Stove Top Stuffing Meatloaf uses the boxed seasoned stuffing mix for a flavorful, binder, to make this delicious old-fashioned, comfort food recipe.

A Classic Meatloaf Recipe with a Twist
In under an hour, this easy meatloaf recipe is prepped, baked and ready for eating.
Using Stove Top Stuffing in meatloaf is such a great binder instead of using the traditional saltine crackers, or bread crumbs like I use in my chicken meatloaf recipe.
Stove Top Stuffing can add a delicious flavor to recipes, which is why I also use it in this Crock Pot Chicken and Stuffing recipe and this Chicken and Stuffing Casserole.

Recipe Highlights:
- Ease of This Recipe: This meatloaf recipe is great for all skill levels, especially for beginners in the kitchen.
- Texture and Flavor: A tender, yet hearty savory bite of the meatloaf, combined with the smooth and sweet meatloaf topping is a tasty combination.
- Old-Fashioned Recipe: Meatloaf is a vintage dish that has been on Sunday dinner tables for years. Even though Stove-Top Stuffing hasn’t been around as long as meatloaf, I still consider this a classic dish that families will enjoy having together around the table for years to come.

Yes! Stove Top Stuffing is a pre-packaged mix of bread and seasoning that replaces bread crumbs in a classic meatloaf recipe.
Baking meatloaf uncovered is recommended, although if burning is a concern, due to rack placement or oven habits, it can be covered for the last half of baking.
This dish pairs really well with mashed potatoes & gravy, Southern green beans and roasted broccoli.
Ingredients Needed: (See recipe card below for the full recipe)
- ground beef – lean ground beef is recommended to cut down on the juices/fat that will form in the pan
- water – this will be mixed with the eggs
- eggs – Eggs will help bind the ingredients together to help the meatloaf hold it’s shape.
- Stovetop Stuffing Mix – I use the chicken flavor but you can also use the “Savory Herbs” flavor.
- yellow onion and garlic – Using garlic and onion powder instead will work too but the flavor is amplified when using fresh.
- salt and pepper – Simple seasonings in addition to the seasonings in the Stove Top Stuffing to help round out the recipe.
- ketchup – Some of this will be mixed in to the meatloaf itself and some will be mixed with brown sugar for the topping.
- Worcestershire sauce – Lea and Perrines is the brand I recommend for all recipes that require Worcestershire sauce. It has a much better flavor than other brands.

How to Make Stove Top Stuffing Meatloaf
Preheat the oven to 350°F, and spray a 9×5 loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray.

In a large mixing bowl, beat together the eggs and water using a fork or electric hand mixer. Beat for about 1 minute.
Add in the stuffing mix, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well using a large serving spoon.

Add in ground beef, ½ cup ketchup and ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce. Mix well until the ground beef is evenly distributed throughout the mixture and well combined.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the remaining ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Mix with a fork until fully combined.
Pour glaze over meatloaf, spreading evenly with the back of a spoon.
When the mixture is fully combined, pour into the bottom of the loaf pan, pressing the mixture firm into the edges and empty spaces and flat on the top. Set aside.

Place meatloaf inside the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes.
When done, carefully remove from heat and allow to cool inside the loafpan for about 5 minutes before serving.

Storage Instructions
Allow the meatloaf to fully cool, and then cover the loaf pan with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and store in the refrigerator. You can also remove the meatloaf from the loaf pan and store it in an airtight container. This meatloaf recipe will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days.
To Freeze: You can also freeze this meatloaf in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating in the oven, microwave or air fryer.

Top Tips
- Any Stove Top Flavor: Use your preference of stuffing flavor. Turkey, chicken, herbs and cornbread all work great!
- Flatten Meatloaf Before Baking: Use the back of a wooden spoon or rubber spatula to flatten the meatloaf before cooking.
- Sweeter Meatloaf: For a little sweeter of a glaze, add 1 teaspoon of brown sugar to the ketchup and worcestershire sauce.
- Do not overuse the Worcestershire sauce, it will cut the flavor of the stuffing too much.
