    BBQ White Queso Nachos

    BBQ White Queso Nachos

    September 6, 2016

BBQ White Queso Nachos on wooden cutting board.

BBQ White Queso Nachos: A weeknight meal that your family will love and it’s a great way to use leftover meats that you have on hand! If you have leftover taco meat, these Doritos Nachos with Ground Beef are a great choice too.

    BBQ White Queso Nachos

Every once in a while, I get the urge to clean out my freezer, and experiment in the kitchen with only what I have on hand. (Does anyone else do that, or am I a little crazy?)

The culprit is, that I’ll make a trip the grocery store, see an ingredient and think

Ohhh! I’ll grab X, and make X this week.

Only to get home and realize that I forgot the other ingredients that I would need to make X, so I’ll just stick, what I bought in the freezer, and save it for later.

A few trips like that to the grocery store, and I have so many odds and ends taking up precious space in the freezer. So about once a month, I get my chef hat on, and get to work.

    BBQ Nachos with Leftover Meats

Because I DO love cooking an oven baked roast, I did just that… and a few hours later, took the roast out, pulled it off of the bone, and coated it in BBQ sauce.

    BBQ White Queso Nachos

So what does that look like for you, for a busy weeknight? Put your roast in the slow cooker before you leave for work, and when you get home, pull the meat off of the bone, and tear/cut in to little pieces. Toss with BBQ sauce, and your have the delicious protein to top your nachos with!

    Where’s the beef?

Now my favorite part of this recipe is that you can switch out any type of meat that you have on hand, or prefer.

For instance, making a large batch of chicken in the crock pot, is a great way to get a quick meal on the table!

I absolutely LOVE the idea of using these burnt ends on nachos! Could you imagine the deliciousness that comes with that!?

Say you have a rotisserie chicken that you need to use. Rip the meat off of that baby and coat it with BBQ sauce, throw it over some chips and cheese, and chow down. But let me tell you a little more about what I put on mine, to make it incredibly delish…

My family LOVED the bbq white queso nachos, and considering how easy they were, and I was able to use only what I had on hand… it’s now a favorite of mine for weeknights too!

Want additional toppings for your nachos?

If you’d love more ideas for toppings for your nachos, then you MUST check out the nacho bar that I styled for a birthday party, and see the list of toppings that you can use on your BBQ nachos! Get the topping ideas from this nacho bar!

Dip Bar Ideas for a Party (Easy Setup + What to Serve)

    September 1, 2016

A Dip Bar! Such a fun way to style snacks for a party.

Dip bar ideas are one of the easiest ways to serve snacks at a party without a lot of prep. Whether you're hosting a game day, holiday, or casual get-together, a dip bar lets guests mix and match their favorites and keeps things simple.

An Easy Party Food Idea Guests Love

A dip bar is perfect when you want something low-effort but still fun. With a few store-bought dips and simple snacks, you can create a spread that feels inviting without spending hours in the kitchen.

As a hostess, I’m always looking for simple ways to serve food to our guests, and setting up a decorated-designated “spot,” for the event, is something that guests LOVE! It’s inviting, and if your guests are like ours… they tend to crowd around the food anyway, so you might as well spruce it up a bit, right?

Besides, who doesn’t love a good food bar at a party!?

A Dip Bar! Such a fun way to style snacks for a party.

    • Spinach dip
    • Queso (Smoked queso or Rotel Dip)
    • Salsa (This Rotel Salsa recipe is so easy!)
    • Blue cheese dip or this Cold Blue Cheese Buffalo Dip

    Dippers

    • Chips
    • Crackers
    • Pretzels
    • Bread cubes
    • Fresh vegetables

How to Set Up a Dip Bar

    • Keep it simple and easy to grab
    • Group dips together
    • Place dippers nearby
    • Use small bowls for easy access

It’s Labor Day! The perfect excuse to decorate with the red, white & blue! However, a dip bar can be created and served any time of the year! Indoors or out. Designate a table (or bookshelf like I did here) and fill it full of dips, snacks, and any coordinating decor to match your theme or event purpose.

    Pre-Made Dips:

To keep things SUPER simple with this dip bar, I knew buying pre-made dips was the answer – except for this blue cheese dip. (You just can’t find anything in the store as good as this one!)

Fantabulous Hostess Tip: Don’t fret over trying to decorate a dip bar. Take a close look at the one I have styled here. It’s simply using things around the house, (including my obsession with fabric and fun napkins) to style a table that I normally use in my foyer. Plan a color scheme, and start looking around the house for items that would match the theme! Before you know it, you’ll have more items to use, than you thought!

How to Make a Pizza Dog

    Hot Dog Week: Pizza Dog

Welcome to day 3 of “Hot Dog,” week! Yesterday we covered the “BLT Dog,” and the first day we introduced (possibly my favorite) the “Buffalo Chicken Hot Dog.”

But adding my OTHER favorite food, pizza, in with this combo for today’s hot dog recipe… makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. (I’ve told you how “food = love” in my mind, right?)

A warm mound of marinara, mozzarella cheese, and crumbled bacon (just for fun), is all that is needed to top it off, making it a “pizza dog.” Once assembled, throw it back on the grill for a little sec, to give it an overall “toasted,” texture, and you’ve just taken it to a whole new level.

You could even top it with this hot dog sauce if you want to live on the wild side!

“HOT DOG!” (Insert excited voice here)

Yeah yeah, I know hot dogs have been around a while, but they’re by far, one of my favorite quick meals to throw together for a weeknight, or simply warming up for kiddos during a bbq at our house. Even as much as I love my husband’s beef tenderloin, any time we cook that for a group, you can usually find me right with the kids, eating a hot dog right along with them.

Now, I love a good plain hot dog. But when you look at it like a blank canvas, the options are ENDLESS. I still remember having wiener winks, wrapped in a slice of bread as a kid, and perhaps that’s where my love for hot dogs began.

Hot Dog Week: Buffalo Chicken Dog

If your local grocery store carries pre-shredded rotisserie chicken, then you may have just hit the jackpot with this recipe like I did. Find some already coated in hot sauce… then you’re even better off!

White Background to Help Chocolate Pop

With different shades of chocolate, I knew that WHITE had to be the overall tablescape of the chocolate bar, to allow the candies to “pop,” and really accentuate the “WOW” factor. Then I knew that adding hints of classy florals, would be the perfect touch of color that the bright white tablescape needed!

    Party Favors:

I adore how you can easily order a small box of chocolates for party favors, and you’re even able to pick the color of ribbon that you prefer, so it can match right along with your party’s color scheme. You can even order a personalized version with your own messaging if your heart desires!

Stack the boxes at an angle on top of one another, or even use them as a place setting for each guest. No matter how you style them, they’ll look adorable with their classy gold box and choice of ribbon color.

    Signature Milk Chocolate Biscuits

When I first found the milk chocolate biscuits, my mind immediately went to a little girl's “pony” themed party. The designs on the biscuits are quite possibly the prettiest chocolate design I’ve seen yet. A whimsical pink, and chocolate brown party wouldn’t be complete without these biscuits.

    DIY Chocolate Covered Spoons

During my coffee bar party, I wanted to include chocolate-covered spoons. But when I ran out of time, I had to save the idea for an upcoming party. We melted a Milk Chocolate Bar, and gently dipped each wooden spoon, carefully adding gold sprinkles to the tip. They were a match made in heaven, with the white chocolate pudding parfaits.

    August 2, 2016

Bagel Bar Cart! So cute for an outdoor, back yard, brunch or breakfast.

Bagel bar ideas are one of the easiest ways to serve breakfast or brunch for a group. Whether you're hosting houseguests, a holiday morning, or a casual get-together, a bagel bar lets everyone customize their plate with minimal effort.

A Simple Brunch Idea That Feels Thoughtful

With a variety of bagels, spreads, and toppings, a bagel bar is both easy to prepare and fun for guests. It's a low-stress way to serve a crowd while still offering plenty of options.

Bagel Bar Cart! So cute for an outdoor, back yard, brunch or breakfast.

Recently for an extremely busy weekend here, I thought creating a bagel bar cart would be scrumptious, super easy, and pretty darn cute for a breakfast idea!

When it comes to food bars, I like setting up a variety of flavors and different options guests can choose from.

With something like bagels, the variety can consist of savory and sweet options like:

    • Homemade plain bagels
    • Blueberry
    • Cinnamon
    • Garlic and Herb
    • Asiago Cheese
    • Chocolate Chip
    • Garden Veggie
    • Maple and Brown Sugar

    …and the list goes on!

What Do You Need for a Bagel Bar?

    • Different varieties of bagels, cream cheeses, flavored butters, jams/jellies, and toppings to customize the bagel offerings.
    • Toaster oven or small toaster in case guests would like to toast
    • Knife for slicing bagels and knives for condiments
    • Veggies/Fruit to top bagels
    • Small tongs, or serving utensils for fruit/veggies
    • Small plates
    • Napkins
    • Coffee Cups/Beverage Cups
    • Coffee add-ins, toppings
    • Drink Stirrers

What to Put on a Bagel Bar

    Bagels

    • Plain
    • Everything
    • Cinnamon raisin
    • Asiago
    • Blueberry

    Spreads

    • Cream cheese (plain & flavored)
    • Butter
    • Honey
    • Jam

    Toppings

    • Sliced fruit
    • Tomatoes
    • Avocado
    • Smoked salmon
    • Nuts

How to Set Up a Bagel Bar

    • Arrange bagels first
    • Place spreads and toppings nearby
    • Include knives and small serving utensils
    • Add a toaster if possible

    Coffee Bar

If you have more time, offering coffee alongside your bagel bar is a great choice, since the two go hand in hand.

…you can load the top with the cutesy items, and then fill the bottom with a toaster, Keurig, and extra plates and napkins.

You can load the top with an assortment of flavored and plain bagels. Cinnamon raisin, asiago, bacon/egg/cheese, french toast, and blueberry were the flavor selections this go-round!

Providing a choice of different cream cheeses and flavored butter was also super fun to experiment with. Garden vegetable on an asiago bagel was divine, and honey/pecan on the french toast bagel was quite tasty.

    Bagel Bar Accessories

Throw in a few cute & fun accessories and you have yourself an adorable little bagel bar cart.

    • Spreaders for cream cheese and butter // Buy cream cheese and butter spreaders!
    • Creamer and Sugar Set (these may be the cutest I’ve ever seen!) //  Buy creamer and sugar set!

I can’t wait to hear how yours turns out! Sadly, I love food so much that I’d even love to hear what flavor of bagels and cream cheese/butters you choose!

But before designing a whole ice cream party around these super cute cookies, we figured “practicing,” first would be the best option.

Guess what… the cookies turned out ADORABLE, and I had to create their own blog post. They’re too cute to get lost in an ice cream party feature! Another good thing???? They were so much easier than decorating with icing, because we used fondant, instead of royal icing. (Although I do love a good cookie decorating session.)  So if you don’t want to tackle cookie decorating with royal icing just yet… like we did in our heart sugar cookies, give this fondant tutorial a try!

OMG how cute are these for an ice cream party!! It's just fondant, and you don't have to know how to decorate! So cool. Ice Cream Cone Sugar Cookies!

    Ice Cream Cone Sugar Cookies

Begin by making my favorite sugar cookies, and time it to where you can lay the fondant on top of the warm cookies, when they come out of the oven. (So the fondant will gently semi-melt on to the cookie surface.)  Before baking the sugar cookies, draw the lines of the cone on to the cookie with a small knife or baking tool.

Use fondant instead of decorating cookies with icing. So much easier!!

We started with buying white fondant at the store, and then using gel food coloring to color it the pastel colors that we wanted. (You may be able to find fondant already the color that you’re wanting. If not, you can make your own like we did!)

It was actually recommended to use marshmallow fondant (which would provide a MUCH better taste) but if you’re in a bind, this fondant worked just fine and didn’t taste horrible! (Since I ate almost all of them myself, I felt confident in recommending this fondant in a pinch.)

Using fondant instead of icing to decorate cookies
Use fondant and color with food coloring, instead of decorating cookies with icing

Using gel food coloring, pouring a few drops in to the fondant, we worked the color in to the fondant, until it was even.

Color fondant with food coloring instead of icing! SO easy
Color fondant for cookie decorating instead of using icing

Brown sure doesn’t look pretty by itself, but when you’re talking about making colors for ice cream… the brown looks like a chocolate ice cream that is too stinking adorable.

Use fondant instead of icing to decorate ice cream cone cookies! So easy!

Roll out your fondant, sprinkling a bit of powdered sugar on the rolling pin/fondant, so it doesn’t stick. As for thickness of the fondant, roll it pretty thin, to where it’s still workable (and won’t fall apart when applying) but thin enough the taste of the cookies aren’t overwhelmed with a fondant taste.

Using a cookie cutter to cut fondant to decorate ice cream cone cookies

Using the top portion of the ice cream cone cookie cutter, cut out the “ice cream,” scoop shape.

Using a cookie cutter to cut fondant to decorate ice cream cone cookies
Using a cookie cutter to cut fondant to decorate ice cream cone cookies

Using a flower shaped cookie cutter, cut the bottom of the ice cream cutout, giving the fondant a “scalloped,” bottom. If your “ice cream scoop,” is bigger than your cutter, just make sure not to push the top of the cookie cutter down. Only use the bottom half to create the scallops.

Use fondant to decorate cookies instead of icing! So much easier and SO cute!
Use fondant to decorate sugar cookies instead of icing! So much easier!

Place the fondant on to the warm cookie, to let it gently adhere and “semi-melt.”

Williams Sonoma Deco Pearls! So cute for cookie and cake decorating.

Decorate the cookies using fun decorative sugars, candies, and sprinkles. My favorite “Cherry on Top,” decoration was using the red deco pearls from Williams-Sonoma.

A little "drip" of ice cream out of fondant! How cute!

To create a “drip,” of the ice cream… simply roll out a bit of fondant in to a tear drop shape, and place on the “cone,” part of the cookie.

Decorating sugar cookies, with fondant instead of icing! So so cute!

Get to decorating, and having a TON of fun. Try getting the kiddos involved, and you’ll have a BLAST. (and a mess.)

