with the smooth, creamy, chocolate filling, giving it a double chocolate flavor in each bite.
🧾 Ingredients Needed
I’ve highlighted a couple of ingredients with some relevant notes. Aside from this, the ingredients needed are pretty basic.
- Oreo Crumbs: Make sure your crumbs are fine crumbs. You can achieve this with a food processor or even by placing the whole cookies in a plastic, sealable bag, and mashing the cookies with a rolling pin.
- Nutella: Off-brand chocolate hazelnut spread works just as well in this recipe and is a great way to save some money.
- Heavy Cream: The heavy cream helps make the cheesecake smooth and velvety. The smoother your cheesecake is, the easier it will be to slice.
- Cream Cheese: You will want to use full-fat cream cheese for this recipe as low-fat or other versions can cause it to have a different texture.
📖 Substitutions
If you find that you need to substitute any of the ingredients, here are some suggestions that you may find helpful:
- Crust – This cheesecake also goes great with a graham cracker crust or a Biscoff crust recipe. Simply use the same amount of crushed graham crackers as the Oreo base as instructed.
- Nutella – Although we haven’t tried this for this specific recipe, you could try using peanut butter instead of Nutella. However, then it would be a lot like this no bake peanut butter pie but with an Oreo crust.
🍳 Equipment
For this recipe, you’ll need a 9-inch springform pan to be able to slice and serve this cheesecake for the best results.
👩🏻🍳 How to Make this Nutella Cheesecake Recipe
The steps are incredibly simple to make this no bake cheesecake.
This creamy cheesecake is broken into 3 components:
- Oreo crust
- Creamy Nutella filling
- Chilling for at least 5 hours (24 hours will guarantee a “set” cheesecake, in case your freezer is different than mine.)
I suggest planning ahead well, knowing that this cheesecake needs to chill in the refrigerator for a few hours.
*Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full ingredients list & instructions!*
First, you’ll begin by making the crust that will be pressed down in to a springform pan.
STEP 1. Combine Oreos and butter. Use a fork to stir together the crushed Oreo crumbs (these should be in fine crumbs) and the melted butter in a medium-sized bowl. Once the ingredients form a wet, sandy mixture, press the mixture into a standard 9-inch springform pan (Images 1 & 2).
STEP 2. Whip cream cheese. In a separate medium-sized bowl, use an electric hand mixer to whip the cream cheese until it is smooth and creamy.
STEP 3. Create cheesecake filling. Combine cream cheese with granulated sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Use the electric mixer to incorporate the added ingredients to the cream cheese until the mixture is homogenous (Image 3).
Tip: It is important to make sure that the mixture is completely blended before you pour it into the springform pan. Any lumps of cream cheese that are left in the mixture will float to the top of the mixture before it finishes setting.
STEP 4. Mix Nutella in. Whisk in the Nutella until no clumps of Nutella remain in the cream cheese mixture (Image 5).
STEP 5. Top crust with filling. Pour the cream cheese mixture into the springform pan and cover it with plastic wrap. Allow the cheesecake to sit in the freezer for at least 5 hours, and even 24 hours is recommended so there’s no doubt it will be fully set (Image 6).
STEP 6. Serve and enjoy! Remove the cheesecake from the refrigerator, cut a slice, and enjoy!
💭 Recipe Pro Tips
- For a smooth cheesecake. The heavy cream helps make the cheesecake smooth and velvety. The smoother your cheesecake is, the easier it will be to slice.
- Clean slicing. Using a sharp chef’s knife, soak the blade in hot water before slicing. Dry the knife off (while the blade is still warm) and then slice the cheesecake. This will help cut a clean slice. Place back in hot water before slicing the next piece.
- Toppings. Although we love this cheesecake just the way it is, you can add your favorites to the top of the cheesecake with dollops of whipped cream or Cool Whip, mini chocolate chips, caramel or chocolate drizzle, and even crushed Oreos.
