How to Make Compound Butter
All of the butter varieties are made the same way! See below the steps on how to make each butter, and even store them for later if desired.
STEP 1. Mix. In a small bowl, mix all ingredients until smooth and creamy. I used a small spoon to quickly incorporate the ingredients into the butter but a hand or stand mixer is a great choice as well, especially if you are doubling or tripling the recipes.
STEP 2. Let the butter rest. Once your butter flavors are mixed and smooth, you’ll want to let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to combine and saturate the butter.
STEP 3. Chill. You can enjoy your flavored butter right away, served fresh and soft, or you can chill them in your refrigerator to enjoy a firmer butter at a later time. See how to below:
How to Store Flavored Butter:
To save the butter for later: Press the individual butters into an airtight container or roll them in plastic wrap or parchment paper. Just spoon the butter onto the wrap and roll it up with twisted ends for freshness. Place them in your refrigerator for at least 15 minutes for firm texture.
Can I use dried herbs instead of fresh? Fresh is best, but you can absolutely use dried and jarred ingredients. I will say though, that the dried herbs do not have the smooth-flowing texture that fresh ingredients give you. They cause a bit of a grainy texture.