    Office Makeover Reveal

    July 19, 2016

Chic Office - Coral and Mint, for the Girl Boss
Chic Office - Coral and Mint, for the Girl Boss! IKEA finds, and full of craft room & home office ideas

It’s almost as if there’s a feeling of “Now what?” as I reveal my home office makeover. Why? Because I’ve been teasing promising you for so long, that I’d have it done soon, and it seemed as if I kept finding ONE more thing that would just look PERFECT for the office, so I needed to wait one more week before the photo shoot.

I’m happy to say, I finally found that “ahhhh,” moment, and decided it was time to reveal. (You know, the day after my new white Keurig came in the mail. I had to wait for that new beauty.)

I’ve always been fond of the mint and coral color scheme, that I had in my first office reveal, in our initial home tour, when we moved in. So I left that alone, but maaaaaybe added (and improved) a few items. So now I’m super excited to show you my happy place, that people practically have to pull me out of.

    Home Office Makeover Reveal

First, a quick spin through the whole office, and then we will get zoomed in on some of the specs…

That’s a brief little 360 degree tour. Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty, and some details.

The Desk: Where the Magic Happens

Ok, I shouldn’t say “magic,” but it is where I spend a lot of my “let’s get down to business,” chats. Whether that’s on Skype, or Facebook “live.” It’s also where I do a lot of concentrated work. Such as, finalizing details over a sponsored post, writing an ebook, creating an online course, or anything that needs some serious attention. Regular ole blog posts are typically created on-the-go, or in my living room on the couch, during nap time.

I’m not quite sure why I call this the “hand on,” area… but it is the area where I do most of my crafting, photo-taking, and coffee making. So “hands on,” just seems appropriate.

So I can hear some of you now… “Seriously? You have a coffee maker in your office?” You bet. Want to know why? Because if I run out of coffee, and need to run upstairs for a refill, there’s a chance I’ll get so distracted (either by the kids or dirty dishes), and waste up to 30 minutes of my day, for one trip for a quick cup of coffee. So having it right there by me, guarantees I’ll stick to the nitty gritty of gettin’ things done.

Greenhouse Gardening Ideas & DIY Tips

Raised garden beds out of pallets

Greenhouse Gardening Ideas: A look at a real-life greenhouse, using old recycled items to organize and operate a DIY greenhouse operation!

Raised garden beds out of pallets - Greenhouse gardening ideas using some recycled items and other little tricks

What’s that saying? “If I’m half the woman she is, I’ll be lucky.” Or something like that.

As an inspiring “green-thumb,” I tend to get the jealous “bug,” when I visit my mom’s back yard, on the farm. Her greenhouse has caught the eyes of many “passer-by’s,” and is the topic of many inspiring greenhouse dreamers.

Right now, with the temps are hanging around the 80 degrees in Missouri, working INSIDE the greenhouse is out of the question.

She’s been doing most of her planting outside, but she starts her seeds for all the veggies and plants lettuce inside during the winter. The weather was stinking gorgeous the other day when I was visiting, so I decided to snap a couple of shots, in case you’ve been on the hunt for greenhouse ideas. She is the ultimate creative thinker, and I’m sure you’ll snag a few ideas…

    Greenhouse Gardening Ideas

Greenhouse plan ideas - if building, this is the plan I want to use! So cool - Greenhouse gardening ideas using some recycled items and other little tricks

Green house plan ideas, this is so cool. I want this one day - Greenhouse gardening ideas using some recycled items and other little tricks

She used so many recycled pots/pans/containers, etc., to plant everything in. Keep your eye open for little DIY tricks that she created during the greenhouse building and set-up process.

Inside the greenhouse, love this setup - Greenhouse gardening ideas using some recycled items and other little tricks

    Pegboards:

She lined the inside walls with pegboard to hang a lot of her tools on, including old shower organizers, old shelves, and anything she had already laying around the house. This woman is incredible at finding multiple uses out of ordinary things.

Did you SEE how she uses old plastic knives to label her veggies in the first photo? Yeah. Like that.

Catch rain water in buckets, off the roof of the green house to recycle the water. How awesome!

    Tubs for Rain Water:

Although my kiddos (her grandkiddos) think that these tubs are for playing in, she uses them to catch rain water off of her roof of the greenhouse. She’ll then use the rain water to water plants, or anything else she may need water for while hanging around out there.

You can barely see the sink that her and my dad were working on at the the time I took these photos. I tell you… these two and their creations out of what’s on hand. Cinderblocks, and plywood turned outdoor greenhouse vanity.

Raised garden beds out of pallets. Love this ideas. Greenhouse gardening ideas using some recycled items and other little tricks

    DIY Walkway:

To keep out of the mud, she put down old plank boards to create a walkway. Even if you don’t think you’re building in a muddy area, think about all of the water that will be around when you’re watering your plants, or if you get a rainy season. You may want to think about a walkway of some sort too!

    Using Old Pallets:

Using old pallets to build raised beds, has been extremely helpful when it comes to “farm critters,” strolling by to steal a bite. Not to mention that it reduces having to spend a lot of time bent over in the garden. (Can you tell I’m getting older, since that’s one of my “bonus,” thoughts of why having a tall, raised garden, is a good idea?)

Bloom Theme Party Ideas for a Girls Night or Shower

    June 22, 2016

    Favorite Things Party Ideas

Favorite Things Party: “In Bloom” | The ULTIMATE girls night party you have to host this year.

It’s come and gone, and the Favorite Things Party for 2016 is in the books. With a month of preparation, color coordinating, drink experimenting, and other pretty little details… the party turned out exactly like I had hoped, with the bloom-themed setup.

Favorite Things Party - Summer Outdoor

    The Invitation:

It all started with the “wow,” factor that I wanted to create this year. The invitation. If you missed the post highlighting how and what I hand-delivered to my guests this year, you can see all the boxed invitation details.

Favorite Things Party Invitation Ideas - Spring/Summer party Hand Delivered Boxed Invitation

The party was hosted in our backyard, and the way our home is laid out, I wanted the guests to know the best way to get to the back yard, without having to walk through the house. I thought if the chalkboard wouldn’t catch their attention, this humungo coral balloon would!

    Greenery: Hobby Lobby

The weather was absolutely perfect, and the sun started setting not long after the party began, so it created the most beautiful lighting!

The invite mentioned “Sweets & Sips,” and boy did we have an abundant supply of both. I believe the words “Sugar Coma,” were used a few times, at the end of the night.

Early Party Planning Tip: If you find yourself “stuck,” in getting started with the party planning process, simply look for that one small detail that captures the way you want your party to look. (Like the flowers were for me.)

Then, use those flowers to match color schemes, send to your vendors, etc. It will make the planning process a lot easier and will reduce the amount of “mismatched,” craziness that can happen when the party details really get to flowing.

Flowers and Garland: I found all of my flowers & greenery garland: Hobby Lobby.

(If you’re planning a party like this, far enough in advance, keep your eye out for the weekly sales on flowers, and stock up when the time is right!)

Paper Flower Backdrop: I honestly couldn’t imagine this backdrop WITHOUT the paper flowers. They were the perfect touch, and really gave the back the “pop,” it needed. I ordered my paper flowers from Declare the Hope Project, a mother & daughter team, where 100% of the proceeds go to help children in Haiti.

White Backdrop: I found a shower curtain online at Houzz that captured EXACTLY what I was looking for. I attached this to photo backdrop poles, and my backdrop was set!

Glitter Donuts: Two days before the party, I was browsing Pinterest and saw the cutest glitter donuts. I thought, “I can do that.” So we did. “We,” because I had a good friend help me with these the day of the party. I bought white-icing covered donuts, and then applied edible glitter to the top of the donuts after brushing the tops with a bit of water, to make the glitter “stick.”

Mini cannoli's for party dessert table: sweets cocktail party for "Favorite Things Party"

Cannoli’s: I don’t know what it is, but for some reason when I host a “sweets,” bar, I always include cannoli’s. I believe it’s because they’re usually so color-neutral, that they’ll work on any style of table that I design.

I’m not even going to admit the hours that were put in to “taste-testing,” the beverages for this party. More than it should have been, (I’m sooo not a bartender) but in the end… I couldn’t have been happier with the way they turned out. I wanted color-coordinated drinks, along with a good “mix,” of different tastes.

Cocktail Tables: The wine barrels came in super handy for cocktail tables. The gals were able to gather around, and place their drinks down, before they headed over to the photo booth.

I rented the wine barrels from a local party rental store, but believe I have my hubby in to buying me a couple. They have SO many uses!

    Photo Booth:

Outdoor Photo Booth Idea for Summer Party

It wasn’t your typical photo booth, and that was EXACTLY the way that I wanted it. Natural, flowey, and cheerful. My friend and I, tied the backdrop to the tree limbs with twine and clothespins, and then draped flower garlands over it, to tie in the flower theme.

When the gals arrived, I had them place their gifts on the table, and fill their names out on three different sheets of paper. This way, when it was time for the gift exchange, we would be all ready to exchange!

    Surprise Gifts!!!

This year, I wanted to do a little something extra, and surprised the girls with gift giveaways! Don’t worry… they were small items, but I still wanted to giveaway something, to add a little more “fun,” to the mix…

    Favorite Things Giveaway

I kind of yelled “GIVEAWAY,” in my Oprah voice. (Again… the cocktails.)

I just gave away small items like my favorite notepads, thank you cards, planners, coffee cups, cake stands, etc.)

I wanted this year to be the best yet. But I must say, with the 3rd “Favorite Things,” party in the books, there’s one thing that remains the same, every…stinking…time:

The girls.  When you get your closest group of gal pals together for a night of unwinding, getting pretty, and spending time together…

it just doesn’t get any better than that.

What Food Goes With Wine at a Dinner Party?

    • Red wine → cheese, beef, chocolate
    • White wine → chicken, seafood, fruit
    • Sweet wine → desserts
    Cheese tray ideas for wine

Rustic Wine Dinner Party Setup Ideas

    • kraft paper bags
    • simple table
    • styling outdoor setup

Serving all of those options on a cheese board, you can’t forget the accompaniments! Crackers, toasts, and breadsticks are the perfect bite-size crunch you need. Get creative, and display them in something other than the bags that they come in, or a bowl… and you’ve just made a fabulous display!
(I simply used brown paper bags, folded/rolled down) to give the table the “rustic,” feel that I was going for!)

Bread Crackers Toasts for wine dinner party

Oh the place setting… I was ecstatic to see the looks on our guest’s faces as they walked on to our deck. They each had their own little personal “treat,” awaiting them. Simple little touches like this can make your guests instantly feel welcome in your home!

If you’re new around here, then you may not know that I have quite the “sweet-tooth,” so anytime that I can incorporate a little chocolate,  you can count on it. For an added “touch,” I created a party favor box for each guest, that contained dark chocolate-covered blueberries, that paired amazingly well with the 2014 Crowdsourced Cabernet! Red wine + Dark Chocolate = Happy, Happy Guests.

The overall place setting, and a glass of wine with dinner made this party a special one for the books!

One of our guests JUST had a baby, (only 3 sweet weeks ago), so she wouldn’t let me get a full photo of her, but she did agree to a “cheers,” to celebrate all of the amazing recent blessings, and to the release of the new wine. (Any reason to have a “cheers,” right!?)

    Cheers

Once dinner concluded, we moved to the front lawn and ended the evening with small chatter. My husband loves nothing more than relaxing with friends on the front porch, with a glass of wine and a cigar.

    Cigar and Wine

Me… well I like to visit on the front porch with a glass of wine too. There’s really no other way to end a busy day.

DIY Patio Curtain Tie-Backs for $5.00!

    DIY Patio Curtain Tie-Backs

DIY Patio Curtain Tie Backs: How to make patio curtain ties for your patio, affordably and easily!

    DIY Patio Curtain Tie-Backs

If you’ve been following along on my Facebook page or Instagram, you’ve probably noticed the talk about my new DIY Patio Curtain Tie-Backs that I’ve hinted around about. You know me, and when I find a good thing, I can’t keep it to myself. So this time it was no different, and I have been keeping you updated on the whereabouts of this project. Some of you have asked for me to share a tutorial, so you can do it too! So here we are:

    DIY Patio Curtain Tie Backs

Like with anything else, I headed to Etsy, the minute I needed something. I found EXACTLY the look that I was going for. A natural rope, (with a modern touch). Friends, I almost paid $50 for a pair of curtain tie-backs. I was trying to prepare myself to spend that much, when I realized that I may be able to make them myself.

I started “Pinteresting” and found that someone had already tackled the DIY brainstorming part, for me! (Call that COMPLETE luck.)  Crazy Wonderful had created a tutorial on curtain tie-backs that looked very similar to what I wanted, so I was able to play around with it, and make a trip to Home Depot to score the exact goods that I wanted. You all, I was able to make these for $5.00 a piece! That’s a HUGE savings, compared to what I was preparing to pay!

DIY Tutorial Curtain Patio Curtain Tie-Backs

I called my momma when I had the supplies, and told her what my plan was. Thankfully, she invited us down for dinner and to have a little “craft session,” so she could help me assemble them. I thought it was going to be so much harder than it looked. Turns out, it was super easy… but the helping hand was nice, to get them finished sooner than I would have by myself!

DIY Patio Curtain Tie Back How-to and supplies

Type of String: The tutorial that I found, used twine to create the hooks. However I found this Twisted Mason Line, and thought that it may work better for my white curtains. Plus… I was hoping that this would hold up better outside in the rain, than twine would.

Type of Rope: I almost used manilla rope like she had used in her tutorial as well, but decided to go with a coated rope. I was a little nervous using regular rope, afraid that it could stain my white curtains. Plus, I’m hoping the coated rope and line will hold up better outside in the rain. She used a ¾ rope, but the coated type that I used was a bit different (close) in size, but not much. It still worked! I also had the super nice man from Home Depot, cut the rope in to 2 ft. sections. He then “burned,” the edges for me, to keep them from shredding.

P.S. My friend told me about a product called “Neverwet,” that I should use on my patio furniture and curtains. It keeps it from getting wet, and literally shoves the water right off of it. So I sprayed this on my patio curtains, hoping it would keep them from getting soaked and staining. Not sure if it will work with the “staining,” aspect, but it’s worth a chance!

White Rope to make Hook for patio curtain tie backs, from home depot
White Rope to make Hook for patio curtain tie backs, from home depot

Metal Couplings: I needed 9 curtain tie-backs, so I grabbed 18 ½″ Rigid Threaded Couplings, to use for the ends of the ties. (2 on each one.)

