Everyone always enjoys a plate of loaded French fries – but have you ever turned it on its side and made Pizza Fries? Melted cheese, pizza sauce, pepperoni… all piled on crispy French fries, is a flavor combo that is a family-favorite!

We are taking a shortcut here and using frozen fries. Why wouldn’t we when they are delicious as-is and we are taking it up a notch with toppings? I also love throwing frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer!
If you want to show off your knife skills, try eggplant fries, also in the air fryer. I highly recommend a classic sloppy Joe sandwich if you are keeping your fries plain, or you can serve the pizza French fries up with a side salad.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It uses a few ingredients: Most people have these ingredients on hand already!
- Switch it up: Just like topping your own homemade pizza, add your favorites to these fries.
- Works for any meal: Whether you want a fun appetizer with friends (and beer?) or you want a quick kid-friendly meal, this fits the bill.
Ingredients Needed
Here’s what you’ll need to make delicious pepperoni pizza fries!

- Fries – Use your favorite brand here. I love crinkle cut as they hold onto the toppings nicely! Straight cut will also work here but I don’t recommend anything that’s already seasoned as it will compete with the pizza flavors.
- Cheese – Mozzarella is of course the iconic pizza cheese, but feel free to use a cheddar blend or some Colby Jack.
- Pepperoni – I love pepperoni! Use pork or turkey, whatever you prefer. You could also use sausage or diced ham, but make sure your meat is already fully cooked.
- Sauce – We are going to drizzle some over the top of the fries, so you can even find a squeeze bottle at the store to make it easy!

How to Make Loaded Pizza Fries
Just a simple two steps here – bake, then top!

STEP 1. Cook fries. Bake, according to bag instructions. I like to line the baking sheet first!
STEP 2. Layer cheese. Once the fries are crispy, add half the cheese in an even layer.
Tip: Line your baking sheet for easy cleanup! No stuck cheese here! I also like to use a sheet that just fits the fries closely together. This allows the toppings to stay right where they belong.
STEP 3. Sauce it up. Add sauce in lines over the cheese. Don’t add too much or your fries will turn soggy!
STEP 4. Top and bake. Place pepperoni and remaining cheese over top, then bake to melt the cheese. Serve!

Recipe Pro Tips
- Don’t use too much sauce. Layering cheese before sauce creates a barrier – adding too much sauce here can make your fries soggy! Use more sauce for dipping if desired.
- Crisp first! Make sure your fries are cooked to the perfect crispness before adding toppings. They will not get any crispier once coated in cheese so give one a bite test before topping to make sure they are ready.

Recipe FAQs
Unfortunately, these fries do not do as well as leftovers. We recommend serving them immediately from the oven. If they should cool off a bit too long outside the oven, feel free to turn the oven back on to 350 degrees F and reheat them in there for a few minutes.
Any of your favorite veggies or meat that you normally order on pizza will go really well here. However, you must make sure they are fully cooked before using. Once topped, the fries aren’t in the oven long enough to cook raw meat. Also with veggies, cooking them first will remove the excess water content which would otherwise make your fries soggy!
This would be perfect set on the table as-is for a group of friends to share while chatting. You can also use smaller pans for everyone to make their own! Bake the fries on a regular large baking sheet first, then divide them up in smaller cast iron skillets or baking dishes for everyone to top to their liking before melting the cheese.
What to Serve with Loaded Pizza Fries
I love these on their own as an appetizer, or you can bulk up your meal by serving a green salad while they bake. Make a fun “alternative pizza night” by serving alongside pizza sliders! Then have an Oreo pizza ready for dessert.

Recipe

Pizza Fries
Ingredients
- 32 ounces French Fries 1 regular package
- Pinch of salt to taste
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup pizza sauce plus additional to serve on the side
- ¼ cup pepperoni
- Other favorite pizza toppings such sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc. (optional)
Additional toppings and garnishes (optional):
- Parmesan
- Red pepper flakes
- Chopped parsley
- Ranch dressing for dipping
Instructions
- Prepare the fries according to the instructions on the package.
- Preheat the oven to 425F.
- Transfer the cooked fries to a 9×13 pan lined with parchment paper. If using a sheet pan, you can pile them up in the same pan.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese evenly over the fries.
- Drizzle the pizza sauce over the cheese layer.
- Add the remaining cheese on top of the fries.
- Distribute the pepperoni and any other desired pizza toppings over the fries.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes until the cheese is melted. For extra bubbly and melty cheese, you can broil on low for a minute or two, but be sure to monitor closely to prevent overcooking.
- Once done, remove the fries from the oven and garnish with your favorite toppings. Serve immediately, and enjoy with extra pizza sauce on the side.
Notes
- Be sure to note that putting down half the cheese helps to create the perfect barrier between the fries and the sauce. Be careful not to overdo the sauce when adding it to the fries. Too much sauce can lead the fries to become soggy. It is recommended to serve extra sauce on the side.
-
You can opt for an 11×17 baking sheet when preparing the fries. While we used a smaller 9×13 sheet to stack them closely, you can do the same on the larger one.
