Why You’ll Love These Garlic Toast Pizzas

    • Garlic Toast Crust – Instead of pizza crust or pizza dough, this recipe uses garlic bread (or Texas Toast) so you can keep these on hand in the freezer for last-minute meals! (If you have extra, consider making the frozen Texas toast in the air fryer!)
    • Favorite Toppings – With them being personal pizzas, you can use the toppings of your choice, or even make a variety of different types of pizzas!
    • Quick and Easy – like so many recipes here, this texas toast garlic bread pizza is ready in minutes!

    Ingredients

Keeping it simple, this recipe uses minimal ingredients but they may soon become your favorite… maybe even better than Pizza Hut!

Ingredients for texas toast pizzas on counter
    • Garlic Texas Toast, or Cheese Texas Toast: The frozen toast is a great option for a simple recipe but you can buy it in the deli or even make your own, especially using this Italian bread recipe! (See “substitutions” below, for more ideas.)
    • Pizza Sauce: Grab your favorite pizza sauce at one of your local grocery stores. Or you can even use tomato sauce, and flavor it with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.)
    • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese: Even though the garlic toast that we use, already has cheese on it, we think you can never have too much cheese!
    • Pepperoni: We used turkey pepperoni but you can use your favorite type of pepperoni or even mini pepperoni!
    • Fresh Parsley, if desired: Perfect for adding color.

Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

    Substitutions and Variations

So many things can be substituted for these mini pizzas made on Texas toast! Here are some of our suggestions:

    • Bread: Have fun using bread that may need to be used up! Sliced bread for toast, English muffins, or even leftover hamburger or hot dog buns. Spread butter on them, sprinkle a little garlic powder or garlic salt, and make as instructed! (Keeping in mind it may not take as long to cook if your bread isn’t frozen.)
    • Sauce: Pizza sauce, marinara sauce or you can make your own! Also feel free to try alfredo sauce for a fun spin!
    • Cheese: We used mozzarella but you can use your favorite shredded cheese! Pepperjack, Mexican blend, shredded cheddar, etc.
    • Seasonings: Garlic powder, basil, Italian seasoning, pepper, salt.

How to Make Texas Toast Pizzas

    1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
    2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    3. Place Texas toast on baking sheet, in single layer.
    4. Spread a little pizza sauce on each piece of bread. (Approximately a couple of Tablespoons of sauce on each piece, or more if you prefer more sauce!)

    Add pizza sauce
    1. Spread the sauce evenly on each piece.
    2. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of pizza sauce. (As much as you’d like but we used about 2 cups – or an 8 ounce bag – of shredded mozzarella for the 8 pieces of garlic bread.)
    3. Place pepperoni on each piece of bread, or your favorite toppings. We used 3 pepperonis for each slice.

    1. Place baking sheet in to the oven and bake for about 5 minutes.
Optional: If you’d like to switch the oven to “broil” at the last minute to help the pizzas turn golden brown, you definitely can.

    Favorite Pizza Toppings

    • Sausage: Ground sausage, Italian sausage
    • Bacon: Chopped cooked bacon is delicious on pizza
    • Ham: Chopped ham (thick chopped ham) adds great saltiness flavor.
    • Chicken: A great way to use leftover chicken!
    • Ground Beef: Cook your ground beef ahead of time, and sprinkle it on for added protein.
    • Vegetables: bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach
    • Fruit: Yes! Pineapple chunks are great on a pizza, preferably with a salty protein like ham.
    • Garnish: Crushed red pepper, grated parmesan cheese

    Storage

If you have leftover pizzas, store them in an airtight container with a lid, cover with plastic wrap or place in a plastic, ziptop bag.

To reheat: You can place them back in the oven on a cookie sheet, warm in the microwave, or our favorite… reheat them in the air fryer to help them taste like they were just made!

    Top Tip

Only make as many as you need, and keep the ingredients on hand for last-minute meals. The ingredients are all something that can either be frozen or stored in the pantry for quite a while.

    Texas Toast Pizza Recipe FAQs

    What makes bread Texas toast?

Usually, Texas toast is just a thick variation of Italian bread.

Can you cook Texas toast on the stovetop?

You can… it just may not get the “oven-baked” texture but it’s worth a try! It’s recommended to place the Texas toast on the non-stick skillet, and cover it with a lid and cook over medium heat for a couple of minutes. (Since you cannot flip, the lid will help cook evenly.)

How long do you cook frozen Texas Toast Pizzas?

Certain brands can vary but typically you cook it for 4-5 minutes in the oven at 425°.