Threaded Coupling to make diy patio curtain tie backs

Start with cutting 3 strands of Twisted Mason Line, about 6 inches long. (The size can depend on how big you want your “hook,” to be.)

braid three strings of twisted mason line, to create the "hook," for the patio curtain tie backs https://fantabulosity.com

Using electrical tape, tape one end of the strings to one side, & one end of the rope.

braid three strings of twisted mason line, to create the "hook," for the patio curtain tie backs https://fantabulosity.com

Braid the three strands together, and tape the other end, (making a loop) to the other side of the rope with electrical tape.

braid three strings of twisted mason line, to create the "hook," for the patio curtain tie backs https://fantabulosity.com
Use electrical tape to tape the twisted mason line, to create a hook for the curtain tie back

Slide a coupling over the end of the rope, covering the tape and the extra stings, if any. Note: Since the couplings are rigid, it secures it on the rope a bit more! If you have trouble slipping the coupling on the rope, try “twisting,” it on. That seemed to work best for us.

Slide a ½ in rigid metal coupling over the end (over the electrical tape and line) for the patio curtain tie backs

The DIY patio curtain tie backs are done!

Then they were all ready to tie my new curtains back! Plus… I saved a TON of money doing it! It cost me $48 to make all 9, when I was going to have to pay $50 to receive two. That’s around $5 a piece! Woot! Success!!!

Cereal Bar Ideas: Brunch shower, bridal shower, mother's day, baby shower breakfast party

A cereal bar is one of the easiest and most fun food ideas for a party, brunch, or shower. With just a few cereals, toppings, and simple setup ideas, you can create a colorful, interactive food bar your guests will love.

Whether you’re hosting a baby shower, birthday, or weekend brunch, these cereal bar ideas will help you keep things simple and stress-free.

What Do You Need for a Cereal Bar?

    • Bowls + spoons
    • Serving jars or containers

    Best Cereal Bar Toppings

Provide additional fun and tasty cereal “toppings,” for your guests to add to their individual bowls, such as fresh fruits like those pictured here, or I even like to add chopped nuts for an added crunch.  It’s a cereal buffet!  Let them mix it up, and have fun with a few different creations!

    “Clink Clink” Pink Drink Ideas

    April 18, 2016

Clink Clink Pink Drink Ideas - Strawberry Milk for a pretty in pink brunch!

Pink Drink Ideas: A non-alcoholic drink, that’s perfect for a pink themed brunch!

When planning a Spring Mother’s Day Cereal Bar Party the other day, I decided that the table needed a pink drink, but wanted to keep it simple, and non-alcoholic for my non-drinking mother.

Quickly after snapping the photos of this gorgeous little pink drink, my mind started swarming with fun ideas of ways to use it, for future parties!

    Pink Drink Idea for Brunch:

Clink Clink Pink Drink Ideas - Strawberry Milk for a pretty in pink brunch!

Since this party was hosted in the morning, and was centered around “cereal,” then I knew the signature drink needed to include milk. After a few seconds of brainstorming how I could turn the milk pink, (instead of just using food coloring) I knew that Hershey’s made a strawberry syrup, and I actually already had it in the refrigerator!`Bonus! So I made the typical Strawberry Milk that some of you have probably been making for YEARS.  Pour it in a fun, stylish glass, and you’ve given a lot of “umph,” to a simple, every day drink, for your party.

See more pink drink ideas at the bottom of this post!

Style Up Your Strawberry Milk for Pink Drink Ideas

If you’re looking to put a twist on simple strawberry milk, I’ve brainstormed over some ideas for you:

    • Pour strawberry milk in to mason jars, wine glasses, or milk bottles
    • Add whipped cream to the top of the strawberry milk & top with sprinkles
    • Sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top of the whipped cream topping
    • Add Rumchata to the strawberry milk for an alcoholic version of a pink drink
    • Insert a cute paper straw to accent the drink
    • Blend the strawberry milk with ice, to create an “Iced Strawberry Milk,” drink

    Quick Tip:

Instead of pouring milk in to a large container and stirring the syrup in, I put it in a mason jar, and shook the milk, and added more syrup until it reached the desired color of pink. After a couple of splashes, I had the pink color down to a perfect match of my party’s color scheme!

Or… you could get all crazy-like, and make your own strawberry milk by pureeing real strawberries, and adding it to the milk? What do you think?

Either way, pour it in to a fancy-schmancy glass, and you’ve added a ton of charm to a simple drink, for your party table.

I had been eyeing the new IKEA mini champagne glasses that I snagged during my recent Ikea shopping extravaganza, and I knew the pink drink would look FABULOUS in them, for the party. Right!?

    Additional Pink Drink Ideas

If milk isn’t a “fitting,” party drink for your theme, here are a few other pink drink ideas you may be able to incorporate, either store-bought, or go all out and make your own for your party:

    • Strawberry Lemonade
    • Pink Lemonade

    Summer Side Salad

    March 6, 2016

    Summer Side Salad fantabulosity.com

Summer Side Salad: An incredibly easy side salad to serve any day of the week, and versatile enough to switch it up, for ingredients that you may need to substitute, making different kinds of salad recipes!

I decided to call this the Summer Side Salad because the bright ingredients remind me of summer, and I’ll be making this salad recipe to take to all of the Summer outings that we attend, or to serve as an easy summer dinner idea. It’s super easy to make, and it looks like I worked REALLY hard to make it look good. (But shhh… it literally took me five minutes to toss together.)

    Summer Side Salad fantabulosity.com

What You’ll Need to Make This:

    Summer Side Salad fantabulosity.com

We had spinach, and leaf lettuce (it can be bitter at times, so romaine is always a safe bet) The secret to a really good salad, is to chop it up super, super fine. (My mother-in-law taught me that very important tidbit. See exactly what I do, this side salad recipe!)

    Summer Side Salad fantabulosity.com

Our entire house is full of goat cheese fans, so any time I make a salad, I try to include goat cheese as one of the ingredients.

    Summer Side Salad

Strawberries on a salad, not only taste stinking delish… but that pop of color make it hard to deny.

    Summer Side Salad fantabulosity.com

Toss on the nuts and the dried fruit. (I used a dried cranberry & blueberry blend.)

    Summer Side Salad fantabulosity.com

Oh, and avocados… if I could buy stock in avocados, I would. Wait… can I?

    Summer Side Salad fantabulosity.com

I just adore when random ingredients flow together lovely. I couldn’t resist sharing the recipe with you all, and I hope you find a chance to make it this Spring or Summer! (Next, print out this “hello summer” printable to really celebrate the warm weather in your home!)

Free Printable Baby Shower Advice & Best Wishes Cards

Late Night Wishes Baby Advice Cards for Baby Shower Free Download Printable Boy, Girl fantabulosity.com

Free Printable Baby Shower Advice Cards: “Late Night Wishes…” for the Mom to be! Free printable for a new mom, or a multiple-time mom!

I recently helped cohost a baby shower for a dear friend who was expecting her second little bundle of joy. With the mindset of keeping it laid back and casual, we decided to keep everything low key, and do a little something that would be meaningful… rather than play baby shower games.

Free Printable Baby Shower Advice Cards Instead of Games

Free printable - Late Night Wishes Baby Advice Cards for Baby Shower Free Download Printable Boy, Girl, Gender Neutral fantabulosity.com

The idea of each guest writing a little note to the mommy, came to mind. So… since I love creating things like birthday invitations in Canva, I had been toying with the idea of creating a printable for each guest to use, rather than just a blank sheet of paper, and the Baby Shower Advice Printables, were born.

    An Advice Card for Everyone!

When it came to topics to “write,” about, I wanted to give each guest a starting point, so they would’t have the pressure of having to get creative, starting from scratch. Since some guests weren’t mommies yet, I wanted them to be able to give “best wishes.” Then, there were mommies there, who had little girls at home, so they may have been able to offer “baby girl,” advice. Lastly, since this mommy was going to be a second-time mommy, the mommies of multiples were able to give “Multiple Kiddo Advice.”

Free printables for Baby Shower Games. Late Night Wishes Baby Advice Cards for Baby Shower Free Download Printable Boy, Girl, Gender Neutral fantabulosity.com

When each guest finished filling out their cards, I provided a small burlap favor bag, to slip their card in to. Then the mommy was able to take her little advice cards home, and could pull them out, one by one, during a late night feeding, when she was needing a little advice or encouragement.

Just select the image of the item that you want and it will open up in to a PDF for you to save/print!

    Printing Details:

I simply printed my cards, as a 5×7. You could print them smaller/bigger, just change your printer settings!

    Extra Note:

To go a step further for the mommy of honor, you could find a super cute container or basket like this, to put all of the advice cards in, that would look adorable on the dresser or nightstand in the nursery. (Something to match the room decor.)

I hope you enjoy these baby shower advice cards. I know I would have LOVED to have them, when I had my babies!

    Easy DIY Football Party Ideas

Throwing a football party for your friends and family, doesn’t have to be super expensive, or complicated! With a few DIY football ideas, you can turn an afternoon or evening of football, in to a celebration.

First… “Take it to the House,” and score with your biggest friends, by hosting a football viewing party in your own home, instead of footin’ the bill at a public place. Turn a small corner or space in to the center of the party.

Use a table that you already have on hand, (or a dresser, bookshelf, anything that would hold the party snacks!)

    Football Party Ideas fantabulosity.com

A piece of white foam board, can go a LONG way when it comes to creating a DIY backdrop for your party station. Grab inexpensive card stock, a chalk marker, glue dots, and one or two of those super affordable green “grass,” mats at a local store, like I used to cut out the football at the top of the backdrop!
I found my grass mats, for only a couple of dollars, when I was at Walmart buying the ingredients for my “Open Faced Cheeseburger Sliders.”

    DIY “Score” Football Banner

With the card stock, you can easily cut a 12×12 piece of card stock, in to 4… and create a banner to say whatever you like! I chose to keep mine small and simple. “Score,” for the green, and I found a sheet of brown that made the perfect little square football “ends,” to the banner. With a chalk marker, I was able to easily & quickly draw the “laces,” on the football. For the letters, I used my Silhouette machine, but you could easily draw those on with a chalk marker as well!

Oh how cute!!! "Play" books for football party decorations! fantabulosity.com

Keeping on with the cardstock theme, my sweet friend Kate, from 300 Ninth, introduced me to how easy it was to create “play book,” signs out of black card stock and a white chalk marker. Talk about easy, and affordable decor! I absolutely love her easy DIY crafts and recipes!

    DIY “Astroturf,” Coasters

I couldn’t help myself when I saw the green “grass,” rugs in the store, thinking about how FABULOUS they’d look under each bottle of Coke Zero. This tied in the “astroturf,” look, and gave it a “pop,” of color on the table.
Cutting small squares out of the rug, for the coasters, was as easy as it sounds. Just “cut,” in to squares, and you’re done.

    DIY Paper Snack Cones

You won’t BELIEVE how I ended up making these DIY paper snack cones! I had small, square, brown envelopes laying around, that needed put to good use. I simply rolled one bottom corner of the envelope, all the way to the opposite top corner of the envelope, and sealed with glue dots. Then, I grabbed my white chalk marker, drew “laces,” on them, and they were ready for popcorn!

If you’ve been following me on Facebook lately, it’s no surprise to you, that I’ve been a bit obsessed with learning how to decorate cookies with royal icing. The professionals just make it look so easy, and I was determined to give it a try the other day. A football party seemed like the BEST excuse to practice on yet, another batch of cookies, so little football sugar cookies were a MUST.

    Now for the MAIN EVENT….

Mini Open Faced Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders

The cutest and easiest, impressive appetizer for the party, were my Mini Open Faced Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders! These little bite size burgers are stacked with the toppings of your choice! Although, “mini,” the little burgers, leave a BIG impression!

    Video Tutorial & Recipe Below…

Open faced cheeseburger on Ritz crackers, appetizers! So cute & easy! Football Party Ideas fantabulosity.com

Mini Open Bacon Faced Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders

(Quantities of ingredients, depend on burger size you choose, and your topping selections.)

    • 1 “sleeve,” of RITZ® Crackers
    • 1 lb. of Ground Beef
    • 5 Slices American Cheese, but in to fourths
    • Toppings of your choice. {I used my Smoked Candied Bacon, recipe, and leaf lettuce}

    Directions:

Roll out ground beef, like you would to cut sugar cookies. Using a small round circle “cut-out” (I used the opening of a small parfait glass, but a small bowl may work. Just make sure it’s about the size of a Ritz® Cracker), cut out small round burgers.

Cook the burgers in an electric skillet on 350, for 5 minutes, until the juices ran clear. (You could easily cook these mini burgers in a skillet on the stove top too! Cook until browned on one side, flip, and then remove when juices run “clear.”)

When the burgers have finished cooking, place a square of cheese on top, allowing it to melt.

Top a Ritz® Cracker, with mini cheeseburger, and begin layering on the desired toppings.

Insert a toothpick (or party pick, like I used to be a little more festive), in to the top of the toppings, securing the toppings to the burgers.

Vintage Christmas Party Ideas (Easy Food & Dessert Table Ideas)

    December 23, 2015

Ahh! Such an adorable theme! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

If you love old-fashioned holiday charm, these vintage Christmas party ideas are the perfect way to create a cozy and memorable gathering. From simple dessert table ideas to a hot chocolate bar and classic holiday treats, this setup is easy to recreate and always a hit with guests.

Ahh! Such an adorable theme! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

Oh how fun this Vintage Christmas party would have been.

    Yes… I said, “Would have been.” 🙁

One of my kiddos came down with a fever a couple of days before our annual Santa Night Party this year. Unfortunately, his little body can’t handle fevers like some others can. He’s one of the not-so-lucky ones that has seizures. The morning before our party date, he once again had a seizure, and once the craziness calmed down… I immediately sent out notifications to our friends, letting them know that we had to cancel the party for this year, so we could take care of our little guy.

But, I quickly styled this Vintage Christmas Party a few days later, so I could share the ideas that I had with you all. Luckily, there wasn’t much to it, and we made sure the cookies and cupcakes didn’t go to waste. Put it this way… our neighbors were VERY happy.

Ahh! Such an adorable theme! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

    Vintage Christmas Party Food Ideas

One of the easiest ways to pull off a vintage Christmas party is by keeping the food simple but nostalgic. Think bakery-style treats, classic cookies, and a cozy drink station that makes everyone feel right at home.

    Store-Bought Cookies (With Easy Upgrades)

Don't overthink this-store-bought cookies totally work here. Arrange them on a cake stand or vintage plate and they instantly feel special. If you want to dress them up a bit, dust with powdered sugar, add a drizzle of melted chocolate, or place them in festive liners for a bakery-style look.

But we do have a delicious gingerbread man cookie recipe so you can make your own. Or, make these DIY gingerbread ornaments to hand out as party favors!

Gingerbread Men for a party! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

    Snowball Cookies

These are a must for that old-fashioned Christmas feel. The powdered sugar coating gives them that soft, snowy look that fits perfectly on a holiday dessert table. Whether they’re homemade snowball cookies or store-bought, they always look like you put in more effort than you did.

    Thumbprint Cookies

The red and green centers are what make these perfect for a vintage Christmas theme. They add that pop of color to your table without needing extra decor, and they're always one of the first things people grab.

Oh how I wish I would have thought to make these cornflake wreath cookies to go with this party!

Red and green thumbprint cookies for a party! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

    Cupcakes with Vintage Toppers

Simple cupcakes can become the centerpiece of your dessert table with the right toppers. A vintage truck, Christmas tree, or classic holiday image instantly ties everything together and gives that nostalgic feel without needing anything complicated.

    Vintage Hot Chocolate Bar Ideas

This is what really brings the whole setup together. A small hot chocolate station adds warmth and makes the party feel cozy and intentional.

    Set out:

    • Marshmallows
    • Peppermint sticks
    • Whipped cream
    • Chocolate chips
    • Festive drink stirrers
    • Flavored syrups

Use simple kraft cups or mugs, and add a small tag or label so guests can help themselves. It's one of those little touches that makes everything feel extra special without adding more work.

This PILLOW!!! LOVE! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

Once I had the pillow, I HAD to get the snow globe, right!? Besides, my kids are uber obsessed with the snow globe. It’s the little things. 🙂

EEEK, this SNOW GLOBE! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

    Don’t forget the old-fashioned gingerbreadmen…

Alright… the cupcakes. The little vintage truck and Christmas tree cupcake topper, MELT my heart. I found a vintage truck and tree image to send my cupcake lady, and she NAILED it. Didn’t she? Now… if I could only learn how to do this too!

OMG! These cupcakes are ADORABLE! Vintage truck and tree for a party! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

I bought precious little to-go, “kraft,” coffee cups from Shop Sweet Lulu, and I thought a little Christmas party needed a little “hot chocolate station.” Right!?

I created a little tag, by using my stamps, to create a “hot chocolate,” tag. Tie it around the jar with baker’s twine, and now your guests will know EXACTLY what it is.

Such a cute idea! Hot chocolate station on a dessert table! Vintage Christmas Party Ideas: Truck with Christmas Tree, cupcakes, red green and white, hot chocolate bar

Have you thought about using fabric tape to wrap around your beverage cups? You wouldn’t BELIEVE how often I do this. It add just the right amount of detail to plain jane cup, and it’s an easy & quick way to make it happen!

    Favorite Things Party Ideas

    December 22, 2015

Martini Bar Ideas fantabulosity.com Red apple martini and White Chocolate Peppermint Martini

How to host a favorite things party! This holiday party (or any time of year party really) is so fun, and easy to host. Everyone goes home with something new!

There’s just something about all of your gal pals getting together for one night, to sip on cocktails, eat fancy foods, and chatting all night long. Throw in a gift exchange of your favorite items…

    …it’s hard to beat.

Favorite Things Party Ideas! How fun, for a girls night and gift exchange

    Favorite Things Party: Winter Edition

If you saw my Favorite Things party last year, then you may already have a good idea of how it works. (At least how we do it at my house. I’ll give more party “how-to” tips below.) Head over to that post to How to Host a Favorite Things Party, to see how we did the gift exchange!

Last year was the first “Favorite Things Party,” and before the night was over, we were already saying how we couldn’t wait to do it again. So… this year rolled around, and it was a no-brainer. It all began with my current obsession of “plaid.” Red, black & white were the colors, and plaid was EVERYWHERE.

    Favorite Things Party Food Ideas

When it’s just the gals getting together, I like to keep it classy. Most of us are moms, so we spend the majority of the time, covered in spaghetti o’s, and graham cracker crumbs. This is a night about “us,” so creating a menu that screams a little “fanciness,” makes all of us a feel a little more “human.”

(I ordered two plaid blanket’s from Target, to position down the center of my table, to tie in the plaid theme. Plus… I get to keep the blankets and use them in my living area now. WIN!)

    Appetizers

We had an assortment of appetizer-type goodies, along with a few items to tame our sweet tooth cravings.

Favorite Things Party Ideas - How to Host Favorite Things Party fantabulosity.com

Meatballs: Stick a mini fork in them, and all of a sudden, they’re a classy cocktail appetizer… and not a Superbowl side dish.

Favorite Things Party Ideas - How to Host Favorite Things Party fantabulosity.com

Caprese Rosemary Skewers: I saw my gal Ree, from the Pioneer Woman whip these up, about two weeks before my party, and I knew they had to be on my menu. For goodness sakes they’re adorable and delish.

Bruschetta: Oh the bruschetta. How I love thee. I literally make this about once a week, and just have it for dinner, by myself. Here’s where you can get my easy bruschetta recipe!

French Bread Pizzas: Gotta give it up to the Pioneer Woman again. She had french bread pizzas on a recent show, and well… one of my “favorite things,” is pizza, so it had to be on the menu. I did slice mine in to smaller pieces, so they’d be easier to handle. My favorite? I made one with Canadian bacon and pineapple. THIS, will be on my weekly dinner rotation from here on. We also had tomato/basil, and pepperoni & black olive options to choose from.

Tortellini Skewers: Cheese and pasta. Pasta and cheese. Arrange it on a skewer, and cover it in a little bit of pesto. I actually served these chilled, rather than warm, for a little twist on the usual.

    Dessert

Oreo Peppermint Bark: Oh dessert! My “favorite,” part. I’m part of a “mastermind group,” of bloggers, where we share some of our blog posts with one another… and one of my blogging gals posted a recipe for Oreo Peppermint Bark, about 3 days before my party. “Red, black, and white!?” Plus… it was easy to make? I totally made a last minute addition to the menu. Thank you A Pumpkin and a Princess!

Reese’s Peanut Butter Mini Cheesecakes: When I saw these little glorious mini cheesecakes from “Best Recipes Ever”, they were a MUST for our dessert portion. I mean, bite-size… peanut butter… chocolate… cheesecake… cute as can be…. done. My gal pal Kate made these for me, because she knew I was pressed for time, and well because, she’s just plain fabulous.

Cupcakes: Ahhh…. plaid cupcake wrappers. During my online shopping craze for this party, if it was plaid… it was in my cart. Besides, who doesn’t love a good ole fashion cupcake? (That you don’t have to share with your toddler.) 😉

Cupcakes with plaid liners or wrappers! Favorite Things Party Ideas - How to Host Favorite Things Party fantabulosity.com

Mini Chocolate Cakes: Don’t ask me where this idea came from. Perhaps my abundant love of chocolate? I picked up a DELICIOUS looking chocolate cake at a bakery, took small pieces, and put them in to mini martini-glass shaped dishes, topped with a little whipped cream, and layered on another bite of cake. Easy, classy, and decadent.

    Martini Bar

Did you see me on TV a few weeks ago? I was telling you how I always love to have a “WOW,” factor at all of my parties. You don’t have to go crazy to make your party memorable. Sometimes I think that people stress themselves out, by making sure everything they do, is top-notch and crazy over the top. But really, if you have one big “WOW,” factor??? Odds are, your guests will love that one thing so much… that the rest just flows around it, looking all fabulous-like too.

This is where my Martini Bar came in. I wanted a little “umph,” in my cocktail options this year. I may, or may not have also wanted a cocktail selection that didn’t require too many sips, to make the “moms,” relax a little quicker. Martini’s usually do that for me, and I had never seen a “martini bar,” created before… so my “WOW,” factor was born.

Martini Bar Ideas fantabulosity.com Red apple martini and White Chocolate Peppermint Martini

To keep things simple, and not to overwhelm my guests…

I had TWO martini options that the gals could choose from. A classy, smooth, semi-tart, Red Apple Martini or a sweet, dessert-like, White Chocolate Peppermint Martini.

With the directions printed out, they were able to create their own as needed.  Believe it or not… I think they had a little fun, being their own bartender. Creating something for your guests to “do,” for themselves at your party, can bring out their creativity, and will make them feel a little more comfortable and “at home,” for the rest of the party.

    Drink Garnishes

If you saw my post of the Red Apple Martini,

Red Apple Martini for Favorite Things Party

…you saw how I lined my martini glasses with coconut flakes. The red martini and the coconut, made the cocktail look a little like a Santa hat, and since it was close to Christmas, it worked perfectly. I lined a few more of the martini glasses in crushed peppermint, and left a few plain, for those who weren’t fans of the “extras.”

Cranberries on Rosemary, {not gonna lie: kind of a pain to put together} were AH-dorable. Since this was my first time creating these for drink garnishes, I couldn’t help but die laughing, when I looked over and saw one of my gal pals getting slapped in the face with the HUGE rosemary sprig, while she took a sip. God love her. Guess next time I’ll make sure the rosemary sprigs are smaller. 😉

You can’t have a martini bar without blue cheese stuffed olives. They’re a total fave of mine, and sadly, our local restaurant in town, knows that when I walk in, I want a lemon drop martini with a side of blue cheese olives. I know… they don’t pair well together, but I can’t help myself. Blue Cheese olives are just my “thang.”

    Favorite Things Party Favors

You know my love for party favors. If you saw on my Facebook page a few weeks ago, I shared a sneak peek of what I was snagging at IKEA, to give away as party favors. IKEA had these ah-dorable little fleece blankets for around $3 a piece. I purchased red and gray to go with my plaid theme, wrapped some ribbon around them, created a party favor tag, and attached a little piece of spruce {from a tree in my parents yard}, to each one. By FAR, my favorite party favor creation, EVER.

I styled them on my gold bar cart from Target, placed it by the door, and each guest grabbed one on their way out!

I also gave you a sneak peak a few weeks ago, of the sign that I created for the Favorite Things gift exchange.

Adult Coloring: Party Signs just look more "custom," when they're drawn or colored. Love this!

    How the Gift Exchange Works:

    • Each guest brings 3, wrapped, $15 gifts. (Total of $45.00) The gifts can all be different, or can all be the same thing.

    • When guests arrive, they write their own name down, on three sheets of paper. {Or gift tags, if you wanna get a little fancy}

    • When you’re ready to begin the gift exchange, decide who will go first. That person will draw three names from the basket, and give those three people, the three gifts {favorite things of theirs}, out to them. When doing this, tell them “WHY,” it’s your favorite thing.

    • Go around the room, and everyone will go home with three different gifts! It’s an ABSOLUTE blast.

Favorite Things Party Ideas! How fun, for a girls night and gift exchange

My favorite photo of the night.  If this doesn’t capture how fun, and exciting it is to get someone’s “favorite thing…” I don’t know what does.

Favorite Things Party: Summer Edition 2016

Ahem… I may, or may not have already started planning my Favorite Things party for 2016.

As busy as everyone is around the holidays, I have decided to host “Favorite Things Party #3,” during the Summer. That way, we won’t have to juggle schedules, and fight with prior commitments of the holidays. Besides, I kind of have some FABULOUS ideas for a Summer party outdoors with my gal pals…

    Red Apple Martini Cocktail

    December 13, 2015

Red apple martini in martini glass.

This post was sponsored by Libbey as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review, using martini glasses to make my red apple martini!

I will say, there’s definitely an advantage to planning a party. Especially a party that I have to experiment with signature drink recipes…

Red Apple Martini for Favorite Things Party

My Favorite Things party, will be a “plaid,” theme… laying a little heavy on the red. So I knew I wanted at least ONE red drink on my table, so a Red Apple Martini soon became the “one.”

When I’m hosting, I ALWAYS want to create a wow factor for my guests. It’s the best part of entertaining for me! I want my guests to feel “welcomed,” and to hopefully give them the thought:

I’m so glad that I came.”

Last year, for my Favorite Things party, I created a Champagne Bar for the girly girls, and WHEW! They LOVED & DEVOURED it. So this year, I decide to create the same “Wow,” factor but mix it up a bit. (Ha… no pun intended.)

    Martini Bar

This year I will be creating a martini bar for the sweet gals, with a couple of signature martini’s that they can easily whip up.

During the search for martini bar goodies, I found the PERFECT martini glasses, just in time. They’re the Libbey® Glass Perfect Signature™ Auden Martini Glasses, from Bed Bath and Beyond. They have that tall, skinny stem, that screams a “modern,” look, which will look fabulous, displayed with all of the goodies on the table.
When I was shopping around, I kept seeing other martini glasses that had chunky stems, zigzag stems, and some that had a “cloudy,” look. They just weren’t cutting it for me. Then… I found these lovelies. You may not think so, but what your glass looks like, can make a BIG difference in what your whole martini bar looks like.

Red Apple Martini for Favorite Things Party

Since my Favorite Things party is hosted right around the holiday’s this year, I added a little coconut to the rim of the martini glass, and with the Red Apple Martini deliciousness… it looks like an upside-down Santa hat, right!? Eeeeek! Super fun. I cannot WAIT to get these in front of my gal pals.

    Red Apple Martini

Red Apple Martini for Favorite Things Party

This martini could definitely be served any time of the year.

    • It’s fruity enough for a Summertime Martini

    • “Fitting,” enough for a Fall Martini

    • and the PERFECT color for a Winter Martini

    How to Rim the Glass

I found the CUTEST idea, to rim the glass with coconut from Blue Ribbon Kitchen.

Light corn syrup is my best friend, when it comes to lining glasses. It has a sweet taste, and with it being almost transparent, you can barely see it.

In a small plate, combine coconut flakes and white sanding sugar or small white sprinkles, if desired.

In another small plate, add a little light corn syrup.

Lightly dip {or you’ll have excess syrup rolling down your glass} the outside edge of the rim into the corn syrup.

