How to cook frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer, so they’re crispy and hot and ready for an easy side dish or easy appetizer, in minutes!

Quick Overview: 400° F for 10 minutes for cooked-through, crispy fries.
    Keep reading for more tips!

NOTE: It’s important to note that brands of frozen sweet potato fries and air fryers can vary.
However this is a guide that should give you the same result that we had (which was a deliciously crispy sweet potato fry, in MINUTES) or it may take one or two minutes less/more, depending on the thickness of your fries and the cook power of your air fryer.

It’s always best to watch the first time making something new, carefully, so you can get to know your air fryer best.

    What I Used:

I used Alexia brand, frozen sweet potato fries and my Chefman air fryer (the egg-shaped, basket type of air fryer).

After making air fryer breakfast potatoes, air fryer tater tots and frozen hash browns in my air fryer, I had a pretty good idea at what these sweet potato fries were going to take.

    Ingredients

Although you can add other ingredients to sweet potato fries, we kept things simple and only used the frozen sweet potato fries themselves.

However, you can add salt, pepper, parmesan cheese, and even a little olive oil if you like but it’s not required – and could possibly even become too soggy if used.

    Instructions

Begin by placing as many frozen sweet potato fries in your air fryer basket, or tray, that you’ll be serving

NOTE: Most air fryers recommend NOT using non-stick spray in the air fryer baskets or trays due to the fact that it can eat away at the non-stick lining that it may have.

However, if your air fryer does not have a non-stick coating, it may be best to use non-stick spray or LIGHTLY coat the fries with olive oil so they do not stick while cooking.

It’s best not to let fries overlap so they cook evenly. However, when cooking the whole 20 oz. bag of Alexia sweet potato fries, they all cooked just fine, even overlapping as shown above.

How Long to Cook Frozen Sweet Potato Fries in Air Fryer:

Cook in 400 degree air fryer for 10 minutes.

Tip: I didn’t preheat my air fryer to save even more time, and this worked just fine. You can preheat yours if you prefer but the cook time may reduce by a couple of minutes. Watch carefully.

HINT: If fries are overlapping, you can shake the basket or gently use a spatula to toss the fries at the halfway point, to ensure that the fries are cooked evenly.

    Serve warm!

You may want to leave the fries in the air fryer, with the power “off” to stay warm if dinner isn’t ready yet! Just be careful not to let them burn if your air fryer is too hot. Sometimes I’ll even pull the basket out a little and leave a small crack so they stay warm but don’t burn.

Or, if making another air fryer recipe for main course or a lunch idea, you can place these in a separate container and keep in the oven on “warm” until everything else is ready.

Sweet Potato Fries Dipping Sauce Ideas

To me, there is nothing better than serving a delicious sauce with fries. But since sweet potato fries are a bit different than regular french fries or even seasoned potato wedges recipe, I wanted to share some favorite sauce recommendations for dipping:

    • marshmallow creme (for real, so good!)
    • Sriracha Dipping Sauce
    • Maple Mustard Dipping Sauce
    • Cilantro Dip
    • Ketchup
    • Honey Mustard
    • BBQ Sauce
    • Ranch
    • Blue Cheese
    • Sweet Yogurt (Such as a vanilla/cinnamon/etc.)
    • Melted Butter

    Garnishes

If you’re serving sweet potato fries as an appetizer for a party, adding a small garnish can really make sweet potato fries look amazing! Garnishes such as:

    • finely chopped parsley
    • grated or shredded parmesan cheese
    • marshmallow creme drizzle
    • cinnamon and sugar

    Storage

If there are leftover sweet potato fries, store in an air-tight container or zip-top plastic bag, in the refrigerator.

    Reheating Leftover Sweet Potato Fries

To reheat, simply use the air fryer at 400°, for about 5 minutes. Just enough to warm through. (Remember, they’re no longer frozen so cooking them for 10 minutes in not necessary and may overcook them.)

    Top Tip

Always keep a bag or two of frozen sweet potato fries in the freezer for last minute guests, forgotten meal planning, or just for a quick, 10-minute midnight snack idea!

What to Serve with Sweet Potato Fries

If you’ll be serving these as a side dish, here are our favorite main dishes that pair with sweet potato fries:

    • Baked Cheeseburgers
    • Air Fryer Fried Shrimp
    • Air Fryer Chicken Wings – Cooked from Frozen
