Chili Cheese Corn Dogs are one of those comfort meals that hit the spot when you want to keep things easy. Three ingredients and just a few minutes are all you need.

Comfort food is delicious all year long and not just in the fall and winter months, and when it’s an easy comfort food recipe, well that makes things even better.
Whether you’re buying everything pre-made like frozen corn dogs and canned chili for this recipe, or if you’re looking for more of a recipe, you can adjust it a bit and make your own mini corn dogs and use this easy chili recipe. Either way, this recipe is considered easy and great for beginners.
Why You’ll Love Chili Cheese Stuffed Corn Dogs
- Family-friendly: Adults and kids love this recipe, so even with some picky eaters it’s a winner at home.
- Quick meal: Ready in about 30 minutes, this makes a great busy night dinner.
- Pantry meal: Even though the frozen corn dogs are kept in the freezer, I still consider this a “pantry meal” because you can keep the ingredients on hand for those last-minute needs.
Key Ingredients

See the full list of ingredients and amounts in the recipe card below.
- Frozen corn dogs – Regular size is best but you can also do mini-corn dogs if that’s what you have on hand.
- Canned chili – Use your favorite chili, whether that’s a homemade recipe, canned chili that’s spicy, without beans, without meat, etc.
- Shredded cheddar cheese – Using pre-shredded cheese is quick and easy. However, if you have time, shredding your own block cheese melts better and tastes even better.
- Optional toppings: onion, bacon, jalapeno, are just a few ideas that you can top your chili cheese corn dogs with.
How to Make Chili Cheese Corn Dogs

- Bake corn dogs according to package directions.
- Carefully remove the wooden stick from the cooked corn dogs.

- Slice each corn dog vertically down the center, about halfway through, being careful not to cut through the bottom.
- Into the cut, add chili, and cheese.

- Place back in the oven and cook for another 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Serve warm!
Recipe Tips
- When splitting the corn dogs open, make sure the centers aren’t frozen anymore, even though you’ll be warming them again with the chili and cheese.
- If you find that your corn dogs are overcooked before adding the chili and cheese, you can cover them with aluminum foil to prevent them from burning more.
Storing Tips
Storing leftovers: Although the chili cheese corn dogs can be stored for later, this could result in a soggy corn dog. It’s best to assemble the chili cheese corn dogs right before eating. So storing the ingredients separately is recommended.
Recipe FAQs
You can but it can get messy, since air is blowing around, and it could cause the shredded cheese to blow around, and the chili and cheese to get all over the air fryer basket. Making chili cheese corn dogs in the oven is my recommendation and for a super fast cook time, the microwave is the best option, although it will sacrifice texture.
Chili and cheese are delicious on corn dogs, oven-baked hot dogs, beef and cheese burritos, cheeseburger recipes, and a simple nacho recipe.
French fries, tater tots, and chips are classic side dishes for corn dogs. However, pasta salad recipes and fun savory dips like this taco layer dip pair wonderfully with them.
