Skip the mess and individual smores making and create a dutch oven s’mores dip instead! Perfect for dipping and everyone can enjoy their favorite camping treat with ease!

What you’ll love about this recipe
When going camping, or even just wanting camp food at home, sometimes the idea of smores sounds good… but the mess or uncooperative weather, doesn’t! That’s why I LOVE making air fryer smores, smores in the microwave, no-bake s’mores cheesecake or now… this new recipe that Homemade Heather is sharing with us today!
These dutch oven s’mores will blow your mind. This recipe is easily the tastiest thing we’ve ever made while camping!
We clearly love s’mores in all varieties. We’ve made skillet smores, mint oreo smores, cinnamon bun smores and even clay smores ornaments! There is just something nostalgic about combining graham crackers, melty chocolate and golden marshmallows.
This dutch oven smores recipe takes the rest of them to a whole new level. It’s like having a giant smores dessert cake while camping, seriously!

S’mores Dip Ingredients:
Yep, you guessed it! It’s the ingredients you usually use for s’mores around the campfire! So really, the difference will be in how it all melts, and how you serve/eat it, rather than chaning up the goodness of the ingredients!
- 1 pkg graham crackers (150 g)
- Semi sweet chocolate chips (100 g)
- Mini marshmallows (100 g)

Instructions:
1. Line the dutch oven with parchment paper. This step can be skipped but it helps to make clean up WAY easier.

2. Break the graham crackers into pieces and layer them on the bottom of the skillet.
3. Sprinkle chocolate chips onto the crackers.

4. Top with mini marshmallows and repeat these layers if desired.

5. Cover the dutch oven and cook over the fire or grill for 15-20 minutes.

Look at that ooey, gooey goodness! Just grab a graham cracker and dive in!

Substitutions:
Although our favorite is making the dutch oven smores this way, feel free to substitute ingredients with items such as:
- milk chocolate chips
- large marshmallows
- butterscotch chips
- mint chocolate pieces
- cinnamon graham crackers
- annimal crackers
Items to Dip in to S’mores Dip
Although you can use the typical graham crackers to dip in to this, it’s fun to mix things up from time to time! Items such as:
- strawberries
- apple slices
- rice krispy treats
- animal crackers
- bananas
- sugar cookies
I’m thinking a s’mores food bar would fit in nicely here where you can add all kinds of items to dip and let everyone choose their favorite! (Kind of like how Jessica did the chocolate fountain bar, and let everyone dip in their favorite goodies in to the melted chooclate!)
How to Store:
If you have leftover s’mores dip, wait until it has cooled off completely and store in an airtight container, in the refrigerator.
When ready to eat it again, carefully reheat in the microwave, in a microwave safe dish, in 30 second intervals until heated through.
Tips for cooking with cast iron:
- When cooking with cast iron, be sure to season the surface first.
- Always use gloves or oven mitts while cooking as the surface of the iron will be hot.
- Cook the recipe over an open fire using hot coals, not open flames. A fire that is too hot will burn the outside of your recipe and not cook the inside.
- Be sure to clean the cast iron with a rough vegetable scrubber, rinse and dry thoroughly before storing.

If cooking on the stove:
If you prefer to cook this on the stove, do so carefully over low heat until melted together. (Do not stir.) Caution: too high of heat can scorch the chocolate instead of melt it.Tips for Cooking S’mores in Cast Iron:
