Cookies and cream rice krispy treats are a perfect combination of your favorite dessert, combined with your favorite Oreo cookies!
Quick Overview: In less than 15 minutes you can have a easy recipe for a classic no-bake dessert (with a spin) ready to enjoy after dinner or as an afternoon snack on the weekends!
Cookies and Cream Rice Krispies
You can use any kind of chocolate sandwich cookies for this recipe but we call them oreo rice krispie treats in our house because it’s our favorite brand! (We’ve tried others but they just don’t measure up to the original!)
Classic Rice Krispies with a Twist
Using Oreos in dessert recipes like this no-bake oreo pudding dessert, or this Oreo cheesecake, is one of our favorite ways to kick up a regular old-fashioned dessert by adding sandwich cookies! So when it comes to classic rice krispie treats, we knew Oreos mixed in would be a hit too!
Marshmallow Desserts
Adding melted marshmallows to desserts creates an ooey gooey texture that’s hard to create any other way! For instance, in these marshmallow cookies, it gives a that gooey center that regular cookies don’t have! Or making the old-fashioned popcorn balls using marshmallows, it allows them to hold their shape without sacrificing flavor!

Step 5:
Chill for 3-5 minutes. Cut crispy treats into squares. Enjoy!
A lot of times, honey and peanut butter can be a substitute for marshmallows. Or using almond butter and maple syrup may be a great substitution if you don’t have marshmallows on hand.
If you spray Pam (non stick cooking spray) on your hands before patting down, this can help keep the treats and marshmallows from sticking to your hands. Another option is to place your hand inside of a small, greased (with butter or spray) plastic bag, to use as a “glove” to press down on the treats to flatten them out.
If you’re looking for other items to add to rice krispy treats, you can add cookies, white chocolate chips, sprinkles, drizzle with syrups, different types of cereal such as cinnamon grahams, fruit circles, fruity rice krispies and more!
Expert Tips:
- The larger the pot the better for easy mixing.
- Do not allow butter to cook, heat until just melted.
- Use fresh marshmallows
- It is not necessary to grease the pan. The butter in recipe is enough to prevent sticking.
- If you prefer, you can place a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap over the treats to press them into pan. This will prevent your hands from getting messy.
- Feel free to add in a teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix in with the melted marshmallows. Not necessary but adds great flavor!
How to Store Rice Krispy Treats
Store room temperature crispy bars, in airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best flavor. You can also wrap individually in plastic wrap.
Optional 9×13 Baking Dish
If you want to make a larger batch, you can make this same recipe, with the same ingredients and simply switch out the 8×8 dish for a 9×13 dish, that will result in a thinner rice krispy treat, so it stretches them out more.
I do this when taking them to a potluck or somewhere where there will be a lot of kids! (If you’re headed to a large gathering, you may also love making this homemade Lucky Charms treat recipe, as kids love these too!)
These have the potential to become your new favorite treats! I know they have in our house!