Milk and Cookies Party Ideas (Easy Cookie Bar + Setup Guide)

Milk and Cookies Party Play Date Ideas. Snowman Nutter Butter Truffle

A milk and cookies party is one of the easiest and most fun ways to host a cozy gathering, whether it's for kids, a holiday party, or a simple get-together. With a mix of store-bought and homemade cookies, a simple milk bar setup, and a few creative touches, you can create a party that feels special without a lot of work.

Usually, around once a month, a group of us moms will bring the kiddos together for a play date, and I wanted to put a little spin on the most recent, for Christmas time.

How to Set Up a Milk and Cookies Party

    • Include napkins, plates, and simple decor
    • Use a table or cart as your "cookie bar"
    • Offer a mix of cookies (soft, crunchy, chocolate, classic)
    • Serve milk in jars or glasses for easy grab-and-go
    • Add labels so guests can see flavors

Milk and Cookies Party Food Ideas

Here’s a quick rundown of food ideas for your milk and cookies party. I’ll show you more of this below…

    • Store-bought cookies
    • Homemade cookies like these red velvet cake mix cookies or these monster cookies
    • Cookie truffles (or these sugar cookie truffles)
    • Cupcakes or brownies (These red velvet brownies or these Oreo cupcakes)
    • Hot chocolate bar that’s filled with snacks like these hot chocolate muddy buddies.

I filled the table with cookies, styled them in adorable little jars and baskets, and then it was time to get to creating. I also created little snowman tags, listing which cookie was in each container.

In a “sweet” mood, I had some time to create a little special treat for each kiddo that was coming. Snowman Nutter Butter Truffles. I wasn’t sure if they’d work out like I had pictured in my head… but to my surprise, they turned out quite darling! (And were actually VERY easy.)

The kids went NUTS when they saw their own personal snowmen.

What little kiddo wouldn’t love a milk and cookies party?  These little guys sure did, and my son is ready for another one already.

Milk and Cookies Party Play Date Ideas. Snowman Nutter Butter Truffle

I love using the little snack boxes of cookies that I used. They’re the perfect size for stocking stuffers, and you could even tie a precious little tag around the box and hand them out as gifts!

    No-Bake Nutter Butter Truffle Recipe:

Found original recipe idea on High Heels & Grills.

    Ingredients:

    • 16 oz. Nutter Butter Cookies
    • 8 oz. package of softened cream cheese
    • 16 oz. package of white almond bark, or white chocolate

    Instructions:

    1. Crush your Nutter Butter cookies, either with a food processor, or place in a zip-top bag, crushing the cookies using a mallet.
    2. Pour crushed Nutter Butter cookies in to a bowl.
    3. Add in your cream cheese, and mix. (You can use a hand mixer, or I used my stand mixer.)
    4. Mix until evenly combined.
    5. Begin rolling the mixture in to small, round balls, placing them on a cookie sheet, covered with wax or parchment paper.
    6. If making my snowman truffles, place truffles in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes until hardened. If just serving truffles like they are, you can cover in white chocolate immediately.
    7. Melt white chocolate or almond bark, according to package directions.
    8. Dip each truffle in to the white chocolate, covering them evenly.
    9. Store in the refrigerator, if not serving immediately.

    Snowman Truffle Tutorial:

    Step by Step Snowman Truffles…

    • Complete steps 1-7 above, to make the Nutter Butter Truffles.
    • Pull truffles from refrigerator, grabbing two truffles to work with.
    • With one truffle, gently flatten the bottom, where it will allow the snowman to balance more easily.
    • Dip one end of a toothpick into the melted white chocolate, and place into the top of the truffle you just made for the base of the snowman. (When the chocolate hardens, this will secure the truffle on the toothpick, more securely.)
    • Dip the other end of the toothpick into the melted chocolate, placing the 2nd truffle on to the toothpick, making your snowman, and set aside.
    • Place a small dollop of the melted chocolate in the center of a graham cracker. (This will help secure the snowman to the graham cracker.)
    • Moving quickly, dunk your snowman into the melted chocolate, letting as much excess chocolate drip off of the snowman, before standing it up on to the graham cracker.

    Turn them into Snowmen!

    • Begin applying all of the snowman’s features, gently but quickly, before the chocolate hardens.
      – Hershey Kisses (Hat)
      – Mini Candy Canes (Sled)
      – Mini Choc. Chips (Eyes)
      – Mini M&M’s (Orange nose)
      – Peel-a-Part Candy (Scarf)
      – Graham Crackers (Sled)
    • To make the sleigh, place a small amount of melted chocolate on to the bottom of two mini candy canes, placing them on the sides.
    • Repeat until you’ve reached the desired amount of sleigh-riding snowmen!

IMPORTANT: Since the toothpick is hidden inside the snowmen, make sure your guests know to be cautious when eating!

    DIY “Hot Chocolate” Gift

    December 4, 2015

This is SO cute! And easy... teacher gift, mailman, co-worker. Hot Chocolate DIY Gift Idea

This post was sponsored by Regions Bank. All opinions are my own.

I can’t thank Regions Bank enough for sponsoring my little DIY Hot Chocolate Gift Idea that I’m sharing with you today, through Mom It Forward! #RegionsGreetings

Every year, I seem to over-do it financially, when it comes to gift giving.

Why?  Why in the world do we do that to ourselves?  This year, I’ve really thought about how I can still be the “gift-giver,” that I want to be, without breaking the bank.

This is SO cute! And easy... teacher gift, mailman, co-worker. Hot Chocolate DIY Gift Idea

DIY gift ideas are ALL OVER Pinterest.  I thought, “Why can’t I spend pennies, making something that would include a lot more “thought,” behind it, instead of buying someone another bottle of lotion or a candle that screams,

I totally just grabbed this, because I had to.”

    Don’t laugh… you know what I’m talking about. 🙂

I was sitting in my dining room, staring at all of the recent goodies that I picked up, and a lightbulb went off.  Why couldn’t I go ahead and make a stash of DIY gifts, to hand out around Christmas time?  My wallet will thank me, and my crazy-stressed-out self, with thank me as it gets closer to gift-giving time.

I’ve had the CUTEST milk bottles, sitting around waiting for me to create something crafty out of them, so this DIY Hot Chocolate gift was perfect!

    DIY Hot Chocolate Gift Idea

This is SO cute! And easy... teacher gift, mailman, co-worker. Hot Chocolate DIY Gift Idea

    What you Need:

    1. Milk Bottle

    2. Individual package of instant hot chocolate mix

    3. Mini marshmallows

    4. Mini Chocolate Chips

    5. Crushed peppermints

    6. Cinnamon Stick

    7. Gift Tag

    Instructions:

    • Pour the hot chocolate mix in to the bottom of the milk bottle.

    • Next, layer the following in this order:

mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, and peppermints.

    • Finally, angle the cinnamon stick on top!

(You of course can layer them any way you like, but I found that this order really broke up the colors and allowed the “red,” from the peppermints to “pop.”)

All the recipient will have to do is add hot water, and the all-in-one gourmet hot chocolate is ready to go!  Plus… they get to keep the cutsie little milk bottle too. 😉

(My milk bottles came with a lid, so I will put a lid on top for them, in case they aren’t ready to drink it immediately.)

This is SO cute! And easy... teacher gift, mailman, co-worker. Hot Chocolate DIY Gift Idea

I’m tempted to even make these for all of my guests who are coming to my “Favorite Things,” party that I’m hosting.  We will be having a hot chocolate bar, and I’m thinking these would make the most ADORABLE party favors for my guests… right!?

Or, if you want to make a variety of different gifts, this tea gift is perfect for tea lovers, or these DIY snow ornaments are adorable to give. Or, these fun little Christmas M&M jars with a free tag are super cute too!

How fun would this be to create for even a small gathering at home!? Simple Tips for Creating a Holiday Dessert Bar

This Holiday Dessert Bar post, has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and NESTLE®. All opinions and ideas are mine alone, pinky promise! #NestleHoliday #CollectiveBias

Creating a dessert bar doesn’t have to be complicated… Really!

We invited our closest friends over for dinner, and since we hadn’t seen them in what felt like AGES, I wanted to do a little something special to make it up to them, and surprise them with a dessert bar.

How fun would this be to create for even a small gathering at home!? Simple Tips for Creating a Holiday Dessert Bar

Yes, I know what you’re thinking:

Jessica, you’re crazy. Who has time to do something like that during the holiday season?

But I’m so ecstatic to tell you that you TOO can create a dessert bar, with a few simple tips and tricks that I have up my sleeve.

What a fabulous “Wow,” factor that this will create, when your friends walk in the door. They’ll feel extremely special that you “spent all of that time,” creating something just because they were coming over. But little will they know, it didn’t take hardly any time at all. 😉

Side note: If you’re planning on hosting the holiday’s at your house this year, PAH-leese don’t tackle that task without my Holiday Party Planner. I use it for all of my parties and others swear by it:

Tips for Creating a Holiday Dessert Bar

Let me show you the details of the dessert bar that I created here, and I’ll fill you in on easy ways to make it happen. PLUS… I’m sharing a BUTTERFINGER® Puppy Chow recipe & a Chocolate Chip Surprise CRUNCH® Cookie idea, at the end!

How fun would this be to create for even a small gathering at home!? Simple Tips for Creating a Holiday Dessert Bar

#1. Tip: Use what you already have.  I say this time & time again… but I mean it. If you’re creating a holiday themed dessert bar, pull Christmas decorations from other parts of the house, and fill your table with decor. I guarantee your guests won’t even notice it used to be elsewhere.

Do you see that glorious BUTTERFINGER® Puppy Chow? Yeah… recipe below.

How fun would this be to create for even a small gathering at home!? Simple Tips for Creating a Holiday Dessert Bar

#2. Tip: Keep the serve wear neutral.  Since I entertain a lot, I usually keep my eye out for “good deals,” on white or kraft-colored serve ware. That way, when I decide to host a gathering, I’ll typically have what I need on hand, and can use it at the drop of a hat. Sticking with white & neutral will typically allow you to easily color coordinate with the theme you have going on.

Yes, that’s fudge.  The NESTLE® CARNATION® Famous Fudge Kit came in super handy, because I was able to whip it up in no-time, add a few festive pieces of peppermint, and it all of a sudden went with the holiday theme.

How fun would this be to create for even a small gathering at home!? Simple Tips for Creating a Holiday Dessert Bar

#3. Think Pre-Made.  Desserts are EVERYWHERE. Buying something premade, or semi-made, and adding a special touch to it, making it your own… can put a nice spin on something, and you’ll be a shining star with your creativity. I literally dashed in to Walmart, grabbed a few of my favorite NESTLE® goodies, and my dessert bar menu was a go. They always know how to make life easy for a busy gal on the go.

Tips for Creating a Holiday Dessert Bar

The Chocolate Chip Surprise CRUNCH® cookies below?  Totally snagged a tub of the NESTLE® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Dough, rolled it in to small balls and inserted one of the NESTLE® CRUNCH® Jingles in the center and baked it. Yep… I was the dessert hero, and it hardly took any time. Tutorial for this cookie below too!

#4. Mini is in.  Serving the desserts in small portions, is always a hit with my dessert bars. Guests are able to quickly pick up the item they want and walk away with it. The small portion sizes allow them to snack on a little bit of everything.

How fun would this be to create for even a small gathering at home!? Simple Tips for Creating a Holiday Dessert Bar

#5. Fill the table UP!  I have a problem with leaving a dessert table with blank spaces. I used to be a firm believer that you couldn’t overlap anything, and everything had to be lined up perfectly. That’s just not the case. A dessert table doesn’t have to be completed covered in desserts… but if you’re left with empty spaces, fill them up with “something.” This gives the appearance that it’s “all put together.” Rather than a, bare… plain looking table, that’s lacking a little somethin’-somethin’.

So if you follow me on Facebook or Periscope, you may have seen the the little sneak peak video of how I was setting up my holiday dessert bar. But in case you missed it, you can see that below:

So although my dessert bar looks extravagant, it actually didn’t take a long time to prepare at all. The recipes and items that I chose were so easy to create, and looks FAB on the dessert bar.

    Ingredients

    • 10 ounce Pkg BUTTERFINGER® Bars
    • 12 oz. box of square rice cereal
    • 1 ½ cup milk chocolate chips
    • ¾ cup peanut butter
    • ½ cup unsalted butter
    • 1 ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 4 cups powdered sugar

    Instructions

    • Place cereal in large bowl.
    • Unwrap BUTTERFINGER® bars, place in a zip-top bag, and crush each candy with a mallet or similar, once until it breaks the candies in to large pieces. Pour crushed candies over cereal. Keep in mind, you'll still want the candies big enough to pick up with your fingers when eating the puppy chow.
    • In a microwave safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave for 1 minute, and stir. If chips are not completely melted, place back in microwave for 30-second intervals until completely melted.
    • Stir in vanilla extract.
    • Pour chocolate mixture over cereal/candy mixture.
    • Stir gently until cereal is evenly coated, being careful not to break too many pieces of the cereal and candy.
    • Once coated, sprinkle half of the powdered sugar on top of the cereal/chocolate mixture. Stir gently until evenly distributed.
    • Pour remaining powdered sugar over the mixture, stirring until evenly coated.
    • Store in an airtight container until ready to serve!

Sweet and Smokey Grilled Pork Chops Recipe: A dynamite flavor combination for grilled pork chops, basted with a sweet herby glaze.

Hello! I am Renee Sitavich: owner, writer, photographer, and chief dishwasher over at Renee Nicole’s Kitchen. I blog about food, wine, and all things kitchen-related. I know how much you all love easy dinner recipes, so Jessica has asked me to share my recipe for these quick and easy, sweet and smokey, bone-in pork chops.

Sweet & Smokey Grilled Pork Chops

Sweet & Smokey Pork Chops Recipe

These pork chops are tender and juicy, with just the right balance between sweet and smokey.

    Bone-In Vs. Boneless Pork Chops

Bone-in pork chops are best as they tend to cook a bit slower and lend a richer flavor to the meat, and we use those in other pork chop recipes, like in this easy broiled pork chops recipe. Even with the bone, these only require about 3 minutes per side to achieve the perfect medium finish. But if you only have boneless pork chops, you may want to try this slow cooker pork chops recipe, as they get so tender and the gravy gives the chops so much flavor.

Look for chops that are 1″ – 1 ½″ thick. I usually find them in the butcher’s case at the grocery store. If you do opt for boneless chops, cut about 30 seconds of cooking time off of each side. My instructions here are for the grill, but with a cast iron skillet you can get a great result on the stove top as well.

For complete temperature and timing guidance, see our full guide on how to cook pork chops in the oven.

    Pork Chop Cooking Tips

The chops need about 20 – 30 minutes to come up to room temperature before cooking, so start by pulling your meat from the fridge. If you throw cold meat directly on the grill, the outside will cook much quicker than the inside, leaving you with a charred exterior and a raw interior.

While the meat warms up, preheat your grill and make the glaze. You want the grill grate to be scorching hot to sear the outside of the chops. So, turn it to high and give it plenty of time to heat. Mine takes about 15 minutes, so I use the first 15-minute rest to prep other veggies and sides.

Sweet & Smokey Pork Chops Recipe

    The Glaze

Once the grill is on, start your glaze. In a small saucepan combine the honey, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, basil, paprika, chili powder, and smoked paprika. Turn heat to medium-high and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

Once it boils, drop the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened by half. It should have a syrup-like consistency and coat the back of a spoon. Once it’s done, remove it from the heat and set aside.

Sweet & Smokey Pork Chops Recipe

    Prep the Pork Chops

When the grill is hot and the glaze is finished, it’s time to prep the chops. Rinse them off under cool water and pat dry with paper towels. Don’t skip this part. When introduced to heat, water makes oil scramble away. If you leave the extra moisture behind, it can cause the chops to stick even if the meat/grate is well oiled. Liberally season each chop with salt and pepper then drizzle with a bit of olive oil. Rub the olive oil, salt, and pepper evenly onto the chop and you are ready to go.

Sweet & Smokey Pork Chops Recipe

    Grilled Pork Chops

Heading out to the grill, in addition to the chops, make sure to take with you a timer, meat thermometer, your glaze with a basting brush, and a clean plate.

These chops cook so quickly that having to go search for any of these can cause them to overcook.

    Cook Time

Place the chops on the screaming hot grill and let them sit for 30 seconds, to get a good sear.

Flip them over and set the time for 30 seconds.

When it goes off, lower the temp to medium and grill for an additional 2 ½ minutes. Flip them over.

Brush the top side with the glaze and continue to grill for an additional 2 ½ minutes. Check the temperature in the thickest part of the meat, close to but not touching the bone.

    Cook Temp

For medium chops, aim for a temperature of 135 degrees while on the grill. They will continue to cook as they rest, which should bring them up to the 145 degrees.

If they are ready, flip them onto the clean plate and baste the back side of the chops with the sauce. Take them in and cover them with foil to rest for 5 – 10 minutes. Give them one more baste with the glaze prior to serving.

    Serve on the Side

I like these chops best served with a sweet potato puree and some grilled seasoned vegetables. Broccoli cooked in the oven, asparagus in the air fryer, or green beans (make sure to see how to make green beans taste better!) all work nicely.

If you want to dial it up a notch, serve them with a smoky Syrah/Shiraz or a peppery red Zinfandel.

These pork chops are tender and juicy, with just the right balance between sweet and smokey.

    Cheers and Happy Cooking! Renee

    Baking Gift Basket

    November 24, 2015

Holiday Baking Kit, DIY Christmas gift idea

A baking gift basket full of cookie mixes, cookie decorating supplies, and even fresh-baked cookies, is such a wonderful gift idea to give to neighbors, families with small children, and more!

Holiday Baking Kit, DIY Christmas gift idea

Here’s how to make a cookie gift basket for anyone on your list!

We all know that the holiday season is all about giving, and being kind to others. It’s FULL of opportunities and excuses to perform acts of kindness with your littles!

To get in the full-blown holiday spirit, we made a surprise drop-off of a holiday baking kit at one of our neighbor’s houses. This neighbor goes ABOVE & BEYOND for us, anytime a need arises. It was a no-brainer when we were trying to decide who would receive our Holiday Baking Kit.

How to Make a Baking Gift Basket:

Gather the items you’ll want to put in the basket:

    • cookie mixes (you can also do cake mixes, brownie mixes, etc.)
    • cookie decorating supplies
    • frostings
    • cookie cutters

You may even choose to make your own favorite cookie recipes, to include in the gift basket.

Holiday Baking Kit, DIY Christmas gift idea

What to Use for Baking Gift Basket

For this one, I grabbed a cupcake box, took out the inserts, and staggered all of the items around… and plopped a treat bag full of the Peanut Butter cookies, right in front.

You could also use a basket, cookie sheet (secure the items on top with ribbon), a gift bag or a regular box.

Fun Tip: You could also print out a few sheets of a Christmas scavenger hunt for the families to do during the holidays as well!

I grabbed some ribbon, printed and cut the tags out, and our baking kit was complete & ready to deliver to the doorstep of our neighbor’s house.

When delivering this cookie gift basket, I texted my sweet neighbors (they weren’t home when we delivered) and told them that we left a package for them on their doorstep. A few minutes later, we received the sweetest text:

“Awe, it’s so cute! Our kids already tore into the box and are decorating the pre-made cookies!”

I grabbed some ribbon, printed and cut the tags out, and our baking kit was complete & ready to deliver to the doorstep of our neighbors house.

I had such a good time in my kitchen with my little guys. Just before bed, my son always likes to say,

Mom, what was YOUR favorite part of the day?

Needless to say, making cookies & delivering the treats was my answer. His response?

    Me too.

Love giving little treats? These M&M gift treats are so fun to give to neighbors too!

Holiday Baking Kit, DIY Christmas gift idea

My kids LOVE “hands-on,” so creating a holiday baking kit like we did here… the kiddos are able to help in the kitchen & participate in the “gift-giving.” These DIY gingerbread ornaments are another fun activity to make during the holidays to give out!

    Chocolate Dipped Waffle Cone Bowls

    November 17, 2015

Regular waffle cone bowls are way more fun when they are dipped in chocolate and peppermint chips! Chocolate Dipped Waffle Cone Bowls are such a fun way to serve ice cream, pudding or any sweet treat!

Chocolate Dipped Waffle Cone Bowls make serving ice cream, pudding or any sweet treat just a little more fun!

Regular waffle cone bowls are way more fun when they are dipped in chocolate and peppermint chips! What a fun way to serve ice cream, pudding or any sweet treat!

Hi fab friends! Keri back from Shaken Together with an easy way to add some fun to your holiday entertaining! ‘Tis the season for parties and get togethers, so your regular recipes and entertaining ideas are sure to get a work out. Instead of your stand by dessert, try serving ice cream sundaes (or any sweet treat) in these Chocolate Dipped Waffle Cone Bowls – your guests will love them! And since I am the queen of quick and easy recipes, you only need 3 ingredients and about 15 minutes to give plain ol’ waffle bowls a delicious holiday makeover!

Regular waffle cone bowls are way more fun when they are dipped in chocolate and peppermint chips! What a fun way to serve ice cream, pudding or any sweet treat!
    • Candiquik – this is my favorite dipping chocolate, but you can also use almond bark or chocolate chips
    • Peppermint Crunch baking chips – or crushed cookies, seasonal sprinkles, jimmies, coconut, etc.
    • Mini waffle cone bowls

    Now let’s getting dipping!

    Chocolate Dipped Waffle Cone Bowls

I like to set up a dipping station before I get rolling so I can dip all of my bowls before the Candiquik sets up as it cools. So, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Fill a shallow bowl with the peppermint chips (and maybe even some pretty sparkly sugar sprinkles). Then, once you dip your waffle cone bowls, you can easy move them to the baking sheet with minimal mess.

    • First, dip each bowl into the melted Candiquik. Shake off any excess chocolate and immediately place the dipped waffle cone bowl into the peppermint chips. Push chips around the edge of the waffle cone bowl so they stick to the melted chocolate. Finally, carefully move each bowl to the baking sheet and set it dipped side down. (The parchment paper will prevent the bowls from sticking, so don’t worry!)

Regular waffle cone bowls are way more fun when they are dipped in chocolate and peppermint chips! What a fun way to serve ice cream, pudding or any sweet treat!

I pop the baking sheet in the fridge to help the Candiquik set up, but if you live in a cool climate with minimal humidity (lucky you!), yours very well may set up on their own.

    • The last step is to fill each chocolate dipped waffle cone with your favorite sweet treat! Think ice cream, pudding, no bake cheesecake, a snack mix or even candy. This was totally my chance to indulge in my favorite limited edition ice cream … Peppermint Stick!

Regular waffle cone bowls are way more fun when they are dipped in chocolate and peppermint chips! Chocolate Dipped Waffle Cone Bowls are such a fun way to serve ice cream, pudding or any sweet treat!

You can easily exchange the peppermint chips for coconut or white/gold sprinkles for New Years, heart shaped sprinkles or red hots for Valentine’s Day and multi-colored sprinkles for birthdays … these chocolate dipped waffle cone bowls will be making an appearance at all of our celebrations this year 🙂

Regular waffle cone bowls are way more fun when they are dipped in chocolate and peppermint chips! Chocolate Dipped Waffle Cone Bowls are such a fun way to serve ice cream, pudding or any sweet treat!

Small Town Girl & Salt Lake City

    November 9, 2015

    Blogging relationships

My heart is full. FULL you all.

    Let me explain…

A few months back, I was invited to speak at the Pinners Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sharing my passion for throwing parties & entertaining, was on the agenda, and I couldn’t WAIT to get to the mountains.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

    First Night in Camp

First day in town, we spent cruising around soaking in all that Salt Lake had to offer. Shopping ladies… TONS of shopping in Salt Lake.

I propped my computer open, and was along for the ride, working & scouting out where I was headed the next day, for a little retail therapy. 😉

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

We broke for lunch at the Market Street Grill, and I had to celebrate with a martini that was TO DIE FOR…

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

and a pound of shrimp cocktail. Yes, I shared with my hubby and friends… but I could have tackled this glorious pile of deliciousness on my own.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

Our waitress was fabulous, and the food/drinks were superb. If you’re ever in the area… go. eat. here.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

    Change of Seasons in Minutes

My mind is STILL blown. After lunch, we headed out, and up the mountain to see the white stuff…

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

In just minutes of starting in beautiful, colorfully Fall leaves…

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

we were on top of the mountain, covered in snow. HOW? How in the world can you be in a warmer, colorful surrounding… and then minutes later, be freezing… surrounded by all the makings of Frosty the Snowman’s?

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

    It was ABSOLUTELY beautiful.

    Trip Outtakes

Hungry for a local pizza, we decided to order a “little,” take out… while we were there. I don’t know about you, but my hubby and I LOVE having a pizza delivered when we are visiting somewhere, trying new styles & flavors. Well… not looking closely at the menu, my husband orders:

Just bring us the biggest one you got. Pepperoni.

I must say, we learned our lesson of double checking pizza-size in the future. A 36 inch pizza {think about how big that is for a minute. There are typically ONE of those little white stands, in the center of a large pizza. There were 6.} shows up at the front door. I’m pretty certain the box had to be turned sideways to fit through the front door. We never finished the WHOLE thing, but did put a hurtin’ on it at least.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

Checking in on the blogs Facebook page on Day 2 of the trip, I noticed Fantabulosity’s FB page reached 5,000 followers!!! I celebrated with another martini. 😉

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

A bit of “window shopping,” was on the agenda in Park City, and we found our inner snow bird “look.”

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

But they were $500 hats. We gently sat them back down after the photo opp., and ran out of the store, afraid we would be stuck with paying for something if we broke it. 😉

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

On day THREE, I visited Home Goods and scored the cutest little table for my Party Styling 101 Class, and decided that I wanted to give it away as a BIG thank you for attending my class. Have I ever told you how much I love Home Goods?

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

On VIP night at the conference, I popped in for a bit, and ran in to Gloria from Simply Fit Board, and my hubby and I had seen her on Shark Tank the week before! I love success stories, and had to get my photo with her immediately.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

I gotta say… if we ever move to Utah, I’ll have a FABULOUS time, playing with fashion. Those Utah girls KNOW how to style it up, and if I could have packed more back home… I wouldah. My new faux vest and gray boots were my favorite purchase of the trip!

    http://simplyfitboard.com/

    Party Styling 101

The day arrived, and I was more excited than ever. I opened my class up by admitting to them all:

I seriously thought there would be like 2 people in my class, considering I didn’t really know anyone in Utah.

    I was ridiculously flattered…

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

Party tips, party tips, & party tips! I spoke for an hour, but could have talked all day.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

If you weren’t able to attend, I’ll fill you in on one little secret I told them.

Adding “garnishes,” to your drinks can add fabulous “umph,” to your party decor.

Dip the ring of a glass, in to white Kayro syrup. Then dip the glass in to glittery sprinkles. The look is not only fabulous…. but it adds a “sweet,” touch! 😉

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

I created a “mini,” tablescape for the audience, to show examples of how to stagger and add height to a display table…

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

“Think Outside of the Box,” is a common phrase of mine, and using this table that I scored from Home Goods, gave a great example of how you could utilize what you may already have at home, to create the perfect party tablescape.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

I have a new love of party goody supplies: Alexis Maddox Design let me use this cake topper for my class, and now I’m HOOKED! It added the exact “look,” that I was going for.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

I bought a few store-bought cupcakes, and added little party flags for an easy cupcake topper idea.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

While standing in the checkout at Home Goods, I saw yellow macaroons, and KNEW they’d look darling on my dessert table example. They fit perfectly in the little polka dot cups that I’m obsessed with.

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

In my class, I gave the attendees a quick and easy way to add some pizzazz to party favors. I hope you’ll attend one of my classes one day, so I can teach you this little trick too! 😉

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

So I’m back there… behind those people. After my class, person after person came up to chat & ask questions. I was so caught off-guard by the sweetness of everyone. You all are too incredibly sweet, and now I feel like I have a lot of friends in Utah. 🙂

Fantabulosity Party Styling: Pinners Conference Salt Lake City Utah

No matter where I am, or when it is… It makes my DAY when someone comes up to me and says,:

The special lady standing by me, won the little table that I gave away at the end of my class. She was so happy to receive it, and I was sooo happy to have her and the gals with her, to come up and get a photo!

    I don’t know how I got so stinking lucky, to have met Toni with Design Dazzle. I had posted in a private FB group before heading out to Utah, that I was coming by myself, and didn’t know anyone. Toni took me under her wing, and made me feel right at home. Much love to her, and PLEASE visit her blog, because she’s not only the sweetest, but you’ll LOVE what she shares. {Especially her home decor ideas. OMG}

I love handmade Christmas ornaments – there is just something about hanging those hand print reindeer and popsicle stick frames alongside with my rustic wooden nativity ornament and wood slice snowman. And this year, I’ll add a few Let It Snow ornaments to our tree … since that is the only snow we’ll ever get in Florida 🙂

    Supplies

    • Plastic ornaments
    • Winter Snow (*see notes below)
    • Faux snow (*see notes below)
    • White card stock
    • Black ink pad and letter stamps
    • Small hole punch
    • Blue/white bakers twine
    • Ribbon for hanging
It is a DIY Christmas with this easy Let It Snow Ornament!

*The Winter Snow is from FloraCraft – it is basically shredded foam that has a little sheen/sparkle. You should be able to find this or something similar at your local craft store. The Faux Snow (mini foam balls) was at my local dollar store.*

Cut a thin piece of white card stock and stamp “Let It Snow” on the tag. Use a small hole punch to add a small hole at the top of each tag.

It is a DIY Christmas with this easy Let It Snow Ornament!

Carefully remove ornament hanger and separate the metal hanger from the collar of the fastener and slide the tag onto the hanger.

While the ornament hanger is removed, fill each ornament about ⅓ – ½ full with the Winter Snow and Faux Snow. If you have a small funnel, that will help corral the snow as you fill the ornaments.

Replace the ornament hanger. Tie a bow with blue and white bakers twine around the ornament hanger. You can use a different color of twine to match your tree, but I love the blue, white and silver combo for these ornaments!

Finally, add a length of ribbon through the ornament hanger to hang the ornament. Easy right?

5 Ways to Prepare for a Romantic Weekend with your Husband

5 Ways to Prepare for a Romantic Weekend with Your Husband https://fantabulosity.com

A romantic weekend with your husband may be just what you two need. But are you ready for it? Here are my 5 ways to prepare for your alone time!

    Disclaimer:
Mom… I told you about half way in to my post “5 Simple Ways to Make Your Husband Want to Come Home,” to stop reading, because I was going to say some things you may not want to know about your daughter. Well… don’t even read this post. Ain’t nothing in it that you’ll want to see. 😉

Ok, now that my mom  has been forewarned…

5 Ways to Prepare for a Romantic Weekend with your Husband

Oh snap! You have a sitter for a whole weekend?  (Babysitter, Dogsitter, Housesitter, whatev… you got a sitter.)

5 Ways to Prepare for a Romantic Weekend with Your Husband https://fantabulosity.com

Let’s make it a good one, shall we?

My husband and I try to go away for at least a night, I’d say about once every 2 months. There’s nothing like getting away from home, out of the normal every day routine, and makin’ it happen. A whole weekend away doesn’t happen too often, but when it does… I wanna prepare for it. (I like to prepare for the one nighters too… but there’s something special about a whole weekend or even WEEK away.)

Let’s face it. When you go away for one night…

Going to bed by 9pm sounds exhilarating, with the thought that you won’t be woken up by a screamin’ baby in the middle of the night. You MAY get to dinner, but after that… it’s off to sleep. Ahhh… a full night.  But if you’re gone for more than one night, you can leave the next night for the good stuff.

A Romantic Weekend with Your Husband

Mom… you’re reading this aren’t you? Stop it.

5 Ways to Prepare for a Romantic Weekend with Your Husband https://fantabulosity.com
Our first night “out,” after having our first baby. Dancing on stage. You couldn’t stop us.

Go Shopping. (For the right things.)

You know, the funny thing I’ve realized, and heard from others, is that some men don’t really care about the fancy-schmancy lingerie outfits. They really only care about what’s underneath.

So you’re telling me, I just spent $70 on this white lacy piece of fabric, (that is so small, it should be a “swatch,” for a larger version available in stores)… and you don’t even care about it?

    Nope.

    Crap.

But… I don’t know about you, when I have a pair of new underwear, and bra… I’m feelin’ better than ever. Plus, you can wear and wear and wear those again. That leather-strapped babydoll teaser onesie thing, isn’t going anywhere but the back of your undergarment drawer, when you get home. But if you’re like me, go buy that new underwear and bra, because if anything… it will make YOU feel good.

So in my experience (and research) a lot of men like what’s underneath…

Which brings me to my next point:

    Groom Thyself.

In the Ways to Make your Husband Want to Come Home post, I suggested you may want to tend to your female upkeep. Trust me… I need to practice what I preach. Grab a new razor (If you’re like me, you’ll need a new one. Because an old one’s not gonna cut it. Literally.)  Get to shavin’. (Or even see my tips for getting laser hair removal like I did, and that’s even better!) Put on some of that smelly good lotion, and pack it in your bag, so you can reapply and reapply while you’re gone.

Some of my friends even go get waxed. (And I mean WAXED. I haven’t been brave enough to do this yet. I may, or may not have gotten about 5 minutes away from my Brazilian wax appointment, and chickened out. No lie. I called them, & told them I was sick to my stomach-thinking about how my hair was about to be ripped out of my special place), and went shopping instead.

Traditional airport photo before flying out on our romantic weekend…

    Save the tough talk.

You know those conversations that you and your husband have every once in a while, that ALWAYS cause a fight, or extreme tension? For years, I would think…

Oh good. We won’t have the kids, so we can maybe finally talk about the finances. Or how he decided on that huge life changing decision, without me.

Oh please no. If I’ve learned anything, there’s nothing worse than preparing for an entire romantic weekend away, to have it go down the crapper in the first 30 minutes. I know it’s alone time, and you don’t get that often to talk about the important things… but this weekend is about romance. If it’s not crazy important… do yourself a favor and wait. Enjoy each other’s company, not attack each other.

5 Ways to Prepare for a Romantic Weekend with Your Husband https://fantabulosity.com
    Romancin’ it, down in Mexico

     Drink some caffeine.

Don’t let a second night get away from you, where you just end up wanting to go to sleep right after the early bird special at the restaurant down the road. Do whatever it is that gives you energy and makes you want to stay awake past your toddler’s normal bedtime. For me? I drink coffee at 4:00 in the afternoon. That seems to keep me up to at least 11:00. 😉

5 Ways to Prepare for a Romantic Weekend with Your Husband https://fantabulosity.com
We headed to Boca Grande for a wedding/romantic getaway.

    Do something he loves.

I can’t talk about The Five Love Languages enough. What is it? It’s a book, written about how everyone has a certain “love language.” (Read more about it here: The Secret Weapon in my Marriage)

    1. Acts of Service

    2. Touch

    3. Quality Time

    4. Gifts

    5. Words of Affirmation

Find out what your husbands love language is, and pick something that “fits,” what that is, and act on it, on your romantic getaway. If you’ve been together for any time, you may think you already know what his is. You may be surprised, after you read the book… or he may have more than one. If you don’t have time to read a book before your weekend, no worries. I’ll see if I can help and give examples:

Disclaimer:  I’m using my own words and definition of these. PLEASE read the book if you can. It was a total life changer in my marriage.

    5 Love Languages

    1. Acts of Service – Do something for him, that he hates to do, or that he likes for you to do.
(Example: He’s not in to details or super busy…so plan and book the hotel, so that’s one less thing he has to do.)
    2. Touch – He loves the physical touch that you can give him. Hugging, kissing, etc.
(Example: Give that manly man a massage. Grab massage oil and get to work. WARNING: This may lead to something else, so scroll up and read “Groom Thyself,” again if need be.)
    3. Quality Time – Spending time together as a couple, alone. P.S. This is mine, so I feel like I can explain this one well.
(Example: You’re already spending time alone together on a romantic weekend, so that should be a huge quality time “love deposit,” but take it even further if you can. Schedule a couples massage. Or if you go shopping, shop together in the same store. Don’t drift off to Sephora, while he’s in Dick’s Sporting Goods.)
    4. Gifts – Buying/Making something and giving it to him.
(Example: It could be something HUGE, like tickets to his favorite sporting event while you’re on your romantic weekend… or something small like his favorite candy that he never eats at home.)
    5. Words of Affirmation – Telling your husband all the good stuff that he likes to hear.
(Example: Tell him multiple times – in different ways – how he’s the best husband for taking time to get away with you for the weekend. Go one step further and brag about him on your Facebook status. That MAY just get you bonus points. 😉 )

I hope you have a FABULOUS time with your romantic weekend with your husband! Really… you deserve it. I’m DYING to know if you did any of these. Let me know,

    Until next time.

    Restaurant Kit: Toddler Busy Bag

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone, promise! #MARVELSnackBar #CollectiveBias

Sometimes I wonder what in the heck we were thinking when we decided to go out to eat with two little boys. Forcing them to sit still for a long period of time, is almost a cruel joke.

Restaurant Kit - Toddler Busy Bag Ideas! https://fantabulosity.com

Since the majority of the time, we decide to eat out at the last minute, I may not have time to round up toys & snacks for a restaurant trip. So the new trick up my sleeve, (thanks to Blue I Style) is my “Restaurant Kit.” My toddler busy bag is always ready to go, whenever we decide to head out the door.

    Restaurant Kit

The restaurant kit is FULL of goodies that I think will help keep my children occupied. By only bringing out the kit during… you guess it… restaurant trips, the toys, and goodies are “new,”(since they haven’t played with them already that day) and they can’t wait to see what’s in it.

So what do I use for the bag?

A makeup bag! It has a handle and little compartments. Perfect to store the goodies.

Restaurant Kit - Toddler Busy Bag Ideas! https://fantabulosity.com

What do you Put in a Toddler Busy Kit?

Restaurant Kit - Toddler Busy Bag Ideas! https://fantabulosity.com

    • Small Figurines. I don’t know what it is, but my children LOVE playing with small figurines. Probably because it’s easy for their little hands to hold on to.

    • Plastic Eggs. The small figurines usually end up going inside the small plastic eggs, and the constant open and shutting of the plastic eggs, REALLY hold their attention span… quietly. Buy plastic eggs HERE!

Restaurant Kit - Toddler Busy Bag Ideas! https://fantabulosity.com

    • Triangular Crayons. (Buy them HERE!) Have you ever heard of these? Yes? Oh… I guess I’ve lived in a cave. They’re triangular crayons, so they won’t roll off of the table at the restaurant, and since they’re larger… my youngest child can grip on easier. (Not like those itty bitty crayons the restaurants usually hand out.)

I usually keep a small notebook in the restaurant kit too, because even though some restaurants give my children a coloring sheet, it’s like there’s never really anything to color? It’s all crowded up with menu items, pictures of characters, etc. A blank sheet of paper is a free for all!

Restaurant Kit - Toddler Busy Bag Ideas! https://fantabulosity.com

    • Play Dough. (Buy the small containers HERE!)I’ll admit. I’m totally that mom that tries to do everything from having to entertain with play dough. It’s messy, get’s all over my floors at home, etc. But it DOES hold their attention span really well at a restaurant, and totally worth it sometimes.

(I will try and pick any up off of the floor before we leave because I don’t want to be “that,” customer, that makes the restaurant workers have to clean it up.)

    • Sticker/Coloring Book. Stickers are a FAVE in our house. I think I have stickers on every chair in my house, at the moment. Peeling each sticker off, and sticking it on to a sheet of paper requires concentration for those little hands. (A.K.A quiet time.)

Restaurant Kit - Toddler Busy Bag Ideas! https://fantabulosity.com

    • Utensils. (Buy my favorites HERE!)There are times we visit a restaurant, and the spoons for the kid meals are gigantic! In case that happens, I like to keep an extra set of utensils in the restaurant kit for a backup.

    • Bib. (Buy the thin bibs that fit well inside, HERE!)Let’s get real. Kids menus are full of dishes that contain red sauce, ketchup, and other messy colors. Plus, when we are going “out,” my kids are usually wearing their “better,” clothes. Nothing irks me more than to see a big red stain on a new little toddler shirt. Keeping a bib in the restaurant kit comes in VERY handy. Wipe it off with my next item below, and it’s good to go for next time.

    • Wet Wipes. (Buy the small individual packages HERE!)Oh wet wipes can serve so many purposes. Clean those little hands. Wipe off the table of the germies. Clean the bib after use. Wipe up the spill on the table. They’re super handy for everything. Stock up. You’ll use them.

    • Granola Bars.  (Buy them HERE!) I also always keep a “bar,” (what my children call it), in the restaurant kit, in case the food takes a little long getting to the table… so they can have a snack to hold them over. If a snack wasn’t needed… they are the PERFECT dessert, that I can negotiate with, so they’ll eat their veggies.

Restaurant Kit - Toddler Busy Bag Ideas! https://fantabulosity.com

Take it from a mom that knows… get your restaurant kit put together today. You won’t regret it!

    Pro Tip:

Did the kids have good behavior while at the restaurant? If so, maybe think about rewarding them with a “Caught you being good” ticket! We love using this at home.

Even if your kids aren’t toddlers anymore… if you need a way to keep them from getting bored while out, and so you don’t resort to letting your kids watch YouTube, yet again, try a busy bag!

Now, although this is specifically for a restaurant busy kit, there’s no reason it couldn’t be beneficial for a road trip with a toddler too!

5 Simple Ways to Make Your Husband “WANT” to Come Home…

    September 2, 2015

How to make your husband want to come home

WHEW! There are some brutal people out there! Ever since I published this post, it has gone crazy viral and some of you are NOT afraid to speak your mind. So I feel I must explain my intentions with this post, to explain where I’m coming from.

My husband is very good to me, and does extremely nice things for me. So in return, and out of respect, I like to do nice things for him.

how can I make my husband come home
My husband and my sweet babies!

Have you ever heard someone say,

Be the wife your husband can’t wait to come home to at night?

No? Yes? I’ve heard it a million times, and I always try to keep advice in my head. As I would hope my husband would think the visa versa. Right?

    So I began to think,

What are some things that he would love, to really make him feel special?

    and this post was born.

No people, I’m not saying rewind 60 years and be a Stepford Wife. I’m just saying what I like to do for my husband to show my appreciation, and I would very well expect respect in return. Right?

So let’s carry on with this post, and maybe all of the bullies will stop “hating,” on this post. If not… sorry. This is something that works well in my marriage, and I hope it can give someone else great ideas too! If not, I’d LOVE to hear what works in your marriage. Every marriage is different.

    Back to the post:

It may be a husband who is in the military and is coming home after a year stay overseas, a husband that has only been gone for 3 days, or a husband that is coming home after a long day at work.

(P.S. You gals that have husbands gone for a super long time, I COMPLETELY adore your strength.)

how can I make my husband come home

    A little behind the scenes…

My husband owns his own company, and like many other professions, those days as a CEO of a large company, can be excruciating. There’s nothing more that I want to do when he comes home, than to show him my appreciation for working hard. Don’t hear what I’m not saying. I’m not saying I don’t work hard.

I’m a stay at home mom, and I run and operate THIS… my blog. But I AM saying that I want to make our home a place that he’s excited to come home to, every night. ESPECIALLY when he’s been gone for a few days.

5 Simple Ways to Make Your Husband Want to Come Home https://fantabulosity.com

How to Make Your Husband WANT to Come Home:

So how do I do this so-called, “making him happy to come home,” thang?

Just don’t ask my husband, because he may tell you different. Haha! Kidding. Only kidding.

make your hubby want to come home

    • His love language.

Every husband is different. If you read my post on the secret to a marriage, then you know that everyone has their “language,” that speaks to their heart. (Some husbands, may have more than one.) Read up on what your husbands love language is, and think about something that would fulfill that language that he speaks! 😉  You can buy the book “The Five Love Languages” HERE!

    • Be positive.

Yes, I know real-life happens, and sometimes life throws us some curveballs. The kids were acting awful, the lawn-mower chucked a rock at the dining room window, or the bank account is in the red because it’s been a rough month. But keeping a positive attitude when he walks through that door, can really help for the later part in the evening when it’s time to have a conversation about the not-so-fun things. So when he walks through the door, maybe wait just a bit before you throw up all of the “uglies” at him.

How to Prepare for Your Husband Coming Home https://fantabulosity.com
Don’t forget to make each other laugh. Him and I dressed up for the Def Leppard concert, a few years ago. You’re never too old to have fun. 😉

    • Send him love notes.

Once a day, I will try to remember to send him a love note, through text. Yeah yeah yeah… I could get up early, write him a sweet note, and stick it in his coffee cup sleeve… but that’s not going to happen. So when breakfast is over, the kids are playing on their own, I’ll send my hubby a little love note, through a text. “How did I get so lucky to deserve you?” Or something like, “I can’t wait to see you when you get home.” That little “surprise” with something nice can really make his day.

    • Ask him.

In the evening after the kids are off to bed, many times, I’ll ask him:

I’m grabbing something to drink, do you want something?

Or before he leaves for work, I may ask him:

I’m pretty free today. Is there anything you need help with?

Not only are you doing something nice for him by offering to help him… you may also figure out some of the types of things he likes for you to do for him. He may say something like:

You wouldn’t have time to take my truck for an oil change would you? Or I’ll have to take it on Saturday, and miss the little guy’s soccer game.

What?! Who knew? I thought he liked getting out of the house on Saturday mornings by himself to get the oil changed.

5 Simple Ways to Make Your Husband Want to Come Home https://fantabulosity.com
Our beach wedding, back in 2008

    • Get fancy-schmancy.

Now Mom, (my mom), you may want to stop reading here. I may say some things that you don’t want to read or know about your daughter.

      (Mom… you’re still reading aren’t you? You’re such a rebel.)

As a mom, I’m usually jumping in the shower as quick as I can, while my kids sit in the bathroom floor. So tending to my female upkeep, can be considered a rare and special occasion. 🙂  Shave those legs. Don’t forget the armpits, and whatever else you shave. Paint those toe-nails. Put on that lotion that’s supposed entice your hubby in to the sheets. (But like he needs a lotion from Victoria Secret to put him in the mood.) Put on that “Woah Baby,” outfit you bought at the mall a year ago that you’ve been dreading, putting on. And surprise him with a raring and ready to go attitude. Every man may be different, but I have a feeling most would appreciate this one. 😉

    Wrap Up.

I so hope I didn’t offend you, but rather give you some ideas to try and show your husband that you love and care for him. I’d love to hear what you think below! But please remember, I’m human. I’m not a computer. So although I want you to be honest, I would love for you to also be kind. XOXO

As a mom, wife, sister, friend, employee, boss, and whatever else society calls you… we sometimes need to be reminded what it is that makes us happy, so we can fulfill our duties with the best intentions and the way we choose and want.

    Hangover Kit Gift Ideas

    September 2, 2015

Winery Tour Survival Kit! Love how this has all kinds of stuff in it that they'll need for their day, night and morning after! Lol! http://fantabulosity.com

I call this my hangover kit idea because even though some of the snacks and goodies can be enjoyed during the party day, these will come in so handy the morning after too!

It’s rare when a large group of us can get together for a girls night out. Make it a “couples night out,” and it gets even rarer.

We are known for having an abundant supply of wineries at our fingertips. So when we all get together, we know a winery tour, MUST be on the agenda.

Wine Tour Snacks & Favors! Little boxes full of items for snacking, dehydration, hangovers, breakfast & just for fun! This is GREAT idea for bachelorette party favors too! https://fantabulosity.com

What to Put in a Hangover Kit

The minute I knew all of us were getting together for a winery tour, I started getting the “itch,” to do something creative for them. All of these people are so special to me, so I wanted to show them a little love by giving them a small little, “Got ya covered,” items, in their winery day favors.

Winery Tour Survival Kit! Love how this has all kinds of stuff in it that they'll need for their day, night and morning after! Lol! https://fantabulosity.com

You can get the cutest kraft favor boxes on Amazon.

You see, we are all fairly new moms and dads, and I had a feeling we were going to be “go hard,” and make the best of it.

So each couple received a Hangover Kit!

If you’ve never been on a wine tour, you may not know that the wine “tastings,” can get a little fuzzy after the first stop. 🙂  So I knew that I wanted to fill the boxes with small snack foods, that would pair well with wine & would be a great service after the wine tour. 😉

Winery Tour Survival Kit! Love how this has all kinds of stuff in it that they'll need for their day, night and morning after! Lol! https://fantabulosity.com

    • Chocolates, beef sticks, & cheese crackers.

    • Water to rehydrate (that wine can really make you thirsty!)

    • Mini Muffins & granola bars for breakfast the morning after.

    • A small container of pain relief meds for that pounding headache the next morning.

    • and a special little somethin’ somethin’ for the couples who may not be ready to add a new addition to their family any time soon, that’s hidden in that little white bag. 😉

So what’s in that little white bag you ask?

Wine Tour Snacks & Favors! Little boxes full of items for snacking, dehydration, hangovers, breakfast & just for fun! This is GREAT idea for bachelorette party favors too! https://fantabulosity.com

I think my friends were a bit shocked when they opened the bag. (But I’m sure the husbands were secretly grateful.) 😉

I bought the super cute little white bags from Shop Sweet Lulu too.

    Winery Snacks

Remember my White Chocolate Lemon Puppy Chow?  I made a big batch of this for the whole group to snack on, while we transitioned from winery to winery. I already had these boxes in my (ahem) craft closet, or… craft throw-up closet.

How did we transport to each winery? This is possibly my fave-o-rite part…

Our friends offered up their RV, so we could hire a designated driver, and all transported together! THIS… my friends… is the way to do it.

One of my cuter, than cute… friends, opening up her party favor for the day.

We are also super lucky, that most of the wineries around here, also brew their own beer. So the people who aren’t the biggest wine fans, and prefer the brew… can kick back, and have a drink too.

I even got to hang out with THIS guy (my hubby) all day, and that wasn’t too shabby.

DIY Housewarming Gift Idea + Drink Dispenser

    August 29, 2015

DIY House Warming Gift Ideas. Mason Jar Drink dispenser with all of those "always need," items when moving in! Awesome! https://fantabulosity.com

DIY Housewarming Gift Idea: Using a drink dispenser, filling it with all kinds of necessities that the new homeowners may need at move in! Plus, they get to use the drink dispenser later!

I love it when I have two or more people celebrating the same thing. Birthday’s, Accomplishments, Graduations, Moving in to a new home, or simply just give me reasons to thank them. Why? Because when I’m getting creative, I like to do it on a mass level.

Why not spread the love to more than just one person?

    spread the love...

It makes it easier to shop for multiples than just one, because more than likely, when I’m creating a DIY project, all of the fixin’s come in multiples.

This week, I had TWO friends moving in to new homes! My DIY Housewarming Gift was born…

    DIY Housewarming Gift Idea:

I haven’t met a gal yet who doesn’t love a good ole drink dispenser.

They either want it, to store their tea in, or they want it for the parties they’re throwing at home.

I knew a drink dispenser was TOTALLY going to be the base of my DIY Housewarming Gift.

All of the goodies inside, were just the added cherry on top, while shopping.

I knew I wanted the contents of the gift to be things my friends would need when moving in to a new home. You know, those things you don’t think about, until you need them? There’s nothing more frustrating than gettin’ in a groove, unpacking, hanging things up, when you realize you’re out of something, and you have to stop what you’re doing, and run to the hardware store.

Well, if you’re anything like me, by the time you run to the store, and get back home…

    Forgettaboutit. I’m pooped.

    Maybe that’s just me.

I love coming to my friends rescue. I told you that when I showed you my DIY Sick Kit for friends. There’s just something about helping others, that makes it easier to rest my head at night, right?!

By far, my favorite thing about this DIY housewarming gift idea, was that the drink dispenser did all of the decorating for me. It’s pretty enough, that I simply just tied a ribbon around it. BAM!

If you love giving housewarming gift ideas, making sure to see this pretty housewarming gift basket too!

    DIY Drink Dispenser Contents:

    • Drink Dispenser (shocker, I know)

    • Hand towel (white is always safe. Tie a ribbon around it, to keep it small in the jar.)

    • Surge Bar

    • Furniture Pads {so they don’t scratch the floor}

    • Gorilla Glue

    • Furniture Dusting Wipes

    • Batteries

    • Furniture Touch-Up Crayons

    • Monkey Hooks (Next to Command Strips, these are my favorite things to hang items with.)

    • A book for the kiddos to read, while mom and dad unpack.

I just lucked out at the time the movie, “Home,” was popular! 😉

I just stuffed the drink dispenser full of the goodies, and tied a cute little ribbon around it with my homemade label. You’ll be tickled to see how easy the label was to make below:

I just grabbed 3 paint swatches from the store.

DIY Housewarming Gift Ideas. Mason Jar Drink dispenser with all of those "always need," items when moving in! Awesome! https://fantabulosity.com

I used one for the background, cut a corner off of another for the roof, and cut a square out of the last one for the walls of the house. I used glue dots to adhere the house to the background paint sample, and wall-lah. I had a “heart,” sticker from a previous project left over, and I attached that too, to had a little, “umph.”

Then wrote a little message to the new neighbors.

I used a hole punch to make two holes in each corner, and tied the ribbon through, and around the drink dispenser… and called it a day.

We went around the following weekend, delivering the housewarming gifts, and my kids had a blast! Making it a family event made it all worth it too.

    Honey Sriracha Chex™ Mix

    August 16, 2015

    Honey sriracha chex mix.

Do we have any Sriracha lovers out there? Oh I know we do…

The fact that there are such things as Sriracha keychains… then I’d say odds are, we have some that must hang around here.

The other day, General Mills surprised me with a huge bagful of goodies. At first, I thought it was just a bag full of their newest items. I was wrong. It was WAY more than that!

It was stuffed full of all of the ingredients & a recipe card that I would need to make:

    Honey Sriracha Chex™ Mix

I mean, check out this massive gift they sent me. I {heart} them. I couldn’t WAIT to make it. Then of course if it was good, I couldn’t wait to share it with you. Needless to say… I’m here, and I’m sharin’ it. It’s GOOD.

It was extremely easy to throw together, and I didn’t even have to heat up the stove!

Here, I laid the heated chex mix out to cool, on wax paper before adding in the popcorn.

Once it cools, add in the popcorn and the deliciousness commences.
The recipe card says to store it in an air tight container so it will stay fresh!

I stored mine in one of my glass canisters, hoping it stays fresh in that… because… we… it’s pretty.

I did also add a little salt to the mix after it was all finished and mixed together. But that’s just because I really, really, really like salt. 🙂

Teacher Survival Kit & FREE Printable

Teacher Survival Kit - Teacher Gift Idea https://fantabulosity.com

My kiddo will be starting his second year of preschool this year, and we are BOTH looking so forward to it. He loves going, and I love it for him for a couple of reasons:

    •  I love it, because HE loves it

    • He’s making friends and being social

    • I get to have one on one time with my youngest for a few hours a day

Although he only goes for only a few hours, his teacher plays HUGE part in his life. So I wanted to tell her “thank you,” and help her survive the school year with a little treat.

    Teacher Survival Kit

Teacher Survival Kit - Teacher Gift Idea https://fantabulosity.com

I’ve heard before that teachers are overwhelmed with homemade gifts every year. The DIY coffee mugs, framed art made out of crayons, homemade cookies, etc. always seem to be an abundant supply.

So I wanted to create something that the teacher could put to good use. I hear a lot that teachers spend a lot of their own money on school supplies, and I wanted to help ease the pain.

    What’s Included:

    • Desk Organizer {to hold everything}

    • Scissors

    •  Small Notebook

    • Notepads

    • Hole Punch

    • Stickers

    • Glue Stick

    • Hand Sanitizer

    • Highlighters

    • Dry Erase Markers

    • Tape

    • White Out

    • Pens

    • Pencils

    • Gift Card to an Office Supply Store

    • Head Ache Medicine

    • M&M’s

Now… the beauty of this teacher survival kit, is that you can totally downsize this gift if you need to.  Please understand my little guy is in preschool, so he has ONE teacher. I know that when kiddos start elementary school, they’ll have their primary teacher, music teacher, art teacher, P.E. teacher, etc.

Downsizing this same gift is so easy to do!  Grab a small little basket, and only put 3-4 goodies in it, and it’s STILL the cutest…useful gift!

Another money saving idea: You can also head to your dollar store, and grab the gift goodies more affordably, than probably an office supply store.

TIP: Any time I create a “gift basket,” type gift… I try to take as many things out of the package as possible. Big, bulky packaging can really take away for the contents inside of the gift.
